As conspiracy theories about the Royal Family continue to swirl online, Denise Welch discussed the topic on Monday’s Loose Women
Denise Welch has hit out at “half statements” as conspiracy theories about the royal family continue to swirl online.
The Princess of Wales, 42, has not been seen publicly since undergoing “planned major abdominal surgery” earlier this year, which took place at the London Clinic on January 16. It comes as King Charles has taken a step back from duties following his cancer diagnosis. Furthermore, Prince William sparked concern last week when he pulled out of the memorial service for King Constantine, where he had been due to give a reading.
In a new statement last week, a royal spokesperson said: “Kensington Palace made it clear in January the timelines of the Princess’s recovery and we’d only be providing significant updates. That guidance stands.” The spokesperson reiterated the princess is “doing well.” They have still said nothing more about what specific medical procedure she has had and due to her retreat from the public eye, it has led to lots of unwarranted online speculation and conspiracy theories.
Talking on Monday’s Loose Women, Denise, 65, said: “The whole royal family thing, listen, I’m very torn about it all. As anybody who watches this show regularly knows, I’m very much team Meghan and Harry.” The panellist added: “The whole Kate Middleton thing, I have nothing against her, I don’t know her, I hope she’s alright.

“Just tell us what’s the matter, just do a photo whether it’s from your bed or whatever it is, you are creating a media frenzy. Now the conspiracy theories are starting, which of course they’re going to do. So just say what is the matter with her. I don’t understand them telling us about Charles’ cancer but not telling us where the cancer is and how he is, don’t make half a statement!”
To which co-star Ruth Langsford responded in defence: “Some people would say they should be afforded some modicum of privacy when it comes to your health. It might be something that she doesn’t want discussed. It might be private but they’ve just said: ‘Look, she’s had an operation, she’s fine, she’ll be away from her Royal duties.'”
In a statement released the day after Kate’s operation Kensington Palace said: “The surgery was successful and it is expected that she will remain in hospital for 10 to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery. Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.
“The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate. She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private. Kensington Palace will, therefore, only provide updates on Her Royal Highness’ progress when there is significant new information to share.”

While Buckingham Palace said in a statement last month: “During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer.
“His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties. Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual.
“The King is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure. He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible.
“His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer.”
