EastEnders viewers ‘work out’ who really attacked Cindy Beale – but it’s not a suspect

EastEnders viewers believe someone who isn’t officially a suspect will be revealed as Cindy Beale’s attacker in the coming weeks on the BBC soap, after potential culprits were announced

Viewers think they know who really attacked Cindy Beale on EastEnders, ahead of her fate being confirmed.

The character was hit over the head with a metal shovel and left for dead on Christmas Day, with nine suspects named. Among them are her children Peter Beale, Gina Knight and Anna Knight, as well as her partner Ian Beale.

Then there’s her fling Junior Knight, her ex George Knight, daughter-in-law Lauren Branning and her love rival Elaine Peacock, not forgetting her mother-in-law Kathy Beale. But ahead of the name being announced to viewers in February as part of the BBC soap’s 40th anniversary, fans have shared a new theory.

They’re convinced it wasn’t one of the named suspects at all, and someone else caught up in the Christmas drama may have taken a brutal revenge. Kojo Asare, George’s brother and Junior’s uncle, was recently left fighting for his life after an incident with Cindy.

He tumbled off a fire escape stairwell after Cindy chased him, following him unearthing her affair with Junior. He kept quiet until Christmas when he spilled the beans about everything, after Cindy’s affair had already been exposed.

Kojo got upset after George lashed out at everyone, and as chaos ensued in the pub his niece Anna took him upstairs. Just before the attack happened we saw a scene of each potential suspect, with Kojo also seen onscreen at some point.

But Kojo was never declared a suspect by the soap and he did not feature in the promo photos of the suspects. It’s been suggested he isn’t one of the line-up almost as if he’s ruled out as being the attacker.

But some viewers think it’s a red herring, with them convinced Kojo could be the real attacker. With him not being named but being at the scene of the Christmas drama, and also having a motive, fans think he could be the one who left Cindy for dead.

He also vowed to help his brother after George asked for an alibi, so did Kojo actually do this to cover his own tracks? Viewers certainly think so, taking to X with their theories about the attack.

One viewer posted: “I think Kojo did it. Another agreed: “Kojo,” as a third said: “I think him too.” A fourth fan theory read: “My prediction is Kojo done Cindy.” This was echoed by another fan who posted: “Mine too,” whole a further tweet said: “I bet it was Kojo who attacked Cindy.”
