Emmerdale returnee Tina Dingle caused quite a scene at her late father Zak Dingle’s funeral as her plan was rumbled, and now viewers have learned a ‘shocking’ secret about her

Emmerdale’s Tina Dingle found her criminal past exposed on the ITV soap this week, with fans learning her secret.

The character, now played by Samantha Power after original actress Jacqueline Pirie turned down the chance to return, headed back to the village after 28 years on Thursday night. As the Dingles gathered to say goodbye to icon Zak Dingle after his sudden and heartbreaking death, his estranged daughter Tina soon joined her family leaving them reeling.

But a bigger shock came for the family after Tina taunted them all about their lives and what’s gone on in her absence. Having called them all ‘ex-cons’, she soon had a criminal secret of her own.

Charity Dingle, Chas Dingle and the others were stunned to spot Tina was wearing an electronic tag, realising that she had likely been in prison herself. Charity taunted her saying: “Tina Dingle is that a tag? So we’ve been a naughty girl then have we? Ex-con, ex-con, ex-con.”

Soon the police arrived and announced she had broken the conditions of her tag or her release a day early. Tina revealed the tag was coming off the next day, but the police took her away.

It wasn’t revealed if she would head back to court or prison, while given she went away willingly it doesn’t seem she will face trouble. That said it wasn’t actually revealed why she was wearing it and if she’d been locked up.

We also don’t know what crime she had committed to end up with the tag, and if she was in prison, how long she was in there for. It is clear though that she has committed a crime just like several of her relatives.

There’s still plenty to find out about the returning character given she’s been offscreen for 28 years. Zak had said in the past that he was not in contact with his daughter, and no one else seemed to know where she was either.

That said, Tina confirmed to the family on Thursday that she had remained in contact with her cousin Mandy Dingle. Mandy seemed awkward about this, while it was clear none of them knew about it.

Mandy tried to suggest it was only through Christmas cards and the odd message, but it seems they’ve done a lot of talking. Tina seemed to know everything about her estranged relatives leaving them stunned. Whether Tina will bring more drama remains to be seen!
