Loose Women’s Ruth Langsford gobsmacked as Denise Welch makes brutal Strictly dig

Loose Women star Ruth Langsford took part in the fifteenth series of Strictly Come Dancing and was partnered with Anton du Beke

Loose Women’s Ruth Langsford was lost for words after Denise Welch made a brutal dig about her Strictly Come Dancing appearance.

Ruth took part in the fifteenth series of Strictly Come Dancing and was partnered with Anton du Beke.

She was the seventh celebrity to be eliminated from the show.

On Monday, Denise and Ruth were joined by Brenda Edwards and Gloria Hunniford for a special bank holiday episode of the show.

The panellists took part in a game where they needed to guess the name and location of famous landmarks in the UK.

Ruth was shown a cropped picture of Blackpool Tower, which she answered correctly.

The panellists and the audience gasped in shock as Denise giggled at her own jibe.

Brenda couldn’t lift her jaw up off the floor after the joke while Ruth simply said: “Wow. Like a dagger in my heart!”

“Ruth,” Denise said as she tried to explain herself. “Matty Jamieson our producer told me to say that!”

Ruth then responded: “As soon as I saw Blackpool Tower I thought, ‘Here comes the joke’.

“This is what I have to put up with. I could be having a barbeque in my back garden, I don’t need to be here.”

Ruth was partnered with Anton when she appeared on the BBC show and still speaks highly of the professional dancer five years on from their partnership.

“Anton is so funny. He reminds me a lot of my husband in terms of banter. We share a similar sense of humour, which is why I’m so thrilled he’s my partner,” Ruth told HELLO! magazine during her time on Strictly.

She added: “Anton’s a good teacher and we work hard, but he makes everything so much fun. He’s intuitive, too. He knows instinctively when I’m tired or struggling or about to cry. That’s when he’ll stop and say, ‘Let’s go and get a cup of tea.’ So he senses what I need, when I need it.

“He’s a fabulous dancer and a dream partner.”
