Meghan Markle just attended the LA Children’s Hospital Gala ‘for the photographs’, a former friend has claimed.

British socialite Lizzie Cundy, 56, was present at the event with the Duchess of Sussex last Saturday.

The Duchess of Sussex swapped her usual slicked-back hairstyle for a more wavy look and opted for minimal ­jewellery and more subtle make-up.

Wearing a red dress she first wore in 2021, Meghan joked to a boy at the gala that ‘it’s past your bedtime for sure’.  She then told his mother: ‘How old are they? Oh, so really close to our kids.’ Harry and Meghan’s son Archie is five and daughter ­Lilibet is three.

When the duchess wore the ­Carolina Herrera gown at a 2021 gala, she had heavy eye make-up. Saturday’s solo appearance, which saw the train of her $5,990 (£4,568) dress removed for a simpler look, came as Harry embarked on a two-week ‘quasi royal tour’ without her.

Ms Cundy, 56, who wore a $339 (£259) Pia Michi dress to the event, told the Mail: ‘There wasn’t a great deal of warmth from people when she arrived. She wasn’t there long – she seemed to be there for the photographs.’

She added: ‘Meghan needs LA more than LA needs her. LA people feel they’ve been played by her. I’d have worn a different one if I’d known.’

She was also disappointed to find that the Duchess of Sussex wore a similar dress to hers and said: ‘I’d have worn a different one if I’d known.’

Speaking back in 2021, she said: ‘We have a clip of her saying, ‘I want to be a London girl, I love London men and I love everything to do with London.’

‘I was asked to look after Meghan when she came over here. She wanted to meet someone.’

But the socialite claimed Meghan later cut all contact with her, adding: ‘She ghosted me once the engagement hit.

‘She’s ghosted quite a lot of people, obviously, including her family, so I’m not the worst person she’s ghosted.’

At the event last week, Meghan was joined on the carpet by Kelly McKee Zajfen, the co-founder for the Alliance of Moms, an LA ‘community of philanthropists who support pregnant and parenting teens in LA’s foster care system.’

Meghan then greeted Paul Viviano, a health care leader and a national children’s health care advocate, giving him a warm hug after posing with Kelly.

It is also understood that Harry did not spend his 40th birthday night last month with Meghan, 43, and instead went hiking with friends.

The pair’s separate engagements have raised speculation, though sources close to the Sussexes maintain it was Meghan who booked the hiking trip for Harry.

Contacts in California told the Mail they believe the new ‘solo Harry’ is his idea. ‘I believe he wants space,’ said one.

A London source said: ‘This definitely feels like he is upping his game to cement his position as a serious player on the international stage.

‘He’s always been desperate to be taken seriously.’

Speaking on GB News, Mr Walker said: “I think King Charles does love Harry’s two children, Lilibet and Archie, who he hasn’t seen much since they were born. That must be very hard for King Charles to deal with – and I think he does want to see them more often.

“William and Catherine, on the other hand – as we understand it, there is very, very limited, contact between William and his brother Harry.”

It’s understood that the infamous feud hit rock bottom upon the release of Prince Harry’s controversial book “Spare”, in which years of private conversations were brought to light without the sign-off of many of those involved.

“I do think that Harry and Meghan have a dilemma with their family life, because the children are getting older, and the children are probably absolutely intrigued to know what their cousins are like. They wouldn’t remember them.”

“And I think that maybe an invitation from Charles Spencer might be attractive, and they would meet other cousins. But then it’s going to raise a lot of questions.”

She added, “Is Harry going to see his father? Is he going to see any other members of his family? So I would think at the moment they’re undecided. They seem to make a lot of fairly last-minute decisions in their lives.”

Sydney officials were left ‘disappointed’ by one very unusual aspect of King Charles’s visit to New South Wales Parliament on Sunday – and it’s all to do with a toilet!

On what was Charles and Camilla’s first full day of engagements on their royal tour, the monarch met with representatives and gave a short speech as he attended the launch of an exhibition marking the 200th anniversary of the Legislative Council, Australia’s first parliament.

But it was his failure to take a loo break that raised eyebrows. According to the Australian Daily Telegraph , MPs were desperately hoping to finally get their money’s worth after costly renovations to the toilets 30 years ago in advance of a visit by the late Queen Elizabeth.

It seems no expense was spared for the 1992 visit, with the toilet specifically upgraded ahead of Her Majesty’s arrival to ensure it was ‘soundproof’. The renovations are believed to have cost some AUS$18,000 (£9,263) at the time, the equivalent today of around $40,000 (£30,000).

The toilet in question is located in the Upper House President’s office suite, which was allocated to the Queen and Prince Philip as a place to ‘rest’ in between their parliamentary engagements. Staff were even told to ensure the Queen’s ‘preferred drinks’, including her favoured brand of gin, were available should she wish for refreshment. But insiders later confirmed there was ‘no evidence’ that the Queen ever used the facilities.

Ahead of the King’s visit, MPs had joked that their Upper House President, Ben Franklin, had just ‘one job’ to do for when the King attended parliament. “Ben has one KPI – ensure the King uses the toilet so we can get our money’s worth,” one cheekily told the newspaper.

But it was all in vain. In the end, His Majesty was in the building for just 20 minutes, meeting and greeting representatives and giving a short speech before departing – having not used the bathroom.

As the couple jetted into Australia , they praised their host’s “extraordinarily rich cultures and communities”. In a message posted on the royal family social media channels, Charles and Camilla said: “Ahead of our first visit to Australia as King and Queen, we are really looking forward to returning to this beautiful country to celebrate the extraordinarily rich cultures and communities that make it so special. See you there!”

Their very first official engagement took part on Sunday at St Thomas’ Anglican church in North Sydney. It was in fact the third day of their six-day tour of Australia – but apart from some handshakes upon landing on Friday night, it was the public’s first chance to see the couple after a rest day on Saturday. The schedule has been designed not to overly tire the king, who is being treated for cancer.

Rumours of a reconciliation between Prince Harry and the Royal Family continue to grow despite the Duke of Sussex having quit royal duties in 2020 and moving to Montecito, California, with his wife Meghan Markle, to grow his young family.

While his father, King Charles and older brother, Prince William could be considering the idea of reconcilliation, an insider claims one royal is still resistant to forgiveness – Queen Camilla.

Harry released a bombshell memoir in January 2023, writing claims bout Camilla, and comparing her to a “wicked stepmother”, accusing her of having an agenda to work on her public image.

Speaking to Closer Magazine, the insider said: “Not everyone is keen on that idea, but Camilla is opposed to Harry making any sort of return, even for a friendly visit. She doesn’t want to come face to face with him, let alone show him any kind of forgiveness or mercy.”

The insider added she thinks he is a “wolf in sheep’s clothing”, insisting he brings “stress and drama” to situations.

They added: “It’s her belief that any interaction King Charles has with him is only going to be bad for his health and for the family as a whole. If Harry does get the invite back to the UK, he’d be wise to stay far away from Camilla.”

Royal tour outrage as Queen Victoria statue attacked with red paint before King arrives

A famous statue of Queen Victoria in Sydney’s city centre has been vandalised with red paint, just hours before King Charles and Queen Camilla were due to tour the city.

The Royal couple are scheduled to meet the public outside the Sydney Opera House, not far from the defaced statue.

Police have cordoned off the area around the statue, located outside the Queen Victoria Building in the central business district, following the incident.

This comes just a day after a verbal attack on the King and Queen by Aboriginal Australian Senator Lidia Thorpe at Parliament House in Canberra.
