Loose Women’s Janet calls Coleen ‘spiteful’ after four-time divorce jibe

Christine Lampard was in the Loose Women host hotseat on Tuesday, as she was joined on the panel by Janet Street-Porter and Coleen Nolan as well as Gloria Hunniford

Loose Women turned tense on Tuesday morning as Janet Street-Porter and Coleen Nolan exchanged barbs during a panel discussion.

Christine Lampard was in the host hotseat on Tuesday, as she was joined on the panel by Coleen and Janet as well as Gloria Hunniford.

The panel were discussing whether the general public is more broad-minded than ever before when Janet reflected on her own upbringing, declaring she was not a ‘prude’.

She said: “What is that word ‘prude’? I can’t even say it properly. I’m not a prude. I’m more or less the same generation as Gloria, but with a very different upbringing, because obviously I grew up in central London.

“I did go to a religious school, but it was a church in England and we all know that’s a bit mix and match these days,” she added, to laughter from the live audience in the studio.

She continued: “I did want to get married, because coming from a working class background that’s what you want to do, but when it didn’t work I just moved on.”

Janet then added: “I didn’t see any stigma attached to it at all,” to which Coleen next to her quipped: “Obviously. You’ve been divorced four times.”

Laughing with mock outrage, Janet replied: “I was wondering when the spiteful side would come in!” as Coleen insisted: “I was just waiting to speak.”

Ruth sat alongside Donna May and said it was a privilege to be working with her all these years, as they all thanked her for helping them look the best every day with her makeup artist skills.

Speaking at the end of the show, Kaye said: “Before we go, we have to say after 20 years, this is the last day of our dear friend Donna May. The heart of our make up room. She’s sat there with Ruth, I don’t think Ruth’s going to let her go.”

Donna then revealed she would be making the leap to work on her business full time, as Ruth told her: “Look at those four gorgeous women there, you do that,” as Kaye told her: “You are and will continue to be a wonderful friend to us all.”
