Sebastian Vettel caused ripples in the F1 world with the announcement of his exit from Red Bull in 2015. After winning four world championships with the Austrian team, the German joined the team he loved since childhood. That team was Ferrari, the side he saw his idol, Michael Schumacher, win five world championships with.

Unfortunately, the move did not work out as well as it did for Kaiser. Vettel drove for Ferrari for six seasons and finished runner-up in the standings twice during that stint.

During his time with the Prancing Horse, he partnered up with a young Charles Leclerc for two seasons. The duo often had on-track skirmishes, but there was no love lost off it. While preparing to bid adieu to Ferrari at the end of 2021, Vettel shared some heartwarming words for his young teammate.

Speaking with the media at the end of the 2020 Abu Dhabi GP (in a throwback video posted by @leclercstreet on X), Vettel said, “I think I will miss him (Leclerc). Obviously, he was giving me a headache here and there. We are in very different stages of our lives and careers. But he’s a good kid and I think he will go a long way. He will be the man of the future, so I hope that he gets the car that he deserves.”

The camaraderie between the two hit a low during the 2019 Brazilian GP. Fighting for P4 with five laps to go, Leclerc’s front right clipped Vettel’s rear left, resulting in a puncture for both. The double DNF cost Ferrari dearly, but the duo learned a lesson and moved on.

Sebastian Vettel’s special parting gift for Charles Leclerc

The 2020 season finale in Abu Dhabi was an emotional affair for the Ferrari duo. To express his reverence for his teammate, Charles Leclerc sported “Danke Seb” on his helmet for the race. Meanwhile, Sebastian Vettel had a special gift to return the favor in his own right.

Vettel gifted Leclerc one of his lids with a message (as quoted by Formula 1) that read, “To Charles, you are the most talented driver I came across in 15 years of F1. Don’t waste it. But be sure whatever you do to be happy and smile. Thanks for everything!”

The Monegasque later shared pictures of them swapping helmets. In the captions, Leclerc thanked Vettel for teaching him the tricks of the trade and pushing him to be a better driver.

Vettel then joined Aston Martin and raced for them for two years before retiring from Formula 1 at the end of 2022. Leclerc, meanwhile, remains at Ferrari and is still striving to win his first world championship.

TYSON FURY has hit back at Eddie Hearn’s claim that Anthony Joshua is the world’s best heavyweight – and vowed to make the fight happen.

Fury was ringside in Saudi Arabia to watch Joshua brutally knock out MMA superstar Francis Ngannou in two rounds.

It was in the same arena just five months earlier that he was floored by Ngannou and deemed fortunate to escape with a split-decision win.

So Hearn stated AJ’s stunning stoppage punched him to the top of the heavyweight division.

But Fury – who faces the man who twice beat Joshua in Oleksandr Usyk – was quick to shut down the promoter.

He said on BBC: “Congratulations to Joshua, but listen we all know styles make fights and Eddie Hearn’s shouting he’s the best heavyweight in the world, we know he’s not.

“He’s already been beaten by Usyk twice and I’ve got to deal with that problem for him.

“So after I’ve done that – twice – and if he’s still available, we’ll get it on. Get it on like Donkey Kong!”

Fury was due to unify all four belts – for the first time in heavyweight history – on February 17 until he suffered a cut in sparring two weeks out.

The freak injury has instead backdated the historic title bout to May 18 and the WBC champion insisted the gash is healed up.

Fury said: “Can’t see it because it’s gone, the cut’s gone. So it is what it is. I’m ready to roll and roll. I’ll see you on May 18th.”

Joshua’s promoter Hearn has thrown his support Fury’s way so that the Battle of Britain can finally commence.
Fans spot Tyson Fury’s ‘terrified’ reaction immediately after Anthony Joshua’s explosive KO of Francis Ngannou
He said: “You are looking at the baddest man on the planet. The No 1 heavyweight in the world.

“There’s a brilliant fighter down there in Tyson Fury. Please beat Oleksandr Usyk, because you will get the biggest fight of all time.”

The ferocious former “Baddest Man On The Planet”, who retired in 2005, has released his first clip of training footage, leading fans to fear he is in trouble.

