A royal expert touched down on Meghan Markle’s ambitions and why she didn’t last longer in the royal fold.

Meghan Markle “failed to understand” her role within the Royal Family, which was a bad match for her “ambitions”, a royal expert has claimed.

The Duchess of Sussex does not have the best relationship with the Royal Family after she and Prince Harry stepped down as senior working royals and moved to the US in 2020.

However, due to her interest in many charities focusing on mental health, women’s rights, and animal welfare, among others, royal watchers have long questioned why Meghan did not stay in the royal fold for longer than she did.

Now royal expert Jennie Bond claimed that was because she did not understand her royal role and added that the Royal Family was the “wrong vehicle” for her ambitions.

She told OK!: “I have always held the view that Meghan failed to understand that she would never be the top dog in the Royal Family… or even the deputy top dog.

“There’s absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to be in complete control and in charge of your life. There’s nothing wrong with seeking the limelight.

“It’s just that the Royal Family was the wrong vehicle for her ambitions.”

Ms Bond went on to claim that the Duchess of Sussex may not “crave” the superstar profile but is enjoying being in control of every detail of her life and work in California.

She explained: “I’m not sure she craves a superstar profile.

“In fact she’s been quite low-key in recent times, presumably enjoying her family life in California.

“But she has projects in the pipeline with her website and I’m sure she will enjoy being in control of every detail.

“She is an independent woman with strong views and she is perfectly entitled to deploy her skills in any way she wants.”
