  • Mike Tyson was ‘karate master’ who used a ‘peekaboo’ style of boxing to become the sport’s most feared fighter

Mike Tyson was ‘karate master’ who used a ‘peekaboo’ style of boxing to become the sport’s most feared fighter

MIKE TYSON was a ‘karate master’ who used a ‘peekaboo’ style of boxing, according to expert Jesse Enkamp.

Iron Mike dominated the heavyweight division during the 1980s and 90s.

Winning his first world title aged just 20, Tyson bamboozled opponents for over a decade, and was known for his ferocious power.

But according to popular karate expert and YouTuber Jesse Enkamp, Iron Mike was also a master of of the martial art.

Enkamp said on his YouTube channel: “To be honest, old school boxing looks very similar to traditional karate, because both are done without any protection (bare-knuckles), and you don’t really use any rules.”

He also added: “As I like to say, don’t be a martial artist… be a ‘smartial’ artist.

“Mike Tyson is a karate master.”

Enkamp enlisted the help of boxing trainer Jay Elder to help his theory.

But Elder didn’t necessarily agree with all of his suggestions.

He said: “That means Tyson’s got to be quicker than the other person because he’s further away (from them), but he’s rolling off his shoulders and his hips to throw.

    “It’s a lot more square.

“He’s incredibly fast, and if you watch he’s just bobbing, rolling and throwing. I’ve never seen that in karate.”

With Enkamp repeatedly needing to be told to keep his head down, Elder adds: “That’s a karate habit, because you want to keep your head back. So the chin is a little bit up.

“That’s a huge difference between karate and boxing.”

He then explains: “Because you kick in karate, you have to have a more upright body.

“You need the space to kick.

“Whereas boxing, I’m not going to throw my legs.

“It’s different. In boxing, you’ve got to almost sit.”

Logan Paul insists he could ‘easily’ beat Mike Tyson after surviving eight round with Mayweather

‘You can’t tell me I can’t beat Mike Tyson’: Logan Paul eyes up ANOTHER American boxing icon after surviving eight round exhibition with Floyd Mayweather… and YouTuber claims Iron Mike’s age, 54, gives him the advantage.

Logan Paul has hinted that Mike Tyson could be his next boxing target after the YouTuber survived eight rounds with Floyd Mayweather.

The streaming star, who had only fought once before the fight with the American boxing icon, was not put down by Mayweather during their exhibition bout on June 6 in a surprise outcome for the 26-year-old.

Paul is now likely to continue his boxing career and claims age would be on his side if he took on Iron Mike, who turns 55 at the end of this month.

The YouTuber told his Impaulsive podcast: ‘Someone mentioned Mike Tyson. My lawyer mentioned it and he’s like, “Nah, Tyson will rip your head off, you don’t stand a chance.”

I’m like, “I just went through all this.” You can’t tell me I can’t beat Mike Tyson. He’s old, old.’

Tyson, like Mayweather, recently returned to the ring for a post-retirement exhibition fight with Roy Jones Jr, with the November 2020 fight ending in a draw.

Mayweather, who retired from boxing in 2017 with a perfect 50-0 record, was surprisingly unable to stop Paul at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

The YouTuber was criticised for hugging onto Mayweather too much during the exhibition fight, which generated more than one million pay-per-view purchases which rivalled Canelo Alvarez’s 2018 rematch with Gennady Golovkin.

Paul’s only other career fight was a 2019 loss to fellow YouTuber KSI from Great Britain, with the British streaming star winning via a split decision in Los Angeles.

Mayweather was also condemned for both his decision to take the fight on and his performance on the night, with Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn questioning whether the ‘Money’s’ performance is good for the sport.

Speaking on the DAZN Boxing Show, Hearn said: ‘This never felt comfortable for me, the person this looked worse on than anybody, and he probably doesn’t care, is Floyd Mayweather.

He looked quite terrible. If you’re a young fan, you see Floyd Mayweather last night you go, “He was the best ever?”

‘I know that Logan Paul was hugging around, but I don’t know, I always said from the outside it was a bad look for the sport.’

Jake Paul offers three-word response to Mike Tyson, 57, after the former heavyweight champion claimed he ‘doesn’t need to be 100 per cent’ to beat the YouTuber turned boxer after health scare on flight

Jake Paul has offered a three-word response to Mike Tyson’s health scare ahead of their fight in July.

Less than two months before his Netflix bout against Paul, 27, Tyson, 57, became nauseous and dizzy due to an ulcer flare up while making his way from Miami to Los Angeles, his representatives confirmed on Monday.

The boxing legend’s state forced flight staff to ask passengers if there was a doctor on board to provide assistance, before paramedics boarded the plane once it touched down in LA to provide treatment.

While he is already said to be ‘doing great’ in recovery, Tyson’s health scare has reignited fears over his safety heading into the July 20 contest with Paul, who is 30 years his junior.

After the scare, Tyson said that he ‘doesn’t need’ to be at 100 per cent to beat Paul, with the social media star now replying on Instagram.

