Lucy Alexander, who is close pals with both Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford, offered her support to the latter following the sad news of the former couple’s split

Ruth Langsford’s pal Lucy Alexander has rushed to offer support after the news she is divorcing Eamonn Holmes.

The Loose Women star had captured a beautiful day spent with her mother, full of sunshine, music, dancing, sherry, and completing crosswords together in the garden. She posted this precious moment alongside the dog, Maggie, on Sunday (June 2) with a heartwarming caption: “Lovely day spent with my darling Mum….sunshine, music, dancing, sherry, lunch, crosswords in the garden and Maggie….making memories Music by her favourite @mrantondubeke #sunday #family.”

Responding to the post on Tuesday evening, Lucy penned a comforting message in light of Ruth’s recent marital separation: “Just what you need – mum and maggie cuddles… I reckon you should have a swig of Joan’s sherry [laughing emoji] love you.”

Lucy and Ruth’s friendship spans many years, filled with nights out and trips abroad. Express.co.uk quoted the A Place In The Sun presenter as having previously said: “Ruth and I go on holiday together and we always need another holiday by the end of it. We just do not stop talking. She loves cooking and doing stuff at home.”

She also mentioned, “We like making lunches and we love shopping. We love nattering. She is just like my favourite holiday partner if I’m going to go on a girly holiday.”, reports the Express. In the past, Lucy, aged 54, has been there for Eamonn during his health challenges, paying a visit to their Surrey home during his recovery time.

“Yeah, I was over there with them watching the football [one Saturday]. Over at the Holmes’ household,” Lucy revealed in a candid chat last year. “He’s alright. He’s putting a smile on his face every day. He’s getting there.” She continued: “It’s funny because whenever we have a girly night and we go over there – it’s four of us – we all get together. It was our Christmas do, we call it, where we all swap and give each other presents. It’s always the four girls and Eamonn. We’re like, ‘What are you doing in here? It’s a girl’s night.’ He will say, ‘I just want to come and say, hello.'”.

The news of the former TV duo’s split was announced last month. Ruth hadn’t publicly commented on the split but Eamonn thanked fans for their support while presenting on GB News. It comes as Ruth extended her break from Loose Women following her divorce news.

A source said: “Ruth will not be back on screen this week.” They added to The Sun: “She has decided to extend her break from ITV so will not yet be making a return to the Loose Women panel.”
