Loose Women’s Chizzy Akudolu, 49, shares cancer worries after finding ‘lump’ in breast

Actress and television star Chizzy Akudolu has been sent well wishes after she took to social media to share that she discovered a lump in her breast just a number of weeks ago

Former Holby City actress Chizzy Akudolu has revealed she found a lump in her breast just a matter of weeks ago.

The actress took to social media to explain that while she hadn’t planned on sharing her news, she was now in a position to do so with the hopes of helping another person.

Chizzy, 49, went on to say that shortly after discovering the lump she instantly booked an appointment to have it checked out.

Her admission comes just days after her Loose Women co-star Brenda Edwards discussed her experience after finding a lump following the news that Sarah, Duchess of York underwent a mastectomy to treat breast cancer.

“In May I found a lump. The NHS offer a 2 week service for breasts and I was seen for a mammogram and ultrasound. Thankfully I got the all-clear.”

She added: “Don’t delay. Get it checked. Thank you to the NHS.”

Her followers and celebrity pals soon rushed to the replies section to send their well wishes with Lorraine Kelly penning: “So glad you are OK Chizzy xxx.”

“Pleased you are all clear lovely. Well done for mentioning this too,” said her former co-star Lee Mead who played Lofty.

While one fan added: “Oh Chizzy thank the Lord it was nothing serious. But you must have been very worried until you got the all-clear. Lots of love, hugs and prayers to you.”

Before a third typed: “Glad ok and thanks for sharing. I worry people won’t get things checked out with all the press surrounding GPs and the #NHS.”

“Thank you so much for sharing this such a scary thing to go through and opening up publicly I’m sure is even scarier! You’re a very selfless and loving person to do that to raise awareness and help others. I’m so glad you got the all-clear,” penned another

Earlier this week, Chizzy’s former co-star Brenda revealed she discovered a “pea” sized lump in her breast back in 2015 just minutes before she was due on stage in Hairspray: The Musical.

Brenda explained: “I ran my hands across my breasts after she said something and found a lump which kind of felt like a frozen pea.

“It was hard like a frozen pee and that kind of size, on my right underneath, by my right breast, didn’t think anything of it, went and did the show…”
