Real reason Prince Harry didn’t wear King’s Coronation medal as he gives bizarre excuse

Prince Harry sparked outrage for not wearing King Charles’s Coronation medals during his video appearance last week.

Prince Harry had a bizarre excuse for not wearing King Charles’s Coronation medals in new video, it has emerged.

Whilst presenting the ‘Soldier of the Year’ award at an award ceremony, Prince Harry chose not to wear a Coronation medal given to him by his father King Charles.

The Coronation medal was handed to everyone actively contributing and supporting the monarch’s Coronation, which took place on May 6 last year.

Despite not wearing the medal, Harry wore four other British military medals – and has a bizarre excuse for not wearing the one from his father last year.

As reported by the Daily Mail, a source pointed out Harry’s decision wasn’t an intentional snub to his father.

The decision was, instead, due to the medal being “swing-mounted” on a short ribbon and that it needed to be sent to a specialist to affix to a longer ribbon.

The article added that this would be to “stop it from swinging around” when it is worn.

In the new video, Harry presented the award to US combat medic, Sergeant First Class Elizabeth Marks, hailing the medic for her “courage, resilience and determination”.

Although the Coronation medal was absent, Harry sported four military medals on his smart black suit jacket.

He wore his Operational Service Medal for Afghanistan, which he earned in 2008 for his service in Helmand Province, the late Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal, which was awarded in 2002 to everyone who had been in active service for five years, Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, which was given to members of the emergency services, Armed Forces, prison service, and the royal household in 2012 and the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Medal.

Harry flew to the UK last May to make an appearance at the historic Coronation to support his father.

Although he made the long journey from California to London, Harry’s visit was very short, with the former working leaving for the airport shortly after the service.

The father-of-two said to be eager to get home to celebrate his son Archie’s birthday – which also occurred on the same day as the Coronation.

His wife Meghan Markle remained in America with their children, Archie – who turns five next week – and Lilibet, two.

Harry is set to return to the UK next week for a special ceremony to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games in London.

The ceremony will take place at St Paul’s Cathedral on May 8, with the 39-year-old flying to Nigeria with Meghan afterwards.

Meghan is said to not be joining Harry in the UK for the ceremony, and will meet him in Nigeria instead.
