‘Seven Deadly Sins’ Georgia schoolboy, 15, ‘shoots brother 17, dead, and blasts dad in head’

A teenager has been charged with murdering his 17-year-old brother and blasting his father in the head.

Jarrell Lariscy Jr., 15, allegedly took the life of Johnny Lariscy and wounded Jarrell Lariscy Sr., 35, with a shotgun just outside their home in the Nevils area of Bulloch County, Georgia. The tragedy unfolded at around 10.50am on Saturday when police responded to reports of a shooting near the Waters Cemetery Road/Highway 46 area, according to WSAV.com.

Johnny sadly died after he was brought to a hospital in nearby Statesboro. But Jarrell Sr survived the harrowing incident and is being treated in Memorial Hospital in Savannah. A GoFundMe page set up for the dad revealed he had suffered ‘a gunshot wound to the head’.

Police told reporters at a press conference that both victims had been hit with ‘pellets from a shotgun’, according to Statesboro Herald. Speaking about the case Captain Todd Hutchens, from The Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office, said: “Basically, the 15-year-old shot his brother and shot his father, just in this unfortunate circumstance.”

Police said Jarrell Jr. was arrested at the scene and has subsequently been charged with one count each of felony murder and malice murder, two counts of aggravated assault and four counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Authorities have confirmed that under Georgia’s “Seven Deadly Sins” law, Lairscy Jr. will face charges as an adult. This law permits the prosecution of juveniles as adults for specific violent offenses, such as murder and aggravated assault.

Speaking at the press conference Captain Hutchens said, according to Statesboro Herald: “We want to be very compassionate to this family. We want to extend our condolences to this family. It’s an unfortunate situation and circumstance, and we just want to extend out our prayers to them, as they have to deal with this situation, not only just to themselves, but also here during the holiday season.”

The GoFundMe page that was set up for Jarrell Sr. by a family friend to help with his medical bills revealed he works at a towing company and owns his own lawn care business. A description on the page, which has so far raised over $4,000, reads: “Jarrell Lariscy (Jay) has a very long road ahead of him. He is in Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound to the head. He is being monitored at memorial hospital at this time. He has also experienced the tragic loss of his 17-year-old son Johnny.

“Jarrell (Jay) is an upstanding guy and an important part of the Nevils Community. Over the weekend he unfortunately experienced an unimaginable tragedy. Jarrell (Jay) and his 17-year-old son Johnny were involved in a shooting that tragically took Johnnies life.”

The donation page also has a touching tribute to Johnny, who was described as a ‘typical southern teenager’. It goes on: “He loved to fish, hunt, and ride four wheelers. He was always willing to help anyone and everyone just like his dad. They were inseparable always doing things together all while a father taught his son the ins and outs of life. I can’t imagine what my friend is experiencing as I am a father myself, no father should ever have to bury his son. I pray for him and his family as they go through these difficult times in the coming weeks.”

Accused California Lego thief was ‘high’ on drugs during police pursuit that left one woman dead, police say

A California man who led police on a deadly high-speed chase after reportedly stealing legos from a local grocery store is facing decades in prison, officials announced Monday.

The incident unfolded at a local Albertsons in Fullerton when a plainclothes officer spotted the suspect, 43-year-old Anthony Michael Hanzal, putting Lego boxes in his bag and leaving without paying. The officer exited the store and began to follow the suspect in his car and radioed for a uniformed patrol car to respond, according to a news release from the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.

“When the uniformed police officer tried to pull the suspected thief over, he made a quick right turn on Brookhurst [Road] and sped off,” the release noted.

Hanzal, who authorities say was under the influence of drugs, then rear-ended a vehicle that was sitting at a stoplight at the intersection of Brookhurst Road and Orangethorpe Avenue before turning and getting on the westbound 91 freeway.

Authorities said he eventually got off at the Knotts Berry Farm, hitting speeds of up to 90 mph as officers continued to follow him through the city of La Palma. At the intersection of La Palma Avenue and Moody Street police say Hanzal ran a red light and slammed into a blue BMW, instantly killing the driver, Marianne Casey.

Another driver’s dash camera, as well as surveillance cameras in the area, captured the crash.

