When The Princess finally broke the silence about her cancer diagnosis, she went into detail about how she wanted to wait to tell her children first. In a rare and candid moment, a member of the Royal family was honest about her health journey. And despite endless rumors about what was happening, Kate Middleton chose to do this on her own time. The Daily Mail even called her “emotional” revelatory video “unprecedented”.

People on social media are accusing the royals of turning on Kate Middleton and giving her the “Diana Treatment.”

In a video explaining her struggle, Middleton said the following:

“This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.”

This marked a striking difference between how many in her family have dealt with such issues. According to The New York Times, image retouching experts quickly figured out that there were numerous issues with a photo the Royal family posted of Middleton with her three children. Even the Associated Press claimed they could not use the image in their publication as it appeared to have been digitally altered.

Numerous publications believed that the image had been altered to make Princess Kate look healthier, as unconfirmed rumors of her health were swirling. This wasn’t the first time Buckingham Palace posted an image on social media that was digitally altered. According to Town and Country,

Sources claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had mocked Kate Middleton for the edited photo, but the Duke and Duchess deny it.

It was later revealed to be doctored in order to replace an image of Middleton with one of her looking healthier. According to Town and Country, the image of Queen Elizabeth II with her many grandchildren on her 97th birthday was touched up in editing. The same was allegedly true of images that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle posted, specifically of the 2019 christening of their son Archie. The photographer denied this to be true, but that didn’t squash rumors.

In either case, neither Queen Elizabeth II nor Prince Harry and Meghan Markle addressed the issue head-on. But Princess Kate Middleton did. Following the reveal that she had doctored the Mother’s Day image of her and her children, the royal said the following:

“Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing. I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day.”

In 2021, Princess Kate Middleton was hit was a nude photo scandal. La Provence, a French magazine, published long-lens photos of the Princess enjoying a private holiday with her husband.
