There has been a stark change in direction from the Sussexes on the public’s ability to see their children grow.

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan Markle are entering a “new era” of privacy for their children, according to a royal expert.

The Sussexes have given the public the ability to see their children in projects they have undertaken despite stepping back from being working royals in 2020.

Viewers could watch Prince Archie, now five, in the couple’s bombshell interview with Oprah and then they shared a photo of Princess Lilibet, now three, to celebrate her first birthday.

But the Sussexes did not publicly mark Father’s Day on Sunday and a royal expert says this could be a sign of things to come.

Jack Royston, Newsweek’s chief royal correspondent, told Sky News: “It’s interesting that we didn’t get any Father’s Day content from Harry and Meghan.

“I think they really have hit a new era of definitely wanting to keep their children in private.”

He added: “But then we’ve had nothing this year of Lilibet and we’ve had nothing for Father’s Day and it does feel like they’ve now hit a point where we perhaps won’t see the kids again.”

Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been warned that they may face a “difficult problem” when their children grow up and start asking questions about the wider Royal Family

The relationship between the Sussexes and the Firm worsened after the pair made a number of accusations against them in their Netflix docuseries.

Royal author Phil Dampier spoke on the Sun’s Royal Exclusive show and said it will be “fascinating to see those kids grow up”.

He added: “When they get a bit older, are they going to start asking questions ‘how have we got to this situation’, ‘how is it I don’t see my grandparents’, ‘how is it I don’t have anything to do with the Royal Family?’

“When they get old, that’s probably when the problem is going to start and it’s going to be difficult for them.”