In the blue corner will be internet star Jake Paul, 27, whose fighting career includes bouts with other YouTubers, and MMA fighters.

He was beaten last year by boxer and former Love Islander Tommy Fury, younger brother of reigning WBC champion Tyson.

The fight is expected to generate £234million but has been criticised by UFC president Dana White and fighter Conor McGregor.

The clash, which will be aired on Netflix in July, is being billed as a battle between boxing’s old guard and a new breed.

But the two boxers have more in common than you might think – as Grace Macaskill reveals.

TYSON was sentenced to three years in jail for the rape of Desiree Washington when she was 18.

TikToker Justine Paradise, 30, released a 20- minute YouTube video claiming he forced her to perform oral sex in his bedroom in July 2019.

She alleged they danced and kissed consensually at first but then he got physical with her.

Paul denied the allegation on Twitter, calling it “manufactured” and denied he ever had a sexual relationship with Justine.

Actress and model Railey Lollie came forward shortly after Justine’s allegations.

She accused Paul of groping her without consent in 2017, according to the New York Times.

The 24-year-old alleges that when she was 17, he would call her “jailbait”.

    COMEBACKS

THERE will be a lot at stake for both men when they square up.

Ageing Tyson is attempting to show the world he still has what it takes to win, while Paul wants to come back from his defeat to Tommy Fury in February 2023.

In 1986, age 20, Iron Mike became the youngest man ever to win a world heavyweight title — but his career spiralled out of control due to sex, drink and drugs.

He hasn’t boxed since an exhibition against Roy Jones Jr in November 2020, which ended in a draw, and his last professional bout was 15 years earlier when he was beaten by Kevin McBride.

Two years ago, Tyson was pictured using a walking stick, and this week he released a training video which one fan reckoned showed he had “weak jabs”.

When Paul took on Tommy Fury in Saudi Arabia it was one of the most anticipated-ever boxing contests between two novices.

Despite the former Love Island star being knocked down by the YouTuber in the eighth round, Tommy won on a split decision.

Paul later said: “Tommy didn’t win the fight — I lost it. I was not good, I was not on my A-game.

“I didn’t implement my game plan. My legs were weak going into the fight — but I don’t want to sit here and make excuses.”

    LOVE LIVES

FROM fake weddings to a wife who cheated with Brad Pitt, the course of true love hasn’t run smooth for either man.

Iron Mike has been married three times, while Paul has staged two marriage ceremonies for his 60million-plus social media followers.

Tyson’s first marriage, to actress Robin Givens in 1988, lasted just a year.

According to the heavyweight boxer, they quickly tied the knot when Givens told him she was pregnant.

He gave her and her mum £3million to buy a New Jersey estate and put £6.5million in her bank account.

But Tyson claims Robin told him she had miscarried shortly after the money was exchanged.

They filed for divorce but carried on seeing each other — until he walked in on her having sex with Brad Pitt.

Tyson later claimed Pitt begged him not to hit him.

He said: “You had to see the look on his face. He looked like he was ready to receive his last rites.”

Givens, who admits to dating Brad, says the story is untrue.

From 1997 to 2003, Tyson was married to paediatrician Monica Turner after meeting her at a party thrown by comedian Eddie Murphy.

She visited him in prison after he was convicted of raping 18-year-old Desiree Washington — and when he was released in 1992 the pair set up home in Maryland.

Turner filed for divorce in 2002, claiming adultery.

Tyson is currently married to Lakiha Spicer, 47, better known as Kiki, who met him aged 18 when they were introduced by boxing promoter Don King.

They started dating in the early noughties and married in 2009.

They exchanged vows in 2009, two weeks after the dad-of-seven’s daughter Exodus, four, choked to death in a freak accident.

Despite being obviously in love, Tyson recently admitted he has only been faithful to Kiki for the past two years of their marriage.

His wife has also had problems with the law.

You had to see the look on his [Brad Pitt’s] face. He looked like he was ready to receive his last rites

In 2008 she was given six months in federal jail for defrauding £60,000 from a company owned by her dad.

Paul faked his first wedding to fellow internet star Erika Costell in June 2017, before the pair released a song together.

Three months later he admitted the ceremony wasn’t real and they weren’t even dating.

