EastEnders viewers are convinced they’ve rumbled Ian Beale’s secret as spoilers reveal he’s hiding something on the BBC soap.

The Walford legend sparks serious concern this week, as it’s revealed he’s been lying to his family. His son Peter Beale is determined to get to the bottom of the mystery, as he realises Ian is hiding his true whereabouts. Not only that but he’s preoccupied with something, snapping at people and refusing to reveal what is bothering him. So what is wrong with Ian, and could there be concerning scenes on the way?

Taking to social media, viewers have already been predicting Ian’s secret, predicting it could involve a former Albert Square resident. It was recently revealed that Chrissie Watts is making an explosive return to Albert Square – as Tracy-Ann Oberman reprises her role.

The iconic resident of the Square will make her return in the autumn, nearly two decades after she made her debut on the BBC soap. Chrissie left Walford back in 2005 when she was put in prison for the murder of her husband Den Watts. Fans will remember that, along with Sam Mitchell and Zoe Slater, Chrissie buried Den’s body under the floor of the Queen Vic and she lied about what really happened for months, living with Sharon Watts, Den’s adoptive daughter, and his son Dennis Rickman.

Whilst Sam was initially held for the crime, Grant and Phil Mitchell worked hard to free their sister – and thus Chrissie went down for what happened. She was only there for a year and half but made quite a few enemies, especially in the form of Den’s beloved ‘Princess’ Sharon. Her return storyline is being kept under wraps but bosses have promised that her return will, of course, be explosive.

Viewers think that Ian could be secretly teaming up with Chrissie, which will tie into her return storyline, and could be his revenge on his ex-wife Sharon, who previously attempted to kill him by poisoning him. One person said: “What if Ian and Chrissie are working together? #Eastenders” while a different account put: “Maybe Ian is being secretive on the phone next week as he’s calling up Chrissie to get her help to orchestrate an elaborate revenge on Sharon for tryna kill him a few years ago?” Elsewhere, another fan predicted a different character return, suggesting: “Manifesting this ian secrecy stuff is to do with jane and it ties to bobby’s exit #EastEnders.”
