A Place in the Sun’s Jasmine Harman shares why she broke into tears on ITV’s Loose Women

A Place in the Sun host Jasmine Harman has reflected on her emotional interview on Loose Women earlier this week, in which she spoke about her late colleague Jonnie Irwin

A Place in the Sun host Jasmine Harman has addressed her emotional interview on Loose Women in which she reflected on the loss of her late colleague Jonnie Irwin.

The TV presenter, 48 – who has worked on the Channel 4 property series since 2004 – was a guest on the ITV panel show on Wednesday. During the interview, she became emotional whilst discussing her late pal and former co-star.

Following the episode, Jasmine took to Instagram this week to address the support she’s received. She shared a photo of herself beside panelists Denise Welch, Kaye Adams, Brenda Edwards and Janet Street-Porter in the studio.

She wrote in the post’s caption: “Thanks to the team [at Loose Women] for having me today. It’s emotional and it still feels raw talking about Jonnie. It was really great to meet everyone today though, and thank you for your support.”

Jasmine continued in the message: “To be honest I was already feeling a bit sensitive [on Wednesday] having been reading the news about all the atrocities going on in the world at the moment. We should all support each other, no matter what we are going through. Sending lots of love.”

During the recent interview, Jasmine spoke about her late colleague Jonnie. It comes following the news in February that he had passed away, aged 50, more than three years since he had been diagnosed with terminal cancer.

After seeing some photos of them together, Jasmine said: “Looking at these old photos, it chokes me up actually.” She also shared that she had met Jonnie when they worked on the pilot episode for A Place in the Sun two decades ago.

She said: “We didn’t always film together cause we were always in different countries but we used to get together at [events for the show] all the time. We became good friends.” Reflecting on her loss, she said: “It’s really a hard time…”

Loose Women panelist Kaye added: “This is fresh and we totally appreciate this, Jasmine. I mean, it’s only been a matter of months since Jonnie passed away and the loss of a friend is a very particular … I mean, all loss is difficult, but the loss of a friend going back 20 years is a very particular loss, isn’t it? I don’t know, because one reflects on your life.”

Jasmine agreed, saying: “Absolutely and I think you y’know you never know what’s around the corner and I think Jonnie’s situation, we can all take something from it.” She then appeared teary-eyed and was given a tissue by Denise.

Further sharing her thoughts, Jasmine said moments later whilst on the panel of the ITV show: “We can all just cherish every day and live with as much joy as possible, and that’s what he did.” She also thanked fans for their support.