“Enough is enough. Actions have consequences and I am mad as hell that an elderly woman is dead because a drug-addicted repeat thief decided to steal Legos from a grocery store and then lead multiple police agencies on a high-speed chase through Orange County in the middle of the day,” said Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer. “Marianne Casey’s family should be planning their holiday celebrations and instead they are planning a funeral.”

Mean Girls star Lacey Chabert shares what daughter thinks of her Hallmark Christmas movies

The actress, who has been dubbed the Queen of Christmas movies, recently starred in her 40th Hallmark movie this DecemberA Christmas Quest. She also appeared in her first Netflix Christmas movie called Hot Frosty, which was released in November. Lacey dished to The Mirror recently why she gravitates towards festive films.

“I love the holiday so much. Some of my most cherished childhood memories are about Christmas and time that I spend with my family over Christmas. So the fact that I’ve had the chance to make so many movies about the holiday season just brings joy to my heart,” she said.

She also mentioned that her eight-year-old daughter, Julia, whom she shares with husband David Nehdar adores her movies, especially the Christmas ones. Lacey explained that Christmas is Julia’s “favorite time of year.” The Mean Girls alum continued, “And I’m happy that I’m able to make things that she can sit down and watch with us.”

Lacey brought her holiday cheer and essence to Raising Cane’s fifth annual bike giveaway on Tuesday, December 10. She partnered with the fast food eatery’s owner Todd Graves to gift about 100 bikes and helmets onsite to the Boys & Girls Club of Harlem members. Guests came to the fast casual restaurant chain’s Times Square winter wonderland set up across from their Global Flagship location. Raising Cane’s donated a total of 400 bikes and helmets to the Harlem program and will donate 2,500 bikes across nearly 25 cities.

In a sea of red and white from the Christmas decor such as trees, presents and candy canes to the bikes and helmets themselves (also bearing the Raising Cane’s logo), Lacey and Todd welcomed the children and gave speeches.

In their speeches, Todd spoke about his connection with the bike giveaway as he used to receive bikes as a kid on Christmas and would be so “excited.” With those memories, he “wanted to give back and spread that same joy to kids in need across the country” especially with his “purpose and privilege.”

The Louisiana native also said Lacey brought “joy” to his family and to others with her holiday films. He continued with, “She embodies the spirit of the season and I couldn’t think of anyone better to help us spread cheer through our bike giveaway.”

Lacey mentioned the importance of being apart of this event as it embodies the holiday season with the spirit of giving which brings her “joy” and “the feeling of togetherness.” She emphasized that giving makes people feel unified and it’s meaningful to spread the holiday cheer.

She elaborated that this is something she wants to teach her daughter and feels Todd reflects those values. Lacey confessed that the event was the first time the two met each other, calling him “kind.” The 42-year-old added that Todd’s work is “genuine” and said it’s “lovely” to be part of the Raising Cane’s family and appreciates what he’s doing with the bike event.

Lacey also detailed a bit of her Christmas traditions with her family during a brief Q&A which includes decorating, Elf on the Shelf and writing letters to Santa with her daughter.  Lacey and Tony additionally guided the children around the designated track once they gave them their new bikes and helmets.

The bike giveaway also had Santa in attendance, as well as carolers and hot chocolate at the event.

Other celebrities that were in attendance at the charitable festivities were RHONJ star Dolores Catania, Summer House’s Ciara Miller, RHONY alum Dorinda Medley, Summer House star Jesse Solomon, Peter “Pilot Pete” Weber  from The Bachelor, and Giants Wide Receiver Malik Nabers.

Home Alone star says ‘horrific’ line she had to say to Macaulay Culkin almost ‘killed’ her

Catherine O’Hara, the star of Home Alone and Schitt’s Creek, once confessed that she found it difficult to deliver a particular ‘horrific’ line to her on-screen son, Macaulay Culkin.

In the 1990 Christmas classic, O’Hara played Kate McCallister, mother to Culkin’s character, Kevin. The film, directed by Chris Columbus, sees Kevin accidentally left behind when his family jets off for their holiday festivities. Early in the movie, Kevin has a spat with his family just before they depart for Paris.