But the next year their relationship went from staged to reality when they were filmed shopping and holding hands in his documentary The Secrets Of Jake Paul.

In 2019 Paul announced his engagement to YouTuber Tana Mongeau and they married a month later in Las Vegas.

Then they admitted that they weren’t officially married either and it was all a show.”

Paul and 28-year-old brother Logan have a fierce rivalry now the latter has also taken up boxing.

According to Jake, Logan slept with his ex-girlfriend Alissa Violet before the older sibling boasted on a music video: “She used to be your chick, now she’s on my team.”

Alissa and Paul met in 2017, when she was a singer in his manufactured band Team 10.

Both accused each other of cheating, while Alissa claimed Jake had physically and mentally abused her, which he denied.

In a now-deleted tweet, Jake accused Alissa of sleeping with Logan, writing: “Alissa f***ed my brother . . . that’s why I kicked her out. Oopsie — I just told them the truth.”

Logan then added fuel to the fire in a diss track called The Fall Of Jake Paul.

    DODGY PASTS

TYSON has had his fair share of drama in the ring — and outside it.

In his 2013 autobiography, Undisputed Truth, he admitted he was high on drugs during some of his fights.

He said he had taken cocaine and cannabis before a fight against Lou Savarese in Glasgow in 2000, but avoided being caught by using a “fake penis where you put in someone’s clean urine to pass your drug test.”

His lowest points came when he bit off part of opponent Evander Holyfield’s ear during a bout in 1997 and being knocked out by underdog Buster Douglas in 1990.

Tyson blew his £401million fortune on luxury cars — including a Cadillac and Lamborghini — £1.75million on a solid gold bathtub and paying a trainer £80,000 a year to look after his two pet Bengal tigers.

While Tyson can’t seem to leave his boxing career behind, Paul has also been desperate for the limelight.

Nicknamed “The Problem Child”, Paul was filmed rapping the N-word to a song in 2018.

Two years later he was allegedly seen with vandals and looters during the Arizona protests against George Floyd’s death at the hands of a cop in Minnesota, although he insists he was only there to film.

The FBI raided his home in California in 2020 in relation to the incident but no charges were brought.

My life was pretty much ruined. YouTube demonetised me, every brand dropped me

    Jake Paul
Paul, who is worth £31million, claimed Covid was a “hoax” and threw a huge party during the pandemic at his LA mansion.

His brother Logan, also a social media star, was forced to deny accusations he scammed fans with his cryptocurrency game project Cryptozoo.

Jake also got flak after Logan posted an insensitive video depicting the body of a man who had hanged himself in Japan’s Aokigahara “suicide” forest.

After advertisers wanted nothing to do with either brother due to the shocking footage, Jake revealed he thought about suicide.

He said: “My life was pretty much ruined. YouTube demonetised me, every brand dropped me.

“I’m sitting there at 21, I lost basically all my income because of something my brother did, I’m blacklisted.

“Everything in my life was falling apart. Dark thoughts come into your head of like, ‘I don’t wanna be here on earth any more’.”

Fury has a passion for fast cars with his collection including two Rolls-Royces and a Ferrari GTC4Lusso worth around £250,000.

But he has always reminded fans that his easy-to-drive Passat is among the favourites on his driveway.

Later on in the day, Fury went food shopping with wife Paris and was on the bargain hunt.

Fury comes into it having been dropped by ex-UFC champion Francis Ngannou, 37, in October before winning a controversial split-decision.

He also walked away a winner at the bank after making around £39m for the crossover clash.

So the nature of the two performances and results leaves the MMA superstar siding with Joshua, 34, in the Battle of Britain.

Ngannou, 37, told iFL TV: “I don’t know, I would give it to AJ for right now.”

Fury, 35, returns on May 18 in an undisputed title showdown against Oleksandr Usyk, 37, in Saudi Arabia.

He said: “Fury must have just been having a really bad night – or, like I think, Fury’s past his best. He’s seen better days.

“I study the sport and I study the fights, and Tyson Fury used to throw 30-plus feints a round.

“Feint, feint. Draw his opponent in, feint. Double jab, right hand. He’s not doing the feints anymore. He’s doing four or five feints.

“He’s slow on his feet. He’s been knocked down five times [in recent years].

