Phillip Schofield reveals he went to the pub as he breaks silence on This Morning chaos

Phillip Schofield has revealed he went to the pub as ITV’s This Morning was taken off air due to a security incident nearby. He shared a smiling selfie with fans on Instagram, insisting he was fine

Phillip Schofield went to the pub with his colleagues when This Morning went off air today due to a bomb threat.

The ITV live show was cut short – with emergency footage instead being aired – after an evacuation took place at the Television Centre and nearby areas due to a security incident.

The Metropolitan Police attended to deal with the incident, and as a result, This Morning and ITV’s following showhttps://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/breaking-itvs-morning-chaos-live-26434240

were taken off air, with old footage being played in its place.

Now, Phillip – who co-hosted today’s show with Holly Willoughby – has broken his silence on the incident.

“Back in my dressing room @thismorning after a security alert,” he wrote alongside a smiling selfie, “All ok and thankfully a false alarm. Thank you to our team @thisistvc and @metpolice_uk for being amazing.”

Sharing where he’d been, he also added: “I’ve been to the pub with everyone, now back to get my house keys!”

The Met Police were called to a security incident near the studios earlier today.

A statement from the police read: “At 11:14hrs on Thursday, 10 March, police were called to reports of a security alert at Wood Lane, White City. It was reported a suspicious item had been discovered.

“The area was evacuated as a precaution and White City and Wood Lane tube stations were temporarily closed. The incident was stood down shortly before 12:49hrs. An investigation is ongoing.”

Pictures from the scene showed those working at the Television Centre standing outside whilst the incident was dealt with. As part of it, the nearby tube stations were also closed.

“White City and Wood Lane stations closed: While the police respond to a security alert outside the station,” a tweet from Transport for London read at the time.

A statement was published on This Morning and Loose Women’s social media channels.

“We apologise for the break in live programming today. We are currently running pre-recorded content and hope to be back with you soon,” the message – shared at 12.52pm – read.

Fans of the two ITV shows were left puzzled when the show went off air with no explanation and they took to Twitter to share their confusion, with one writing: “Erm… what happened? Was watching and looking forward to the gadget game and the show suddenly switched to a pre-recorded set. Not even a comment in the ad break to explain.”