O’Hara admitted that delivering this line to Culkin was a struggle and it almost ‘killed her.’ At a ceremony last year where she unveiled her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, she recalled: “The scene where I had to drag him upstairs to sleep in the attic ’cause he’d misbehaved, he’s mouthing off about the family and I say, ‘Well, you’d be pretty sad if you woke up tomorrow morning and you had no family,’ and he says, ‘No, I wouldn’t.’”

“And I was supposed to say, ‘Then say it again – maybe it’ll happen.’ I can’t tell you how much that killed me – I could not wrap my head around saying something so horrific to this beautiful child. Of course, I was not yet a mother at the time and I had no idea the kind of things would come out of my own mouth with my own two sons.”

She continued to laud Macaulay, who was merely 10 years old when he starred in the hit film. Catherine expressed: “This beautiful 10 year old little boy was called a superstar, a moneymaker, one of the hottest leading young men in Hollywood by the world over. How does anyone survive that? I believe you’d have to possess a certain quality, a gift, that dear John Hughes obviously recognized in you Macaulay, your sense of humour.”

“It’s a sign of intelligence in a child and a key to surviving life at any age. From what I see, you have brought that sense of sweet yet twisted, yet totally relatable, sense of humor to everything you have chosen to do since Home Alone.”

  • P Diddy’s bleak Christmas Day in ‘hell hole’ jail from strict rule to ‘disgusting’ dinner

P Diddy’s bleak Christmas Day in ‘hell hole’ jail from strict rule to ‘disgusting’ dinner

Sean ‘P Diddy’ Combs may be used to celebrating Christmas in style – but this year, he’s spending it behind bars after being accused of a string of serious crimes.

The American rapper spent his 55th birthday and Thanksgiving in jail at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, where he is awaiting trial after being charged with sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, transportation and engaging in prostitution. Now, Combs – who has performed under the names Diddy, Puff Daddy and Love – will spend Christmas Day in a cell too.

The Bad Boy millionaire is expected to be locked up until his trial kicks off on May 5, 2025. Outside of the criminal charges he is facing, Combs has been sued by several people who have brought civil actions claiming he subjected them to physical or sexual abuse, including his former girlfriend, R&B singer Cassie. Combs has strongly denied all allegations.

This holiday season will take on a much grimmer tone for the rapper, offering little of the extravagant celebrations he is used to. Legal expert James Pipe, from freegrantsforfelons.org explains: “The stark contrast between Diddy’s past life of indulgence and his current circumstances highlights the profound consequences of legal and personal accountability.

“While the festive season might offer moments of muted cheer for some inmates, for Combs, it serves as a reminder of the seriousness of the allegations against him and the impact of his actions on others.” Mr Pipe says Christmas in the Brooklyn jail involves a regimented, modest routine, devoid of glamour or indulgence, providing limited holiday cheer.

He says meals and activities are ‘disgusting’ compared to the lavish celebrations Diddy is known for. The day may begin with a basic communal breakfast, possibly featuring a small festive gesture like hot chocolate or a pastry if the facility’s budget or donations allow. Christmas films or cards may be offered, though the sobre reality of incarceration is inescapable, he says.

Mr Pipe notes a ‘no frills, no luxury’ rule and says Christmas dinner in jail is modest at best. The menu may include a slightly enhanced meal compared to standard offerings but remains a far cry from the opulence Combs once enjoyed. He will eat in an environment defined by restrictions, the legal expert says.

According to sources who spoke to PEOPLE, who are reportedly inmates, Combs has been playing card games, shooting hoops and speaking with his family on weekday visits. One former inmate said: “He’s well-liked inside prison. People are getting along with him.” Another inmate said he’s likely to play basketball on Christmas Day because “he likes it”.

He’ll also have the option to play dominos, soccer and Spades card games, according to the publication. The US magazine said that Combs will likely be served Cornish hen, macaroni and cheese, cranberry sauce and rolls, and two peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for his Christmas dinner.

Combs was arrested in a Manhattan hotel in October, six months after federal authorities raided his homes in Los Angeles and Miami. The grand jury indictment documents seen by The Mirror detail allegations dating to 2008 that he abused, coerced and threatened women “to fulfil his sexual desires, protect his reputation, and conceal his conduct”.

