David Beckham’s $1 billion leg@l b@ttle has come to an end, will the money be returned as rumored?

On May 8, The Sun reported that DB Ventures, the company that manages David Beckham ‘s transactions , has launched two lawsuits in the US.

The new legal battle targets counterfeiters who sell  clothing, watches, perfume, sunglasses, video games, toys, soccer balls and sports equipment through marketplaces.

Electronics Amazon, eBay Etsy, Temu and Walmart.

There are a total of 492 defendants in the two lawsuits, mainly from Asia.

DB Ventures with the support of brand management company Authentic Brands Group (USA) wants compensation of 2 million VND from each defendant.

“Authentic Brands wants to stamp out this problem and stop people from selling fake David products.

They pride themselves on the quality of their products and people are being ripped off without even knowing it. They thought they got a bargain,” the source told The Sun.

According to court records obtained by The Sun , the sellers maliciously tricked people into thinking they were buying genuine items from the David Beckham brand.

David Beckham’s representative has not responded to information about the billion-dollar lawsuit.

However, this is not the first time the former famous player has shown fierceness in the fight against counterfeit goods .

In April, the legal team representing Beckham won a £240 million (nearly $300 million) lawsuit in the same US court against dozens of counterfeiters.

The judge in that case ordered a temporary detention and asset freeze against the defendants.

With that, counterfeiters were asked to stop selling and confiscate any profits they had accumulated.

“Their sales activities pose a real threat to DB Ventures’ brand, while also affecting the sustainability of their business. It also adversely impacts individuals and organizations who unwittingly purchase them,” the lawsuit said.

Papers filed with the court also highlighted how poor sales eroded the brand’s reputation, causing the company to lose revenue and incur significant losses.
