Frankie Bridge gobsmacked as she learns Rylan’s link to S Club Juniors before fame

Frankie Bridge is gutted she didn’t get to have some fun with Rylan during their teenage years, as the Loose Women presenter learns the former X Factor star once tried to join her first pop group, S Club Juniors

Frankie Bridge has only just discovered Rylan could have been her bandmate back in the day and is stunned by the revelation!

Former I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! star Frankie, 34, made her name in the music world alongside Rochelle Humes back in the 00s, when she was one eighth of S Club Juniors – the miniature version of S Club 7.

Frankie and Rochelle were joined six other young singers in their early teens when the band was assembled on reality TV two decades ago – with Rylan failing to make the final cut despite trying his luck at auditioning.

Taking to Instagram today, Frankie revealed how she discovered pal Rylan wanted to get the S Club party started as a kid and mused how much fun they could have had if the former X Factor star had been picked to join the band.

“Just heard that @nickichappers said on @bbcradio2 that Rylan auditioned for S Club Juniors [shocked face emoji],” the Loose Women star told her followers on her Instagram Stories.

She went on to add: “How did I not know this?! The fun we could have had!”

Nicki Chapman, who was a key figure during the 90s/00s pop music era, thanks to working with Simon Fuller and his management company 19 Entertainment, working with acts including Annie Lennox, Will Young, S Club 7 and the Spice Girls.

The Pop Idol judge was involved in creating the S Club Juniors line-up from thousands of hopefuls on the television series S Club Search in 2001.

Reposting Frankie’s Instagram Story on his own page today, Rylan cheekily added: “@nickichappers describes it as the biggest mistake she ever made (jokes).”

The It Takes Two presenter, 33, often pokes fun at his desire to join the band as a teenager, tweeting in April 2020: “Today’s thought: I’ll still never get over the fact I didn’t get into S Club Juniors tbh.”

While Rylan didn’t manage to follow his pop star dreams as a kid, Frankie and Rochelle did – with Jay Asforis, Daisy Evans, Calvin Goldspink, Stacey McClean, Aaron Renfree, Hannah Richings completing the lineup – before going on to join The Saturdays.

While S Club 7 may be ready to go on tour later this year to celebrate their 25th anniversary, fans of S Club Juniors and The Saturdays shouldn’t get their hopes up about more reunions from 00s bands.

“I just can’t imagine doing it, I’ll be totally honest with you,” Rochelle admitted last year when asked when The Saturdays comeback tour could take place.

“I’ve been there to see Marvin on the side of the stage, doing the whole groupie wife thing, but [The Saturdays] just feels like a lovely chapter that ended for me.”

Speaking on The Diary of a CEO podcast, Rochelle continued: “It was so lovely and I will always speak of it fondly, but it just feels like a period of my life that’s done.

“It would feel like… look, I’ve got three kids and there’s so many things that I turn down because it wouldn’t work for my life and that [a tour] falls into that.”
