Emmerdale’s Danny Miller has hit back at trolls after they slammed his wife Steph for breastfeeding their baby during the family’s appearance on Loose Women

Emmerdale star Danny Miller has hit back at trolls after his wife Steph breastfed their baby on live TV.

The actor, who is best known for his role as Aaron Dingle in the ITV soap, responded to the backlash his wife faced after their appearance on Friday’s Loose Women. The couple were on the daytime show to discuss the difficulties they faced falling pregnant, as Steph, who is a midwife, suffers from polycystic ovaries (PCOS), which can lead to fertility problems. However, some viewers found issue with the fact Steph decided to feed unsettled baby Edith on the Loose Women panel.

Danny has since made his thoughts very clear as he responded on social media. He wrote: “We had such a beautiful day today down @loosewomen talking all about life as a family of four and having two under two! I wanted to take this moment to say how incredibly proud I am of my wife @stephjones1710 – the most incredible Mother – for flying the breastfeeding flag and showing how when it’s needed, nothing comes before it.

“I bloody love this woman. In absolute awe of her. Breastfeeding is completely normal and natural. It’s food. It’s responding to the babies needs. It really is that simple. And whenever they need it, they should have it. Regardless of the situation. Including live television. I hope that Edith needing exactly that helps towards normalising breastfeeding wherever and whenever.”

In response, one fan said: “I was watching this afternoon and I literally thought ‘yes girl’ then thought ‘I bet some Karen has something to say about that’ but why should that thought even have crossed my mind?? I hope that there aren’t any negative comments or responses!! Lots of love a fellow midwife.” Danny replied: “Wasting their time if they do mate they just get deleted. You midwives are cut from a different cloth! Thank you for everything you do. All the love to you and yours and have a great weekend!”

Other fans shared their support for Steph as someone wrote: “Was a breath of fresh air seeing a mother feeding her child! It’s the most natural thing in the world ! Well done Steph ! Wish there was more women with this much strength to do this in general never mind on national Tv!” Another added: “After recently being sniggered at in a small cafe for feeding my 2 month old baby I have to say it totaly made me uncomfortable to feed in public again. Watching this gave me the motivation to feel confident to feed out of the house again.”

On the show, Steph, who had an intense water birth at home, introduced her daughter to the panellists and audience, and realising her daughter needed feeding, she discreetly began breastfeeding the newborn while Danny had their two-year-old son Albert on his knee. Emmerdale star Danny explained how they had navigated the emotional turmoil they faced when trying to get pregnant, and he realised his job was just to support Steph as she was given the fertility drug Clomid to help her get pregnant.

“That’s my role to be there for my partner Steph and that’s all I ever wanted to do was just support her the best I could and I think supporting each other through it worked, you know once you’ve got a shoulder to cry on,” he sweetly shared. Steph also spoke about her home birth with Edith, and said it was “amazing” as she recalled the intense 36-minute labour. “We had a home birth at my mum’s house as we were in the process of moving again and my mum was decorating her bedroom so it was empty. We put the pool up in mum’s room and it was amazing,” she said.
