Prince Harry left royal staff shocked with 17-word statement about kids

The Duke of Sussex made a poignant confession during one of his trips which left royal staff speechless.

Prince Harry once opened up about having his own children and his statement raised eyebrows among royal staff, it has been claimed.

The Duke of Sussex may have now settled in Montecito, California, with his wife, Meghan Markle andtheir two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, but that was not always the case.

Months before he met the duchess, Harry revealed that he was ready to have children of his own, however there was one thing stopping him.

During a trip to New Zealand in 2015, just after the Prince and Princess of Wales had welcomed Princess Charlotte, the duke spoke to Sky News’ royal correspondent Rhiannon Mills about his future plans.

When Ms Mills asked him if he would like to have children, the duke allegedly said: “I’d love to have kids right now, but there’s a process that you have to go through.”

According to the royal commentator, who spoke to the Sun, Harry’s statement made royal staff wonder, “Oh my goodness, why did he say that?”

She also claimed that the duke said he wanted to have someone alongside him “to support him”.

Harry’s wish appeared to be fulfilled when he and Meghan began dating sometime in 2016 and tied the knot in 2018.

Elsewhere, the royal correspondent claimed that the prince made a heartbreaking confession to her after their interview.

She said: “I said to him, ‘Have you ever thought about moving away?’ He was like, ‘Yes, I’d love to. I’d love to move away.

“‘But I can’t because of what I need to do to support the Queen’.”

“So whenever anyone says to me, that it was Meghan’s fault they left, that conversation always springs to mind because he always had it in him – this potential to jump.”
