Comedian Chris McCausland was crowned the winner of 2024’s Strictly Come Dancing alongside professional dancer Dianne Buswell but he had a few things to say about Dancing On Ice
Comedian Chris McCausland has taken a cheeky swipe at Dancing On Ice stars, just a week after he lifted the Strictly Come Dancing trophy.
The comedian, who became the show’s first ever blind winner, will appear on this week’s episode of Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel on BBC One which sees him come face to face with another rival competition show, Dancing On Ice.
Whilst this year’s Strictly might be over for another year, ITV’s ice skating competition is just getting started with stars already rehearsing to be ready to get out on the ice. During his appearance on the quiz show, Chris didn’t miss his chance to make a cheeky joke at his fellow stars as he got comical about Dancing On Ice.
In the clip from the upcoming episode of The Wheel, Chris points at two of his co-stars on hand to help contestants answer quiz questions.

Pointing at Olympic ice skaters Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, who are also the stars of ITV’s Dancing On Ice, Chris joked: “This is the problem we have got – Torvill and Dean might very well be the GOATs of ice skating but I don’t think that anybody else on this Wheel could name two ice skaters that aren’t Torvill and Dean.”
He continued in the footage obtained by The Sun: “Unless the question lands on these guys [Torvill and Dean] or the answer is Torvill and Dean, we are gonna be here all night!” The cheeky comment was taken in good humour by Torvill and Dean who laughed it off as another celebrity on the show, radio presenter Nihal Arthanayake then added: “I know nothing about ice skating at all!”
Chris became the 20th winner of Strictly Come Dancing in last week’s final, which saw him beat Tasha Ghouri, JB Gill and Sarah Hadland to lift the Glitter Ball Trophy. After the news was announced that he’d been voted the winner, a shocked Chris said: “It’s astonishing. I don’t know what to say. I honestly thought I could go out in the first week or two. We have just lasted and lasted.”

He added: “This is for her and for everyone out there who thought… who got told they couldn’t do something or thought they couldn’t do it. With opportunity and support and determination anything can happen.”
He then thanked his Aussie partner Dianne and said: “She’s positivity, she’s belief, and she’s honestly just one of the easiest people to be funny with. She deserves this so much. She’s just honestly one of the easiest people to be funny with the other and unless she changes her number, she’s stuck with me.”
