Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ‘exhaustingly difficult’ say Palace insiders

Palace sources have admitted that the ‘Sussex situation’ wasn’t handled well but claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are hard to help as they see conspiracy ‘at every turn’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are hard to help as they make everything “exhaustingly difficult”, Palace insiders have allegedly claimed.

Sources have reportedly admitted to the Daily Mail that the Palace didn’t handle the “Sussex situation” well, but said the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who stepped down as senior royals and moved to California in 2020, see conspiracy “at every turn”, meaning that it’s difficult to support them. One insider who lived through the crisis said Harry “wasn’t happy” and “couldn’t hide that”, so leaving Britain was the best choice for the Sussexes.

The source said Harry “needed to make a break” and leave what was described as “a horrible, toxic atmosphere” which eventually led him to cut ties with his family in Britain – a topic he discussed extensively in TV interviews, the couple’s Netflix documentary and his memoir, Spare. The source’s comments came ahead of Harry’s 40th birthday.

The Duke is set to celebrate the milestone with his wife and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, at their home in Montecito, and will reportedly see his closest friends after that. However, no members of the Royal Family are expected to join the celebrations. Talking to the Mail, a source said Harry’s relationship with his brother, Prince William, is “non-existent” as the Prince of Wales “feels betrayed” by his younger brother and “has other priorities.”

Another source described the brothers’ relationship as “a complicated beast” but said there are hopes of reconciliation in the future, adding: “I’d still like to think they might talk, one day. But there’s a long road ahead and we certainly aren’t any closer to that today.”

It comes amid reports that Harry reportedly enlisted a new UK press agent to help bolster his image back home. Despite some negative press in the UK, the Duke of Sussex can take solace in the fact that he’s more popular than his father across the pond.

A YouGov poll commissioned by The Times reveals that 49 per cent of Americans have a positive view of Harry, compared to just 38 per cent for King Charles. However, it’s not all rosy for Harry, as his elder brother, Prince William, leads the popularity poll with a commendable 54% of Americans expressing a favourable opinion of him.

His wife Meghan ranked slightly below King Charles in the same poll, with 36 per cent of respondents having a positive impression of her. Queen Camilla fared the worst, with only 25 per cent of Americans holding a positive view and 31% expressing negative sentiments.

Back in the UK, Harry didn’t fare as well in a similar poll, with only 26 per cent of respondents feeling positively about him. King Charles, on the other hand, enjoyed much higher popularity, scoring well with approximately 63 per cent of the random sample. Camilla also enjoys greater popularity in the UK than in the US, with 49 per cent of British respondents expressing a positive view of her.
