Loose Women star Janet Street Porter divided the panel today as she urged “outrageous” Madonna to “give it a rest”.

Madonna made her return to the UK for her Celebration tour, which kicked off this weekend at London’s O2 Arena. Her show was a hit with fans, as she performed some of her top hits from her 40 year long career. Unsurprisingly, she didn’t disappoint as she left the audience in awe with her endless outfit changes, saucy dance moves and emotional speeches.

Speaking on Loose Women today, Janet and her fellow panellists discussed Madonna’s return to the stage as they drew comparisons between her and Sir Mick Jagger. Admitting she’d rather go and see Cardi B or Nicki Minaj, she slammed Madonna as “outrageous”.

“I remember the first time he was in Hyde Park in the 60s. He still retains that at the age of 80. It takes a huge amount of work to stay that fit at that age, and diet and a lot of people behind you supporting you. With Madonna, she’s a brilliant entertainer. It’s not my cup of tea, I’ll admit. I’d rather go and see Cardi B and Nicki Minaj, because I just find that outrageous. They’re the right age to do it, flashing around in the bondage gear, and I’m like ‘oh love give it a rest,'” she said.

Fellow panellist Kelle Bryan added: “Someone like Madonna is committed to always evolving and changing with the music industry. I love the fact that she’s still doing what she’s doing, but I think some artists should give up the microphone.

“You remember them in a certain way, and they come back and you listen and go ‘oh that’s not what I quite remember,’ because their voice isn’t there and that’s a shame. I don’t want to feel sorry for them.”

Janet then left Brenda Edwards shocked when she added, “Well Madonna’s never really known for her voice, let’s be honest,” as the live audience gasped at her comment. During her appearance at the weekend, Madonna emotionally discussed her recent ill health.

“Are you OK over there? Oh my god it’s so good to be back London. I am pretty damn surprised I made it this far. I mean this on so many levels. How did I make it this far. Because of you . But I will take a bit of credit too. It’s so nice to see you again and be back. I will tell you my story of life but through music,” she told the tens of thousands who had gathered to see her.
