Alison Hammond teases Big Brother return as she shares dream to host reboot

The This Morning star rose to fame after her successful stint on the show in 2002 and 20 years on, she said she wouldn’t mind making a return

Alison Hammond revealed she would ‘probably say yes’ if she was asked to host the new Big Brother.

The This Morning star rose to fame after her successful stint on the show in 2002 and 20 years on, she said she wouldn’t mind making a return.

She appeared on Loose Women on Wednesday afternoon when the conversation turned to the upcoming 2023 series.

Panellist Brenda Edwards excitedly said: “Speaking of the medium of television and you bringing joy, You are going to be bringing your joy to Big Brother?

“I would love to have you on there.”

Before viewers get too excited about the prospect, Alison responded: “I haven’t been asked to do it.”

Brenda swiftly joked: “I’ve asked you, is that not a question?”

Thinking of the idea of hosting, Alison slyly added: “You know what? If it came my way…”

She then went on to discuss how, just like This Morning, she never ‘sought out’ do take on the job.

“It was never on my radar to want to present this morning but it came my way. They asked me to do the job and I was like, ‘I’ve never really wanted that job. But you know what? Let me go and try it.’

“It was a bit hard at the beginning but now I absolutely love it. I’m enjoying it . Who knows if that came my way of course I’ll probably say yeah.”

The new series could air early next year with a cast of “carefully selected housemates from all walks of life” living together in a new-look site for up to six weeks.

Big Brother bosses were said to have thought she would be perfect to front the new series.

A source recently said: “Alison is top of the list to present next year’s Big Brother. Execs think she’s exactly what the show needs. She’s energetic, fun, relatable and she was on the show, so she knows it inside out.”

Big Brother ran from 2000 to 2018 on Channel 4, then switched to Channel 5. ITV2 will now take the reins.

The news was revealed earlier this year, over the summer, after months of reports that the channel had taken the show on.

A teaser showing the famous logo appeared on screens during the Love Island final in August, leaving fans thrilled.
