Prince Harry’s close bond with one key royal could pave the way for reconciliation talks with the Firm in the future, says expert.
Princess Eugenie could “possibly” pave the path for reconciliation talks between Prince Harry and the Royal Family as the duke “clearly trusts” her, a royal expert has claimed.
The Duke of Sussex has had strained relations with some members of his family in the UK ever since he stepped down as a senior working royal and moved to the US with wife Meghan Markle in 2020.
But the couple, who no longer have a UK base after being evicted from Frogmore Cottage last year, have reportedly bought a new holiday home in Portugal, close to Princess Eugenie and Jack Brookbank’s property.
Now a royal expert suggested that Harry’s close bond with his cousin could provide a bridge for reconciliation talks in the future.
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told OK!: “Eugenie undoubtedly does have something of a challenge on her hands to maintain good relationships with both Harry and Meghan – and the rest of the Royal Family.

“But I think the King is probably happy that Harry still has at least one royal cousin he clearly trusts, and presumably wants to see more of. The family are all so busy that they don’t really see that much of one another.”
She added: “However, I think it’s a positive thing that Charles does have someone he can quietly ask about Harry‘s well-being if he is so inclined. And Harry can presumably gauge the mood of the family via Eugenie.
“Any reconciliation – which at this stage still seems unlikely – has to start somewhere and with someone. And that person could possibly be Eugenie… but don’t hold your breath.”
Ms Bond went on to suggest that the Sussexes’s latest purchase could also provide benefits to their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, as it could help them build relationships with members of the Royal Family by playing with Eugenie’s sons, August and Ernest Brooksbank.

She explained: “I think it perhaps suggests that they do want their children to know at least some of their UK family.
“It will be good for Archie and Lilibet to spend time with their little cousins, and Eugenie will remain an important link between Harry and the rest of his family.
“And that’s a positive move because it implies that the children won’t be solely immersed in American culture and will have a better understanding of their European roots.”
