This Morning and Loose Women have been cancelled today for a three and a half-hour ITV News special on the King’s Tour

While GMB and Lorraine still aired on TV this morning, the other two ITV daytime shows have been cancelled to make room in the schedule.

It comes as King Charles III embarks on a tour of the country in the days before the funeral to meet his new subjects as millions around Britain unite in their sorrow.

They will be able to pay their respects to the Queen at royal sites across the country.

Mourners have been urged to donate to charity in memory of the Queen if they wish at royal.uk, where they can also leave messages of condolence.

Official guidance from the Cabinet Office last night suggested they contribute to one of the late monarch’s charities.

It said: “Making a donation to one of Her Majesty’s many charities and patronages may be considered a fitting way of paying tribute to her extraordinary legacy.”

Earlier this week, the King was given a day off for a private day of reflection.

In the detailed planning for the aftermath of the Queen’s death – known as “London Bridge” – a day was set aside at this point for the new monarch to have some time away from public duties.

The period allowed the King to pause, but it is understood he was working in preparation for his new role and received his red boxes of state papers.

The new monarch led the royal family in a public display of homage to the late Queen by walking behind her coffin with his siblings, sons and other relatives as it was carried into Westminster Hall, where it will lie in state until the state funeral on Monday.
