Martin Lewis’ wife has been axed by the BBC after 15 years.

Lara Lewington, 45, broke the news on X that her show, Click, had been canned, posting: “Here’s to the future… some PERSONAL NEWS: After 15 years of covering some of the greatest technology on earth, sadly in a few months BBC Click will gaze into the future no more.

“I’ve many exciting plans, documentaries to finish, being AI agony aunt on @lorraine and a compelling future health tech related project coming next year.”

Lamenting the loss of the technology show, she continued: “The BBC gave us an amazing opportunity to cover the tech that has, and will transform our lives, in ways we could never have imagined. It is a shame to see our dear show come to an end at this moment of AI transformation and incredible acceleration in innovation and possibility, but such are the economic constraints.”

Lara, who presented the weekly programme with Spencer Kelly, has now joined the Lorraine show on ITV as its resident tech expert in a role created specifically for her.

Announcing her career news earlier this year, she took to X, posting: “Excited to announce I’ve joined the @ITV @lorraine team as TV’s first AI Agony Aunt. I’ll be breaking down the facts and answering viewers’ questions on AI and tech. Much important stuff to discuss on what it means to be human in the age of AI.”

Having spent six years at Channel 5 as a weather presenter and showbiz correspondent, Lara featured in a weekly sketch on ITV1’s The Impressionable Jon Culshaw. She was a panellist on ITV1’s Win, Lose or Draw and has made appearances on Newsnight, Big Brother’s Big Mouth, The Weakest Link and BBC’s Let’s Dance for Sports Relief.

However, despite her popularity with viewers, she has been slammed by trolls for being attracted to Money Saving Expert, Martin, solely for his money.

Martin shut down the claims responding to an offensive tweet on X, saying: “I know you think it’s a joke, but actually it’s offensive both to me and my wife – you’re accusing her of being a gold digger.”

Lara has been married to the journalist for 15 years and the couple share a daughter, who Martin says is his “mini MSE”. The numbers man has been behind some incredibly successful campaigns over the last two decades, including taking on unfair bank charges, uncapped energy bills and student finance.