‘Hey that’s mean!’ Paul, who is a heavy favourite to win the fight on July 20 in Texas.

‘Thankfully Mr. Tyson is doing great,’ the former heavyweight champions’ representatives told the New York Post on the back of the incident.

‘He became nauseous and dizzy due to an ulcer flare up 30 minutes before landing. He is appreciative to the medical staff that were there to help him.’

The incident was the latest of a number of health concerns, which have included the veteran claiming he once broke his back, being spotted in a wheelchair, and suggesting he will die soon.

Many are once again calling for ‘Iron Mike’ to be pulled out of the fight following his flight ordeal at the weekend, but Paul insists it is still going ahead as planned.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer hit out at reports on Tyson’s situation and wrote: ‘You love to make s**t up before knowing the facts for clicks / likes. Nothing changed #PaulTyson.’

Typical symptoms of an ulcer flare up include nausea and vomiting, bloating, belching and gas pain, as well as chest pain and fatigue.

Tyson will be 58 on July 20, when the fight against Paul is set for AT&T Stadium – the home of the Dallas Cowboys.

The fight has been marred by criticism in recent weeks, particularly at the vast age gap between the two fighters.

UFC Hall of Famer says Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson ‘should not be going ahead’ after latest medical scare

UFC Hall of Famer Michael Bisping insists that the upcoming fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul should not go ahead after the boxing legend suffered a medical scare earlier this week.

On May 26, the 57-year-old suffered an ulcer flare-up during a flight from Miami to Los Angeles and required medical assistance after feeling ‘nauseous and dizzy 30 minutes before landing.’

Reacting to the health scare and the fight on his YouTube channel, Bisping noted that the phrase ‘there is no such thing as bad press’ does not apply to this buildup.

‘Mike Tyson was involved in a medical emergency, paramedics had to be rushed onto the plane, the doctors had to come on to take Mike Tyson off the plane: It’s not a good look,’ Bisping said.

‘This is not good press when you are trying to promote a fight when you are 58 years old.’

Paul and Tyson will meet in the ring on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The event will be the first boxing match to air live on Netflix as the streaming platform continues to grow its sports library.

After Tyson’s health scare led to speculations of the fight’s cancellation, Paul responded online and said ‘nothing [has] changed.’

While noting his respect for the combat sports icon, the former UFC middleweight champion was critical of the fight playing on despite the massive mismatch coming from their 30-year age gap.

‘I respect him – this is taking massive balls to go in there against Jake Paul,’ Bisping said. ‘Now listen, maybe it was an ulcer flare-up, I don’t know anything about ulcers, but what I do know is that the man is going to be 58 years old – a man in the prime of his life doesn’t have a problem sitting on a plane for a few hours.’

The Count emphasized how the circumstances present a bad look for boxing and Paul, saying: ‘This is just a great example of why a fight like this should not be going ahead.’

Mike Tyson says Jake Paul has to ‘fight like his life depends on it’

While in his prime, Tyson was one of the best boxers to grace the ring. Iron Mike amassed a 50-6 record with 44 knockouts. After losing his last two professional fights, Tyson called it a career in 2005. He then returned to action in an exhibition against fellow legend Roy Jones Jr. in 2020 but has not competed since.

On the other hand, Paul holds a 9-1 record from mostly fighting YouTubers and professional fighters way past their primes. Paul holds wins over Tyson Woodley, Ben Askren, Nate Diaz, and Anderson Silva. His only loss came when he fought Tommy Fury in 2023.

Jake Paul has sent out a clarification about his upcoming fight against Mike Tyson. Paul is set to lock horns against Tyson inside the squared circle in July this year.

The highly anticipated fight will end at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Earlier, it was suggested that this would be an exhibition contest. However, it was later revealed that this will be a pro-fight with slightly different rules.

Ever since the announcement, Jake Paul has been criticized for fighting a 57-year-old retired fighter. However, it looks like he wasn’t the one who asked for it to be a pro fight.

In a recent episode of his podcast, he said:

“They’re just going to say he’s old and you disrespected him and all that sh*t, but I just want to make it clear. Mike Tyson was the one who wanted it to be a pro-fight. Mike got into training camp and called up people on my team and were like ‘Let’s do a pro fight, is Jake down?’”

Heavyweight Mike Tyson drastically altered his nutrition in preparation for his professional boxing battle against Jake Paul in July.  In preparation for the fight, which is scheduled to happen in Texas in July, Tyson has started eating raw meat.

The social media sensation Paul will face the heavyweight icon Tyson in a contentious boxing match, officially confirmed as a professional fight last week in Texas in July. Eight two-minute rounds will be fought amongst the adversaries in the ring, with the winner determined by their records.

Paul will be almost thirty years younger than Tyson, fighting at fifty-eight. It has been over two decades since Tyson’s last professional appearance and four years since his last bout.

How Will Raw Meat Help Mike Tyson Win Against Jake Paul?

Mike Tyson, the great heavyweight boxer, gave some insight into his unusual preparations before his fight against Jake Paul on July 20. In an interview with the Damon Elliott Show, Tyson,57, claimed that consuming raw meat had helped him stay in excellent form for the fight.

