Celebrity Big Brother has played host to a galaxy of stars over the years, but who was your favourite ever winner? Let’s find out

Celebrity Big Brother is back on our screens, bringing with it a wave of nostalgia for all the past winners that have graced our screens over the last two decades.

While we lap up the latest series – starring Princess of Wales’s uncle Gary Goldsmith, TV star Sharon Osbourne, music mogul Louis Walsh, and Strictly star Nikita Kuzmim among others – we thought it was a good time to ask you who your favourite ever winner was.

And your most-loved by quite some margin is Rylan Clark, with 261 votes. The one-time X-Factor contestant – and now ubiquitous TV presenter – was the last man standing when the 2013 series ended.

This is a very fondly remembered era, and you may recall jockey Frankie Dettori and Rylan having to decide every housemate’s fate as to who would move in the Main House or the Basement. Joining them were Razor Ruddock, Gillian Taylforth, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt and Paula Hamilton.

Halle Berry suffers wardrobe issue

Your next favourite was top comic Jack Dee with 106 votes. The inaugural series back in 2001 saw the laconic, stony-faced legend triumph against other housemates that included Anthea Turner, Chris Eubank, Claire Sweeney, Keith Duffy and Vanessa Feltz. The show is probably best remembered for Vanessa having an on-air meltdown when she began methodically writing on the kitchen table using chalk.

Closely following Jack with 108 votes is Ryan Thomas. The former Coronation Street actor became the latest winner after beating US star Kirstie Alley in the final. Ryan was involved in a punch-gate scandal with former Emmerdale star Roxanne Pallett. After she controversially accused Ryan of deliberately hitting her, she walked out of the house in a back door-style eviction and Ryan was crowned the winner.

Comic Julian Clary, who won the second series in 2012, was your next favourite with 78 votes. It had initially been announced that Facebook voting would be in effect for this series but due to technical issues, Channel 5 cancelled such plans. The comedian was joined by Julie Goodyear, MC Harvey and Coleen Nolan, Martin Kemp and Samantha Brick.

Following Julian on 73 votes is Happy Mondays legend Bez. The 2005 series was won by Salford’s very own maraca shaking, freaky dancin’ Happy Monday, Mark ‘Bez’ Berry. He was accompanied by a diverse crowd including Germaine Greer, Caprice, Brigitte Nielsen, Jackie Stallone and Kenzie and it was the first series in which celebrities got paid to appear. John McCririck’s diary room tantrum over his beloved Diet Coke certainly stuck in the mind from the third series.

Controversial comic Jim Davidson got 69 of your votes. The old-school stand-up scooped the title in the first series of CBB to air in 2014. The show lasted 27 days. Other housemates were Lionel Blair, Luisa Zissman, Dappy and Evander Holyfield, Jasmine Waltz, Lee Ryan, Linda Nolan and Liz Jones.

Next is Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding with 66 votes. Betting odds were up and down for Sarah in the 2017 series – one episode she was favourite and the next she was getting booed – but she came out on top in the end.

Next up is Shilpa Shetty Jundra with 49 votes. The most controversial Big Brother incarnation of all-time saw a record number of complaints to regulator Ofcom. Issues centred on concerns that Bollywood star Shilpa was the subject of racist bullying and protests were even held in India. Among the other contestants involved were Danielle Lloyd, Jo O’Meara, Jade Goody, Jack Tweed and Leo Sayer.

Shane Jenek/Courtney Act got 44 of your votes. The RuPaul’s Drag Race finalist won the 2018 series after beating Ann Widdecombe with 49 per cent of the public vote. The chasing pack saw Paddy Doherty and Mark Owen tied with 38 votes each, followed by Katie Price on 33. Other votes were cast for Scotty T, Gary Busey, Coleen Nolan, Charlotte Crosby, Stephen Bear, Denise Welch, Ulrika Jonsson, Alex Reid, James Hill and Chantelle Houghton.