He is accused of enticing female victims and male sex workers into drugged-up, sometimes days-long sexual performances dubbed “freak offs”. Texas lawyer Tony Buzbee has also stepped forward to declare he is representing 120 new alleged victims who intend to bring civil claims – the youngest were nine, 14 and 15 when the alleged abuse happened.

Combs’ lawyer previously told the Mirror: “As Mr. Combs’ legal team has emphasised, he cannot address every meritless allegation in what has become a reckless media circus. That said, Mr Combs emphatically and categorically denies as false and defamatory any claim that he sexually abused anyone, including minors. He looks forward to proving his innocence and vindicating himself in court, where the truth will be established based on evidence, not speculation.”

Scarlet and Tayo first met when they were teenagers in Melbourne but they soon became ‘family’ when their parents started dating. It wasn’t long before Scarlet and Tayo soon fell in love and got married on a gorgeous Greek island last year. Back in September, the couple shared a throwback video from their holiday as they announced the pregnancy.

“Baby Ricci. Our Christmas Miracle,” they said. In the video, they added a ‘one year later’ over the video of them in Greece as the video cut to them at home checking the pregnancy test, which said ‘positive’. Scarlet immediately gasped and covered her mouth as Tayo looked at the camera in shock.

They also shared clips from their many hospital visits. Scarlet was best known for her role as Mishti Sharma on Neighbours but she soon left her acting career behind for a life in the USA with her husband. The star also created an OnlyFans account where she creates content with Tayo.

On the Uncensored Podcast, Scarlet said she made her money by sharing snaps with Tayo on the adult online subscription service. She said: “I’m in the 0.01%, like the lowest you can go on OF. But every month’s been getting better. ‘Like last month was my best month. I hit almost $200k and then this month I’m going to do well over $200k. Coronation Street Gail star Helen Worth’s heartbreak as husband’s affair left her ‘drowning’

Actress Helen Worth – aka Coronation Street’s one and only Gail Platt – will be leaving Coronation Street this Christmas Day after more than 50 years worth of drama, family strife and, of course, plenty of disastrous marriages.

And away from Weatherfield, Helen, 73, has also found herself unlucky in love on occasion, with her first husband’s affair leaving her feeling as though she was “drowning”.

Helen’s most famous character is, of course, set to wed for a seventh time this festive season, this time to former child entertainer Jesse Chadwick (John Thomson). However, with her family harbouring some serious doubts about her latest romance, it’s unlikely we’re in for a harmonious wedding reception.

For Helen, much like Gail herself, heartache is sadly no stranger. She had once believed she’d be with her ex-husband Michael Angelis for the rest of their lives, only for his shock secret affair to explode all that she’d hoped for…

In 1991, Morecambe-born Helen married her long-term love, Michael Angelis, best known as the former narrator of the classic children’s TV series Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends. The couple had been smitten since the mid-70s and were all smiles on their wedding day, but sadly, their marital bliss was short-lived.

Just four years after the confetti was thrown, Michael admitted he’d had an affair, feeling he had no choice but to be honest after learning a newspaper would be running a story about his infidelity. Opening up about this dark time during a 2001 interview with the Mirror, Helen admitted: “Nothing can ever prepare you for the day your husband sits you down and tells you he is having an affair.

“My marriage was everything to me. It was the foundation on which everything else was built. I had been with Michael for nearly half of my life. I never imagined that we wouldn’t grow old together. When he told me, everything just went black. Things started to make sense. Maybe I realised right away that something like that had been bound to happen. Things hadn’t been right for some time, but – naively maybe – I didn’t think it was serious.”

She continued: “The pictures were about to be published and he knew he had to tell me fast,” she continued. “He just said he was having an affair. I went through every emotion. I was hurt. Then angry. So angry. I tried to tell myself it wasn’t happening.

“The worst thing was that I knew it was going to be in the papers the next day. To know that the rest of the world had to know about my pain was just unbearable.”

Although they initially tried to mend their broken relationship, it became apparent the damage had been done, leading to many heartfelt discussions about where exactly they’d gone wrong. Helen, now 73, said: “I can’t describe how hard it was,” she recalls. “Everything was slipping away and I couldn’t do anything to stop it. I’d be up in Manchester, just trying to get on with the job and telling myself everything would be OK. But maybe I knew, deep down, that it was never going to be OK again.”

