Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond interviewed Ferne McCann ahead of her Dancing on Ice debut in Friday’s show – however, fans were quick to accuse Dermot of ‘switching off’

This Morning fans have teased Dermot O’Leary after the presenter was spotted stretching and sighing through his interview with reality star Ferne McCann. The ITV host was interviewing Ferne alongside co-presenter Alison Hammond on Friday as the TV personality spoke about her Dancing on Ice debut at the weekend.

However, fans soon took to social media to point out how Dermot looked ‘bored’ by his latest guest, with the presenter stretching and sighing throughout the chat. Some viewers accused Dermot of ‘switching off’ during the segment, with one writing: “The big sigh and stretching had me,” alongside a laughing emoji.

Another viewer posted: “That stretch, the ‘yeah lovely and just have a nice time’. haha I can’t cope.” While a third said: “The sighing and stretching was crazy work.”

Others chimed in, with one fan saying: “Don’t blame him, I switched off too, what nonsense are they even talking about. Bore.” While someone else wrote: “This is perfect, he’s obviously met her before. ‘Yeah lovely.'”

The Only Way Is Essex star Ferne is just one of the stars taking part in the 2025 series of Dancing on Ice, having performed her first skate on Sunday. The TV personality skated to Lily Allen’s Somewhere Only We Know and placed third on the leader board with a score of 26.5, not far behind Coronation Street’s Sam Aston and TV presenter Michaela Strachan.

Speaking on This Morning about signing up for Dancing on Ice, Ferne said: “It was the perfect time with finishing my reality show at the end of the year last year and just to go onto such a fantastic production. It’s such a fantastic show, it’s magical.

“I genuinely can’t believe it, the progression is crazy. I started off now being able to ice skate whatsoever and feeling really frustrated because I was like ‘how am I ever going to get this?’ I really just had to surrender and trust the process.”

Speaking in an exclusive chat with The Mirror, Ferne revealed that Dancing on Ice training has given her glutes to die for. She said: “Every shoot I’ve done leading up to Dancing on Ice, all of my friends have been going, ‘Ferne, your booty!’

“It’s because you’re constantly squatting and bending down the whole time on your bent knees, so it’s been amazing exercise. I’ve just got fitter and more supple, the more training I’ve done.”

Meanwhile, former winner James Jordan revealed that he worried for Ferne due to her height. “It would be great to have a really strong female. I was thinking about Ferne McCann. She’s only 34 but she’s very tall and I worry that she’s going to struggle,” he told The Mirror.
