Taylor Swift comes under fire as wild theory claims she watched Travis Kelce’s Chiefs game in New York to bury stories on the internet about her heavy use of private jets

Taylor Swift has come under fire since a wild new theory has emerged over why she specifically attended Travis Kelce’s game in New York against the Jets last weekend.

The pop star was shown on MetLife Stadium’s jumbotron during the Chiefs’ narrow 23-20 win on Sunday several times, to the delight of Swifties and anger of NFL fans.

But, now, the 12-time Grammy-winning artist is being called out on social media for a a perceived clever SEO strategy to try to detract people from knowing about her use of private jets.

Swift fan Britney Muller outlined her theory on X, calling it a ‘PR Masterclass’, as she essentially wanted to look up Swift’s contribution (or lack of) to the ongoing climate crisis by searching for keywords including the singer’s name and ‘jet’. But, Google only showed information pertaining to her appearance in Week 4 of NFL action.

Swift owns two multi-million dollar planes: a Dassault Falcon 7x, registered N621MM under Island Jet Inc.; and a Dassault Falcon 900, registered N898TS under SATA LLFC. Both companies are tied to Taylor Swift Productions in Nashville, Tennessee, according to documents from the Tennessee Secretary of State.

Swift appeared to have consumed seven days worth of time spent in the air onboard her jet, or about 166 hours, flying to and from concert venues, according to aircraft-tracking website JetSpy.

What’s more, is that the ‘You Belong with Me’ hitmaker took 104 flights this year, with 86 of them taking place ever since the start of her ‘Eras’ Tour in Glendale, Arizona, in March, Insider reported.

A spokesperson for Swift previously told the financial and business news website that the 33-year-old is working to lessen her jets’ carbon emissions by traveling less frequently than in previous years.

‘Before the tour kicked off in March of 2023, Taylor purchase more than double the carbon credits needed to offset all tour travel,’ the spokesperson told Insider.

The average flight time experienced by Swift during her nationwide tour was just under two hours. Her shortest flight was an eight-minute trip from a small airport in Van Nuys, California, to Burbank, California on March 26. Both airports are located in Los Angeles.

Swift’s longest flight was on July 2, when she flew her Dassault 7x jet to Bob Hope Airport in Burbank from Groton New London Airport in Connecticut. That flight was roughly five hours and apparently a part of a return trip from an airport near one of her houses in Rhode Island.

Swift would also regularly make duplicate flights in one day or flew from several spots to the same destination, usually Nashville – her adopted hometown. Swift also owns homes in New York and Beverly Hills, according to The Wall Street Journal.

While she was still touring, Swift’s jets would often depart from tour location late at night – usually around the hours of 11 p.m. to midnight – to return to Nashville as early as 4 to 5 a.m. on the next day.

When she traveled back east from Kansas City after watching Travis Kelce – her new beau – and the Chiefs for the first time last month, Swift rented a Hawker Beechcraft 4000, instead of taking one of the two jets she owns. The Beechcraft burns around 2,600 pounds of fuel over its first hour of flight time and subsequent hours are 1,800 to 1,900 pounds.

Swift’s total flight emissions for the year come in at 8,293.54 tones, or 1,184.8 times more than the average person’s total annual emissions, according to Yard, making the ‘Shake It Off’ singer the  biggest celebrities CO2 polluter of the last 365 days so far.

Swift’s spokesperson previously told E! News that she regularly lends her jets out.

‘To attribute most or all of these trips to her is blatantly incorrect,’ said the singer’s representative in July of 2022.

Swift is planning to take her ‘Eras’ Tour to Canada, South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia later this year and in 2024. She also announced her intention to tour again in the US next year.

Swift is on track to rack in more than $1billion in ticket sales, which would make her tour the highest-grossing one of all time, according to Pollstar.