They eventually called it a day in 2001 when more photos emerged of Michael with his mistress, the Welsh model Jennifer Khalastchi, who he went on to marry. Expressing that she felt as though she was “drowning” and being “dragged down” as their relationship imploded, Helen used work as a coping mechanism. She admitted: “I was afraid to let go. I just couldn’t imagine a world that didn’t have Michael in it. But in the end, I didn’t have a choice. I had to accept it. It was either accept it, or go under, and I was never going to do that. I’m a survivor. I’d just never been put to the test until then.”

That’s not how it was, things are never that easy. He just met someone who made him happier than I could. It wasn’t a crime. It was just desperately sad.

“I know now that Michael suffered as much as I did. He still loved me when he left. It tore him apart that he was hurting me. He would never willingly have caused me pain. He is the gentlest man I know.” Helen and Michael remained friends after their divorce, and would regularly have lunch together until his death in 2020.

After remaining single for some years, Helen found love again with Trevor Dawson, a deputy headmaster, seven years her junior. The pair met at a friend’s 90th birthday bash, and say it was ‘love at first sight’. Speaking with the Mirror in 2016, smitten Trevor confirmed he was a Corrie fan, sharing: “We watch the show together. I had always been a fan going back some years. I used to watch it with my mum. Of course, Gail was my favourite.”

After keeping their blossoming romance under wraps for more than a year, Helen and Trevor said ‘I do’ at St James’s Church in London in 2012, surrounded by many fellow Coronation Street stars. As they left the ceremony, the newlyweds were also greeted by nearly 200 cheering well-wishers, all of whom were happy to see Helen loved up once more.

Thanking her guests at the time, Helen said: “It’s been the most fantastic day, it has exceeded all expectations. We are thrilled that so many of our friends and family could be here to celebrate with us.” Years later, it would appear Helen is still besotted by her second hubby. During an appearance on This Morning back in 2021, she gushed: “I met Trevor about 10 years ago, and I just thank my lucky stars really. He’s just gorgeous.”

.On her decision to leave Weatherfield behind, Helen previously said: “This year felt like the perfect time to leave the show after celebrating 50 years in the most wonderful job on the most wonderful street in the world.

Superfan who ate Pot Noodles every day for 12 years transforms home into ‘Pot Noodle paradise’ for Christmas

A 56-year-old Pot Noodle addict has taken his love to festive heights. He’s decorated his home for Christmas with more than just tinsel and baubles – it’s adorned with his favourite Pot Noodle memorabilia, having wolfed down over 4,700 pots and collected £4,000 worth of related items.

Dean Pugh, a dad-of-three from Pershore, Worcestershire, has converted his living room into a Pot Noodle paradise, replete with a themed Christmas tree twinkling with special crackers, rare discontinued flavours, and an angel not typically seen on nativity scenes – the 90s mascot Ned The Noodle.

Unlike others who might dine on turkey and trimmings, Dean will be indulging in a ‘Christmas Dinner’ flavour Pot Noodle on the big day and is eagerly awaiting a hamper full of them as a gift. His lounge isn’t just festive; it’s a shrine to the snack complete with vending machines, retro advertising and a Chicken Korma pot signed by Caprice from the 90s.

And to those who default to the same decorations yearly, he suggests, “People always have the same old decorations up each year so I thought I’d do something a bit different. I think it looks fantastic but the wife thinks I’m nuts. She’s just learnt to tolerate it but my daughter loves it.

“The angel on top is a Pot Noodle mascot which you had to send tokens off for years ago. He’s called Ned the Noodle and they fetch about £60 on eBay. I’ll be having Pot Noodle Christmas Dinner flavour on Christmas Day, although it went out of date in 2011 so I hope it doesn’t make me ill.

“The family know to get me a Pot Noodle hamper – what else would the Pot Noodle King have for Christmas? ” “There’s two lads in Worcester collecting Pot Noodles to help feed the homeless this Christmas and I’ll be donating to them so its all about good causes too.”

