Sammy Sosa, thе former star of the Chіcagо Cubs, rеcеntlу camе back tо thе cіtу оf Chіcagо. This marked his first appearance in Chicago in almost 17 years, as he made his way for an event. As a result of this the excitement among fans was on a high level as they got to witness him live. However, his visit did not turn as smoothly as he hoped for as a question regarding his alleged usage of PEDs stunned him.

The 55-year-old is one of the nine players in MLB history to hit over 600 home runs. While this feat in itself shows how good of a player he was, many have claimed he used Performance-Enhancing Drugs (PEDs). This allegation have always put a bad mark on his career.

So as Sosa made his return to Chicago, he perhaps wanted to avoid this question once again. During an interview, the seven-time MLB All-Star claimed he was willing to recognize some of his former mistakes and rectify them.

This lead to a reporter asking him whether this “mistakes” were the usage of PEDs. Sosa would get so upset about this question that he would abruptly leave the interview in the middle while taking shots at the reporter.

This is, um, um, not a question that I expected from you. This is not an interview that I’m really going to sit down and do with you with that piece right now. But, like I said, I feel great. Let’s see what happens.

During the time this allegations were made, Cubs owner Tom Ricketts called him out and urged him to speak the truth and admit the usage of steroids. Sosa though kept on denying it and thus saw his ties with the organization go down.

Appearing at The Steve Cochran Show, Sosa admitted he was getting close to mend his relationship with the team.

We’re getting close. I don’t determine any of that. I’m here, I’m available, and let’s see what happens. I think it’s going to happen, but in time.

However, when the team were asked about this development, spokesperson Julian Green claimed, “There’s nothing new to report.” It seems the team are still not in the mood to forgive one of the greats for the damage his alleged PEDs usage brought to the team name. It will be interesting to whether Sosa will be successful in getting in the good books of the Cubs in the future.
