Taylor Swift proved to be one of the many artists that turned down an invitation to perform at King Charles III’s coronation. A specific reason for the rejection was not given, but it was said that Swift was performing in Nashville during her Eras Tour the day of the Coronation.
Yahoo News wrote about the other artists that also turned down the invite.
“Taylor Swift reportedly rejected an offer to perform at King Charles III’s coronation in May, according to an upcoming book by royal reporter Omid Scobie. Us Weekly reported that the pop star was one of several musicians who turned Charles down, including Harry Styles, Adele, Elton John, and the Spice Girls, making it difficult for officials to organize the ceremony.”
Taylor Swift revealed the dark side of her career, wanting to leave the music industry for good.
The decision to turn down the performance was somewhat controversial, given that it wasn’t the first time Swift rejected a request from The Royals. Swift was also asked to appear on Meghan Markle’s former podcast, but ended up turning down the request. In truth, Swift could have added to her billionaire status with the high profile gigs, but in both instances, elected not to.

Back in June of 2023, Page Six reported that Taylor Swift had rejected Meghan Markle’s invitation to appear on her now-canceled podcast.
It is said that Markle wrote a personal note to Taylor Swift, but was still snubbed by the artist. Page Six writes, “Meghan Markle reportedly penned a personal note to Taylor Swift asking the pop star to be a guest on “Archetypes,” only to be shut down.”
Not only did Swift turn the offer down, but it is believed that she didn’t even respond to the request.
“Swift, rejected the invitation, according to the Wall Street Journal, and didn’t even bother responding herself — instead having a representative decline on her behalf in what could be seen as a diss to the Duchess of Sussex. Any chance at a do-over is off the table now, as Markle, 41, announced earlier this month that she and her husband, Prince Harry, had parted ways with Spotify, which streamed her podcast, just three years after signing a $20 million deal.”

Given that the podcast came to an end, there is no chance of the two coming together. Nonetheless, Markle and Swift completely debunked the rumors of tension between the two sides after Meghan showed up to Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour.

Just a couple of months later, People reported that Meghan Markle attended Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour stop in Los Angeles. Prince Harry was in Asia at the time, as Markle took part alongside a friend.
People wrote, “A source confirms to PEOPLE that the Duchess of Sussex, attended Taylor Swift’s performance at Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium on Tuesday during the Eras Tour’s California leg. As Swift launched into her Fearless era — telling the excited crowd, “Let’s go back to high school!” — Meghan jumped up out of her chair to sing along to “You Belong with Me.”
The publication continues, “Page Six, which was first to report the news, said Meghan attended with her friend Lucy Fraser. Although Prince Harry did not join his wife as he’s overseas, he’s been to SoFi Stadium since they located to Meghan’s home state in 2020 after stepping back from their royal roles. In 2022, he attended the Super Bowl at the venue alongside his cousin Princess Eugenie, who was visiting from the U.K.”
Making an appearance was clearly a big deal for Markle, and it really proved that there wasn’t any type of bad blood between the two sides. Given Swift’s ridiculous schedule, it could be that she just couldn’t make the commitment, especially in the midst of her Eras Tour.
