Professional dancer Pasha Kovalev made a heartbreaking confession while appearing on Loose Women as he admitted he wished he had called Robin Windsor before his death aged 44

Strictly Come Dancing star Pasha Kovalev has heartbreakingly opened up on his friendship with the late Robin Windsor.

The professional dancer, 44, appeared on Loose Women to discuss his close friend. Robin’s death at the age of 44 was announced in February this year. Ballroom & Latin dance company Burn The Floor, of which Robin was a founding member, announced the sad news in the early hours of the morning on Tuesday 20th February.

He was paired with a host of celebrities when he appeared as a professional dancer on the BBC competition from 2010 to 2013, including Dragons’ Den star Deborah Meaden and Lisa Riley. Speaking of his friend, Pasha said: “I think everyone loved Robin, anyone who ever met him loved him. He was a big sweetheart and he was helping anyone and everyone. I met Robin a long time ago, we were on the same production touring the world. Then we were reunited on Strictly. We did a lot of dances together.”

He then reflected on Robin’s death as he shared a devastating regret. Pasha said: “The news of his passing came as a huge shock to me and to all of his friends. When you hear about something like that, as a friend you start thinking ‘could I have done something more? Could I have spent extra time seeing him, talking to him, send extra message?’ Because of that, I think my first instinct was I wanted to cherish the time I had with Robin. Get all the friends together and speak about the good days and all that he loved.”

Strictly stars are set to come together to remember Robin later this year in a special show. Robin’s family shared a heartbreaking tribute to the Strictly star following his death. A statement shared with The Mirror read: “We would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and celebration of our beloved Robin. While we understand that there is a huge public and media interest around his passing, we as a family need time to process our shock and grief. We ask for the needs of our family and friends to be taken into consideration and for our privacy to be respected at this difficult time.”

Professional dancer Gorka Marquez previously shared plans to remember Robin while making an appearance on Loose Women. Gorka told the show: “I think we are a family and the loss of Robin who was part of that family… he was just a wonderful person. He was always smiling. I have memories of him smiling when it comes to the show, it was positive things for all of us. The least we can do is celebrate him because wherever he is up there, he will be dancing with us.”
