After her song the 52-year-old urged crowds to “bring the community together”.

Speaking through a megaphone she said: “If we can do anything in 2022, can we please bring the community together.

“Stop the fighting. Stop the killing. And build up our community. We are not supposed to be losing our young people.

“If you see something happening. Try to stop it please.”

Just days after her son’s passing she broke the silence on Jamal’s death in a statement shared on Good Morning Britain.

She said: “It is with the deepest heartache that I confirm that my beautiful son Jamal Edwards passed away yesterday morning after a sudden illness.

“Myself, his sister Tanish and the rest of his family and friends are completely devastated. He was the centre of our world.”

“Jamal was an inspiration to myself and so many. Our love for him lives on, his legacy lives on. Long live Jamal Edwards MBE, MBA, PHD.”

Police have said that while the music mogul’s death is not being treated as suspicious it is being treated as “unexplained” – which means there will most probably be an inquest into how he died.

He had been performing a DJ set at Bubba Oasis in Angel the night before he died.

The owner of the club, Rob Huysinga, told MailOnline: “We had a great night. Jamal made everybody smile and brought a lot of joy to all of those that were there, as he usually does.

“He finished at around 11.30pm and there was absolutely nothing wrong with him. It was just Jamal being his incredible, wonderful self.

“He had a great, positive energy which all of us felt that night felt it. We are all devastated because of what’s happened, it’s really shocking.”

Music royalty shared their heartbreak on social media shortly after the news of his death broke.

Fearne Cotton shared a photo of the two of them together with the caption: “Completely heartbreaking. Jamal you were the most special person.

“I adored hanging out with you, chatting about life and big dreams.

“You’re creativity and passion for nurturing new talent will never be forgotten.”
