Sharon Osbourne has revealed doctors ‘can’t figure out’ why she hasn’t been able to gain weight back after she stopped using Ozempic months ago.

The music manager, 71, has been open about her struggle to put weight back on after shedding 42lbs using the drug – which is used for treating people with diabetes.

Asked about her weight loss in an interview with Woman Magazine released on Tuesday, Sharon said that even medics are stumped by her inability to gain the weight back.

‘The doctors can’t figure it out,’ she said. ‘But I think it’s just because I’m getting older and as you get older you lose weight anyway and shrink and shrivel off.’

Sharon started taking Ozempic in December 2022 and in November 2023 she told Mail On Sundayl: ‘I’ve been off it a while now.’

She underwent gastric band surgery in 1999 but has now said that she used to ‘eat around it’, admitting to consuming two pints of ice cream every day.

Of why she decided to start receiving Ozempic injections, Sharon said ‘everyone was doing it’.

Ozempic works by suppressing hunger hormones, leaving users feeling fuller for longer, and contrary to Sharon’s experience, studies have show that users are at risk of putting weight back on very quickly.

Sharon was Celebrity Big Brother’s first ever ‘celebrity lodger’ as the series returned earlier this month for the first time in five years.

While on the show, Sharon opened up about her weight loss journey with Coronation Street actor Colson Smith – who lost an impressive 10 stone after changing his lifestyle in 2020 by taking up running.

During the conversation, Sharon described losing weight as a ‘killer’ and claimed people who don’t need to lose weight have ‘no idea what it’s like’ to drop the pounds.

In January, Sharon revealed that she wanted to ‘put back on another 10lbs’ after her weight loss – where she said she became ‘too gaunt’.

Sharon spoke about her weight loss journey on Loose Women and said she is struggling to put weight on after shedding the pounds using diabetes drug Ozempic.

She explained: ‘Everything on weight with me was like ‘I want it now’. The injections that I was on worked and just seems now I can’t put anything on.’

Sharon added: ‘I lost over 40lbs, If I could I would put back another 10.

‘I’m just an ordinary person who got lucky and I didn’t take advantage of that. I never want to forget I am blessed and been really lucky in my life.’

She also recalled good old days where she filmed MTV reality show The Osbournes with her family, which host Christine Lampard described as the predecessor of The Kardashians.

Sharon explained: ‘It was very organic because nothing was planned. We filmed 24 hours and there were two different film crews.’

The TV personality also gave a health update on her rocker husband Ozzy, 75, and said he is ‘good’ – amid his battle with Parkinson’s disease after being diagnosed in 2019.

She also took on being a woman in a male-dominated industry, adding: ‘Women now are in positions of power now more than they have ever been, but men still think the same way.’

‘I had to protect myself by being a big mouth, by being overly vocal. I became a character that I really developed myself,’ she revealed.

Sharon hasn’t shied away from discussing her significant weight loss journey, talking to the Mail On Sunday about her weight-loss.

She said: ‘At the end of the 1990s, I had an operation to have my stomach “banded”. The result was that I didn’t need to eat so much to feel full.

‘I was never a druggie. When Ozzy and I were first together, I’d try to keep up with his drinking, but I was useless. One wine gum and I’m on the floor.

‘No, my weakness has always been food. When I’m happy, I eat. When I’m sad, I eat. I was a pig. At my heaviest, I weighed 225lb — that’s just over 16 stone. And I’m only 5ft 2in. I weighed more than my husband.

‘So, I made it my business to lose almost half my body weight. The result was that I had flesh hanging everywhere. My breasts were flat and sagging.’

Sharon added she underwent a ‘string of cosmetic procedures’ starting with a brow-lift and face-lift.

‘I had liposuction on my neck and had it lifted, too. I had my breasts lifted, my arms lipo-ed and my tummy tucked. I had my bum lifted and implants inserted.’

‘Then I had a face-lift three-and-a-half years ago, but the guy messed up. I was left with one eye higher than the other. It took a year to put it all right. I frightened myself with what happened,’ the TV favourite recalled.

‘Last December, I resorted to injecting myself with Ozempic, a semaglutide that fools the brain into thinking you’re not hungry. I lost 42lb — that’s 3st — but it was too much.

‘Now, I weigh just over 7st. I need to put on 10lb, but however much I eat, I stay the same weight.’