“When you’re hitting the floor and getting hit on the chin and not throwing feints and not as busy as you used to be, that means you’re past your best and you’re on the decline and you’re on the slide.”

“If he fights Usyk, he’ll get beat – unless I’m totally wrong and Fury’s just not taking the sport seriously.

“When I watched that Netflix series – he’s up and down mentally. If he takes it seriously and he fancies it and he’s happy and on a high, he trains properly.

“You might see the last, best Tyson Fury. He might get in there with Usyk and be too big for him and too quick, and beat him and dominate him, and then I hope he retires.

“But, one, I don’t think the fight will happen. Two, if it happens, I think – unless he rekindles the old flame – he’s going to get easily beat. I don’t think it’ll be a knockout or anything like that.

“I just think it’ll be a points job, or maybe a late stoppage, because Usyk is a lot smaller than him, and a bit lighter.

“But he’s growing into the weight now. But he’s an old man himself. He’s past his best.”

The two-bout series threatens to see Fury tied up for the whole year, KOing hopes for a Battle of Britain bout with AJ.

But Mauricio Sulaiman – president of the WBC in which Fury is champion – would give the go-ahead to face AJ after Usyk.

“The WBC accepted that sanctioning and we accepted the rematch they have requested.

“But, if it is not anything to do with contractual or promotion, we would absolutely accept the winner to fight Joshua.

“The WBC has been very much attentive to this matter. So we have completely freed the ground for the undisputed, for a rematch, and for another fight of that level.

“The WBC position right now is very open to support the undisputed champion taking on the fights that the fans want to see.”

He told BBC: “Congratulations to Joshua, but listen we all know styles make fights and Eddie Hearn’s shouting he’s the best heavyweight in the world, we know he’s not.

“He’s already been beaten by Usyk twice and I’ve got to deal with that problem for him.

“So after I’ve done that – twice – and if he’s still available, we’ll get it on. Get it on like Donkey Kong!”

ANTHONY JOSHUA is putting in the hard yards in the gym just four days after knocking out Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia.

The British star wants a speedy return to the ring after his stunning victory and is wasting no time preparing for it.

Joshua posted photos on Instagram showing him hitting an early morning workout with his strength & conditioning team in a Dubai gym.

The heavyweight performs lunges and flexes his physique at the end of the session.

While the 34-year-old has his eyes set on a fight with British champion Tyson Fury, Joshua will likely have to wait at least a year to get his hands on the “Gypsy King”.

Fury is contracted to an immediate rematch with Oleksandr Usyk after their bout scheduled for May 18.

Parker then beat Zhilei Zhang in his next fight and is now a possible option for AJ.

The two fought in 2018, with Joshua securing the victory on points.

Tyson Fury hits back at Eddie Hearn’s claims Anthony Joshua is best heavyweight in world and vows to make fight happen
Fury has been given the green light by the WBC to fight Joshua if he defeats Usyk.

Mauricio Sulaiman – president of the WBC, in which Fury is champion – would give the go-ahead to face AJ after Usyk.

Sulaiman told Sky Sports: “The WBC was presented a sanction request which was to fight for the undisputed.

Inside Kate Abdo’s glam life with boxer boyfriend Malik Scott – from chats with Cristiano Ronaldo to designer wardrobe

SHE once donned the uniform of a Greggs cashier, but these days you’re more likely to see Kate Abdo dripping from head to toe in Louis Vuitton.

Having shared TV screens with sports heavyweights like Cristiano Ronaldo and Tyson Fury, the Manchester-born presenter, 42, is at the top of her game after making her name on US television.

This week, the CBS Sports host won a new legion of fans for her “brilliant” response to Jamie Carragher’s cringe joke about her new boyfriend during a Champions League tie.

After Arsenal beat Porto on penalties on Tuesday, the Liverpool legend made a bizarre jibe about Kate’s ‘loyalty’ to boxing trainer Malik Scott, who she went ‘Instagram official’ with earlier this month.

The following night, the former Sky Sports host quipped that Jamie was the “annoying middle-child” of their punditry team – which also includes Thierry Henry and Micah Richards – adding that he has a “chip on his shoulder, capable of saying anything for attention”.

She finished: “But we all have that one annoying family member that we still love and accept.”