Plasterer Dean, who lives with wife Louise, 50, first became hooked on the snacks about 30 years ago at work and would have one or two a week. He soon started taking them out on his regular metal detecting tips where his pals started calling him ‘Mr Noodle’ or ‘Noodle King’.

The name has stuck ever since – and he began eating them every day about 11 years ago. Dean says he loves the classic Chicken and Mushroom flavour but his favourite is the Bombay Bad Boy.

He also scours the web for unopened pots of discontinued flavours, like Mac and Cheese, Spicy Curry and Brazilian barbecue Steak and buys them on eBay. Dean also forked out £500 for a vending machine previously from a race course which dispenses his favourite snack and also plays music.

He once consumed a Beef and Tomato pot that was 14 years past its sell-by date to raise funds for charity. He said: “I just like Pot Noodles because they are a quick, easy, tasty snack. But now that’s all I’m known for.”

“I don’t mind though, it’s a fun thing to be known for and cheers people up. People contact me from all over the world saying how brilliant it is. I get sent Pot Noodle memorabilia in the post, I had some Pot Noodle earrings the other day. It started as a habit which grew into a massive hobby and now I’m always on the lookout for new additions to my collection, I look online constantly for items.”

Just days ago, Kate appeared to unveil a tattoo tribute to Liam, which featured a pair of angel wings. She has made references to angels since his death, like mentioning the number 444, which is described as the “angel number”.

Kate paid tribute to Liam just days after his death in October. She wrote at the time: “Thank you for all of the kind words and love that has been sent my way. I have been at a complete loss. Nothing about the past few days have felt real. I ask and pray that you’ll give me the grace and space to navigate this in private. Liam, my angel. You are everything. I want you to know I loved you unconditionally and completely. I will continue to love you for the rest of my life. I love you Liam.”

She later told fans that Liam had planned to propose to her within the next year. As previously reported, she wrote in a post on social media: “Your energy was contagious, lighting up every room you walked into. […] You had the kindest soul and the most fun-loving spirit. It feels like I’ve lost the best part of myself. I can’t imagine a day without your laughter and love. You brought so much light into my life.”

Kate added: “A few weeks ago, we sat outside on a beautiful evening manifesting our lives together. I keep your note close, even though you told me not to look at it. It said ‘Me and Kate to marry within a year/engaged & together forever 444.’ Liam, I know we’ll be together forever, but not in the way we had planned. You’ll always be with me. I’ve gained a guardian angel.”

  • Mary Berry’s secret Brussels sprouts weapon – and it makes them absolutely delicious

Mary Berry’s secret Brussels sprouts weapon – and it makes them absolutely delicious

Then, if you want to take your Brussels to an even higher level, you can add pancetta or bacon, as well as chestnuts, for the delicious dish that will have your Christmas dinner guests clamouring for more. To make the recipe – which is featured on Mary Berry’s Absolute Christmas Favourites and is available on the BBC website – you will need 900g of sprouts, 50g of butter, and salt and pepper. For the elevated recipe, you’ll then need 200g of pancetta or bacon, 225g of frozen chestnuts which have been defrosted and halved, and one onion.

    Method

Remove the outer leaves from the sprouts, trim the base of each one and cut in half from top to bottom, through the root. Cook the prepared sprouts in boiling salted water for 3-4 minutes, or until nearly tender. Drain and refresh in a bowl of cold water to retain their bright-green colour.

Heat half of the butter in a large frying pan over medium heat. When the butter is foaming, add the pancetta and fry for 3-4 minutes, or until crisp. Remove from the pan using a slotted spoon and set aside to drain on kitchen paper.

Heat the remaining butter in the same pan. Add the onion and chestnuts and fry for 8-10 minutes, or until the onion has softened. Stir in the cooked pancetta.

Drain the sprouts well, then stir them into the pancetta, chestnut and onion mixture. Season, to taste, with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Serve piping hot alongside roast turkey with all the trimmings.

The recipe might sound complicated, but Mary said you can save yourself some time by frying the pancetta and chestnuts in advance before adding the fresh Brussels sprouts. Mary added: “Ensure that the sprouts are at room temperature when you add them to the pan – if they are added straight from the fridge, they take too long to heat through. This dish is best eaten freshly cooked, but leftovers can be stored in the fridge for one day.”