This fight, scheduled for AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, between Tyson and the 27-year-old Paul, will be Tyson’s first official, non-exhibition boxing contest since 2005. The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations agreed to sanction the fight last month, changing the earlier belief that it would be an exhibition. The bout will broadcast live on Netflix.

Despite Paul’s thirty-year age difference, the former heavyweight champion of the WBA, WBC, IBF, and The Ring has more experience and accomplishments than Paul. Paul is also a rising fighter, having amassed a 9-1 career record that includes six knockout wins.

Boxing legend Mike Tyson will fight Jake Paul later this year, and tickets are already selling for insane prices.

The former undisputed world heavyweight champion, now 57, will square off against the much younger Paul at Cowboys Stadium on July 21, with Netflix to stream the event live.

While tickets haven’t officially gone on sale, listings have been posted on reselling sites such as StubHub, Vivid Seat, and the Gametime app.

The Gametime app has the lowest-selling tickets listed at $575, which includes taxes and fees. Ring-side seats are currently going for $8,067 per.

Meanwhile, a representative for StubHub has explained why tickets are being listed on reselling apps before officially going on sale, pointing out that there are folks who are involved with the event who have received tickets and might not be able to use them.

“You may see a ticket listed on StubHub before an event’s pre-sale or on-sale date,” the rep said, per USA Today. “This is because tickets are distributed across venues, sponsors, key players and individuals involved with the event, who know they have tickets and can’t always use them.

Mike Tyson suffered a medical scare during a flight this weekend, and his fight with Jake Paul is thought to be in doubt.

The former World Champion was flying from Miami to Los Angeles on Saturday when he began feeling sick. An ulcer flare-up had him in so much pain, the airline staff had to call for any medical professionals on the flight to help.

According to InTouch, paramedics boarded the plane when it landed at LAX and treated Tyson on the spot.

“He became nauseous and dizzy due to an ulcer flare-up 30 minutes before landing,” one of his reps told TMZ Sports. “He is appreciative to the medical staff that were there to help him.”

However, Paul has rubbished the claims.

The influencer said people “love to make S- up,” as he assured fans that “nothing changed.”

Meanwhile, Tyson’s rep says the boxer is doing great now.

Most of the passengers on the flight did not know he was the one who suffered the medical emergency and were only told that someone was in distress.

It’s understood there was a two-hour delay ahead of takeoff that had nothing to do with the 57-year-old. According to his rep, a mechanical issue was responsible.

Passengers had to wait around 25 minutes to get off the plane due to the paramedics checking on him.

Mike Tyson will come out of retirement to face Jake Paul in a professional boxing match, and the former heavyweight champion had a big say in the fight rules.

Boxing enthusiasts were shocked when Mike Tyson announced his return to the ring to face Jake Paul, and many of them initially believed it would be an exhibition match. However, it’s now set as a professional fight, with Tyson insisting on “everything to be on the line” – and the elder fighter had a pivotal role in determining the rules of the bout.

Come July 20, either Tyson will notch another victory on his storied record, or Paul will boast a win over ‘Iron Mike’ in a sanctioned match. The decision to go pro adds an extra layer of excitement for fans, a move that Tyson was adamant about.

At their inaugural press conference in New York City, Paul disclosed that Tyson’s camp demanded a professional fight shortly after the ink dried on their contracts. “Weeks after the contract was signed we got a call from Mike’s team and they were like ‘Hey, he wants it to be a pro fight for sure. He wants to put it all on the line,’” Paul recounted on Monday. “So I respect Mike for that, and if he wanted that, I said ‘Let’s run it.’”

The official fight rules dictate a heavyweight clash with knockouts permitted, yet the rounds are limited to eight two-minute intervals. This specific format was championed by the 57-year-old and greenlit by Paul for its potential to ramp up the excitement.

    Mike Tyson is feeling

Fans have voiced concerns over Tyson’s stamina, given his seniority, despite his remarkable fitness. The abbreviated rounds are designed to foster a more dynamic and energy-packed spectacle, a move that Netflix is likely to appreciate.

When questioned at the press conference about any stipulations he insisted on regarding the rules, Tyson disclosed: “Shorter rounds because I wanted more action. We only have two minutes with the fight going.” Paul later commented: “It’s gonna be a firefight, more punches, it’s going to be a sprint so it’s going to be more entertaining for the viewers.”

In a notable change from regular professional bouts, Tyson and Paul will wear 14-ounce gloves instead of standard 10-ounce gear. While knockouts are allowed, should the fight reach its end, the result will rest upon the judges’ scorecards.

Tyson rarely contended full-length matches throughout his professional career, garnering 44 of his 50 victorious encounters via knockout. As a tremendous powerhouse known for not holding back, Tyson doesn’t seem to have lost any vigor in the training videos he’s posted on social media.

With the implementation of two-minute rounds, Tyson can freely strike without long delays between rounds, potentially making the match more challenging for Paul.
