Prince Harry appeared “downcast in LA” after putting on a brave face for UK visit, a royal expert has claimed.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were spotted at the airport in Los Angeles on Monday, touching down after a 18-hour flight back from Nigeria.

Meghan was pictured walking ahead of her husband as they left the airport. Harry, on the other hand, was walking behind looking upset – something that royal expert Tom Quinn suggested could be linked to his recent UK visit.

Harry is said to have hoped that he could have met with his father whilst in the UK, but the monarch posed a busy schedule during his short visit.

Speaking to the Mirror, Mr Quinn said: “Harry tried desperately to put a brave face on it during his recent visit to the UK, but his real feelings were apparent when he landed back in Los Angeles. It was impossible not to see how downcast and upset he looked.

“And it’s no surprise because he had hoped to see his father, and for a good deal longer than their 30-minute meeting last time he was in the UK.”

The 39-year-old had previously returned to the UK back in February, where he met with King Charles at Clarence House just days after his cancer diagnosis was revealed.

At the time of Harry’s visit to the UK last week, a spokesperson for the former working royal said that the King was too busy to meet with his youngest son.

Conflicting reports have suggested that the monarch did offer to meet his son, and even offered him a place to stay during his visit – but this was turned down by Harry.

Upon arriving back in the US on Monday, Harry and Meghan were likely excited to reunite with their two children. Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, two, are said to have stayed with their grandmother – Meghan’s mum – Doria Ragland.
