Loose Women star Nadia Sawalha latest star to pull out of NTAs after suddenly falling ill

Loose Women star Nadia Sawalha has shared with fans she will no be in attendance at this evening’s National Television Awards after falling ill

Loose Women panellist Nadia Sawalha is the latest to pull out of this year’s National Television Awards after falling ill.

The 57-year-old presenter has been left bedridden with a mystery virus she suspects could be the latest strain of Covid-19.

Nadia and her Loose Women co-stars have been nominated for the Best Daytime award at the NTAs, which will return to ITV hosted by Joel Dommett.

The awards were initially postponed as a mark of respect following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, but the 27th annual prize ceremony will now take place on Thursday at the OVO Arena Wembley in London, with the results broadcast live.

However, Nadia will no longer be among those in attendance after posting a new YouTube video filmed from her sickbed.

The Loose Women star held up her tickets in the video and told fans that she is too sick to make it, saying: “Look what I just got delivered on a bike. It’s very fancy. National Television Awards.”

“There it all is. Guess who won’t be going to the National Television Awards?”

Sighing, Nadia continued: “I’ve got such a lovely dress – I’ve got three lovely dresses I can choose from.

“My friend Simone was coming over to do my make-up, I’m supposed to be going with my friend Jordan in the car.

“Jane [Moore] and Kaye [Adams] are going. All the girls are going. Party afterwards. Nope.”

This comes after Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly were reportedly forced to pull out of a Britain’s Got Talent special due to illness.

Instead, their friend and former Britain’s Got More Talent host Stephen Mulhern has been called in to replace the duo.

The pair have postponed all work commitments until they recover, an ITV spokesperson has confirmed.

This likely means that they may not be attending the NTAs – during which they’ve consistently won the best TV presenter award for 20 years.

NTA host Joel recently spoke about his preparation for the awards ceremony, and shared that he goes through a dry run of his jokes with Ant and Dec.

He explained: “They are such good laughers and they really concentrate, because they obviously understand it from your perspective.

“So every joke, I go to them and they do their little Geordie laugh.”
