Loose Women’s Charlene White remembered Dave Myers after the news of the Hairy Bikers star’s death, as she said he was ‘a huge loss’ to the TV family

Loose Women star Charlene White remembered friend of the show Dave Myers on Thursday after the sad news of his death.

The ITV host announced his death on the show leading to gasps of sadness from the live audience, with Charlene calling his passing “a huge loss”. The Hairy Bikers star, whose death was announced at the age of 66 by best pal and co-star Si King on Thursday morning, died on the night prior surrounded by his family.

Si released a statement on behalf of his loved ones as he said an emotional farewell to his co-star and close friend. Discussing the sad news on Thursday, Charlene revealed both Dave and Si were fans and friends of the show, as she paid tribute to the late TV star.

She told the audience and viewers at home: “We just wanted to share the news with you that Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers has died aged 66.” As the audience gasped and sighed loudly, she went on: “I know, I know.

“It’s just two years after revealing that he had been diagnosed with cancer, Dave and his co-star Si were big fans and big friends of the show. We send all of our love to both Si and of course Dave’s family. It’s a huge loss to our telly family.”

Si confirmed the passing of his beloved pal on Thursday morning, just days after the pair had promoted their latest ventures together and amid a TV return for the duo.

Just last week, an episode of his new series The Hairy Bikers Go West aired where he made an emotional comment. Si had said: “It’s great getting back here with my best mate. We didn’t think 18 months ago that we’d be on the bikes again wandering around Dave’s backyard and it’s wonderful that we are.”

Meanwhile, a smiling Dave added: “It’s been glorious. The motorcycling’s been glorious. What can I say. It feels so good to be alive!” The statement confirming his death on Thursday on social media read: “Hi everyone, I’m afraid I bear some sad news.

“Most of you will know Dave has been fighting cancer for the past couple of years. Last night, on 28th February 2024, with Lili, Dave’s wife, his family, close friend David and myself by his side, he passed away peacefully at home. All who knew Dave are devastated at his passing. His beloved wife brought him such happiness as did her children, Iza and Sergiu who Dave loved like his own.

“Personally, I am not sure I can put into words on how I feel at the moment. My best friend is on a journey that for now, I can’t follow. I will miss him every day and the bond and friendship we shared over half a lifetime. I wish you god’s speed brother; you are and will remain a beacon in this world. See you on the other side. Love ya.

“I know Dave and his family would want me to thank all of you who sent messages of support in recent times. It meant the world to him, his family and all The Hairy Bikers team.

“I am sending you all much love and gratitude for those simple acts of kindness, generosity and spirit. We are eternally grateful for them. May I ask you all for one further kindness and allow Lili, his wife, his family, close friends and I some time and some peace to process our huge loss. I am sure I will see you all soon. Love Si x”
