Loose Women fans hit out at Ruth Langsford for her views on the recent riots following the tragic slaying of children in Southport as she clashed with panelist Myleene Klass
Viewers of Loose Women were left outraged over Ruth Langsford’s comments on the recent riots in the UK, following the fatal stabbing of children in Southport.
Three children were stabbed to death following an unprovoked knife attack in Southport, Merseyside, by suspect Axel Rudakubana. And this sparked riots all over the UK including Manchester, Liverpool, Belfast, Middlesborough and Hartlepool. And rioters attacked police and a local mosque following misinformation on social media about the accused.
And during Loose Women’s Monday show [August 5] Ruth Langsford, Gloria Hunniford and Myleene Klass clashed over a difference of opinion. Gloria kicked off the debate stating that “nothing justifies” the level of violence that was captured on TV and social media. She also said the riots were attended by “ordinary people like ourselves in the mix who really are frustrated about their voice not being heard’.”

She added: “I don’t believe every single person in that mix was a far-right [member] or a thug. I think people are frustrated by the migrant situation’.” And it was at this point, Ruth chimed in and agreed with Gloria that the issues surrounding immigration “underlined” the violent scenes shown.
She then added: “But skim those people away, and there are people who want to protest peacefully and quietly but want to be heard. In the media it’s being skewed to far-right thugs… but people are worried about saying they’re concerned about immigration because you are labelled a racist.”
And her comments did not sit well with viewers. Taking to X, one fan wrote: “Tory Ruth showing her true colours too, her and Gloria should be ashamed of themselves.” Another person labelled Ruth and Gloria’s comments as “hideous.” Listening to the comments made on the panel, Myleene then said: “My mother’s from the Philippines. She came as a nurse. My father is from Austria, he became a Navy captain. A lot of people protesting benefit from migration. They drive cars from Germany, wear clothes from Bangladesh and Vietnam, they probably have a curry on a Friday night and have come into contact with a Pakistani doctor.”
And while Myleene tried to elaborate on her point on the financial benefits of migration, Ruth interrupted her and said: “Those might be people who’ve been here for many years. The issue now is that the country is full – it’s groaning under the weight of this.” While many hit out at Ruth and Gloria, it seemed others were able to see another perspective. One person added: “The services in this country are groaning under the weight of Tory cuts. I wish people – rich people – would stop gaslighting us.”
Myleene then identified the debate on migration was a “massive firework that everyone’s being [distracted by]”. And she also criticised the politicians for ignoring needs of people in society. And another viewer agreed with her saying: “Yes Myleene, thank you for speaking the truth. Gloria and Ruth not wanting them to say it how it is.”
