The Princess of Wales is expected to make her “longest journey” yet since announcing she had been diagnosed with cancer, as the future Queen is set to join the rest of the royals in Scotland.

Princess Kate has not travelled a lot this year, unless necessary, as she undergoes preventative chemotherapy for an unspecified type of cancer.

Now royal sources told the Mail that Kate will likely join her husband, Prince William and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis as they head to Balmoral Castle with the rest of the Firm for their annual summer break.

The Royal Family traditionally travel to the Scottish Highlands every summer to relax in the peaceful countryside.

Kate has largely kept away from the public gaze this year, making only two appearances, one in June for Trooping the Colour and a second one in July for the Wimbledon finals.

Both events took place in London, which is roughly an hour’s drive from Windsor, where she lives with her family.

Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire, on the other hand, is 510 miles away from Adelaide Cottage which could take around nine hours to travel.

The latest news can be seen as the princess making “good progress” with her cancer treatment, the report stressed.

Back in March, the future Queen broke the nation’s heart when she bravely announced in an emotional video message that she had been diagnosed with cancer, following a major abdominal surgery in January.

In her latest update regarding her health, the night before the Trooping the Colour ceremony, Kate revealed her innermost thoughts and said she’s “not out of the woods yet”.

The Princess of Wales opened up about how she has “good days and bad days” and said her treatment will be ongoing for a few more months.

She said: “I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days.

“I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much-needed time to heal.”
