Prince Louis had a very sweet eight-word response to the news of his great-grandmother the Queen’s death, Princess Kate revealed.

The young prince was just four years old when the Queen passed in September 2022, but he had a very mature response, which his mother shared during a walkabout outside Windsor Castle.

Just two days after the monarch’s death, Princess Kate spoke to well wishers in Windsor with Prince William, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle.

One royal fan was particularly emotional, and the Princess of Wales sought to give them some reassurance, retelling her youngest son’s response to the news.

She said: “The whole nation’s being very brave, aren’t they? Don’t worry I have plenty of moments like this too.

“My little Louis, he’s just so sweet, he’s like ‘Mummy, don’t worry, she’s now with great-grandpa.’ It just shows you how special she was to everybody, all generations.”

The comment was made while she was viewing tributes to her late grandmother-in-law and made headlines for walking alongside Prince Harry and Meghan, whom they had a strained relationship with at the time, and still do.

This marked one of the very few occasions the former ‘fab four’ reunited since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down from the Royal Family in 2020.

They also conducted other joint visits at the time of the Queen’s death, with Prince Harry and Prince William taking part in a vigil for their grandmother, alongside their cousins at Westminster Hall.

A year previous, his great-grandfather Prince Philip passed away aged 99 and had to have a socially distanced funeral as per the Covid restrictions at the time.

A photo emerged from the service of the Queen sat alone as she said goodbye to her husband of 73 years, refusing to let the government bend the rules for her family.

According to The Independent, she said: “It would be unfair for her to have special treatment when others were also grieving for their loved ones in lockdown”.

The following year, the death of the Queen would mark the end of the longest-reigning monarch the UK has ever seen.

World leaders sent their condolences from across the globe, and the public queued up for hours to see her lay in state, paying one last tribute to the monarch.