The strange episode came weeks after Kate finally confirmed her relationship with Malik, who has helped train superstar boxers including Deontay Wilder and Oleksandr Usyk.

Jamie and Micah left their pal blushing when they first teased out the secretive relationship live on air back in December.

In a sign of blunders to come, Carragher said, “You went to Alabama, how’d it go? What happened?”, before adding: “Are we going to meet Malik?”

Kate reportedly first laid eyes on Deontay Wilder’s trainer last summer following her split with Ratmin Abdo, who is said to be worth around £10million.

Both stars clearly share a love for fitness – regularly posting snaps online of their incredible physiques from intense workouts.

Before Malik threw in the towel to become Wilder’s coach in 2021, he had an impressive boxing career himself.

Micah Richards leaves Kate Abdo stunned after challenging Premier League cult hero to press-up challenge on live TV
The Philadelphia-born brawler held a 38-3 record as a heavyweight and even fought on major cards against Luis Ortiz and Dereck Chisora.

Since retiring in 2017, he has taken on prize fighters including Oleksandr Usyk – climbing the ranks as a highly-respected trainer.

Now worth an estimated £1.1million, Malik looks as though he has met his match with Kate, who herself is worth about £2million.

Aside from their soppy love posts on social media, the power couple have been seen getting hot and heavy in the ring.

Under Malik’s guidance, footage showed Kate throwing some bruising combinations at the premier Brickhouse Boxing Club in California.

    Sacked from Greggs

Glamorous Kate, who began her career at Sky Sports, is fluent in Spanish, French and German.

So it’s no surprise that she’s often seen jet-setting across the world, posting pictures on Instagram of her jaw-dropping trips to hotspots like Belize and Qatar.

After a stint at CNN, she left for Sky Sports Germany where she appeared on pay per view boxing events, European football coverage, transfer deadline day and Sky Sports News shows.

She worked in the US for Fox Sports, but it’s CBS Sports that turned her into a household name in the States.

Back in 2016, she landed a plum role as host of the Ballon d’Or ceremony and revealed what it was really like to interview the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

“Messi’s quite quiet, he’s quite reserved, he’s a little bit shy,” she said

“Whereas Ronaldo comes across as very confident, he’s very comfortable in front of the cameras and he’ll give you a little bit more back.”

Interviewing football’s biggest names couldn’t be further away from her first gig, working in a Greggs in Stretford.

She explained: “I wasn’t dripping in Louis Vuitton so much back then – it was my first job.”

The admission stunned Carragher, who was left even more surprised when he discovered Kate was sent her P45 by the fast food chain.

“I got fired,” she admitted. “I got my tongue pierced and I couldn’t speak to people properly.”

    ‘Best-dressed’

When it’s not Kate’s cheeky quips attracting attention, it’s often her flawless fashion sense.

She’s previously poked fun at her expensive spending habits when she joked about “dripping in Louis Vuitton”.

But it’s not the only designer brand she’s got a penchant for.

In an Instagram post last month while in Las Vegas, she shared snaps of her glamorous outfits alongside the caption: “Find me in your local Versace store” with several laughing emojis.

The Mancunian isn’t afraid to take fashion risks either. She was previously praised after presenting in a bold orange jumpsuit, a leather suit and an all-rounder wrap.

It led one fan to write: “Just looked up from my phone at this jumpsuit Kate Abdo is wearing. Top five best-dressed people on TV…”

Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk set for historic fight with new format as emergency petition is launched

TYSON FURY’S blockbuster showdown with Oleksandr Usyk will see a new undisputed heavyweight champion of the world crowned.

And it could also be the debut for a dramatic new format when the pair eventually go head to head.

That is because WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman wants there to be SIX judges for the fight – rather than the usual three.

And he has even launched an emergency petition to get the radical proposal passed through.

That includes Sulaiman contacting rival organisations the WBA, IBF and WBO, as well as the other parties involved in the fight, to get them on board.

Various big fights have been marred in controversy regarding judges’ scorecards – such as Fury’s win over Francis Ngannou and Josh Taylor’s controversial victory over Jack Catterall in 2022.

There was also major question marks over Rey Vargas retaining his featherweight belt against Nick Ball despite being knocked down twice.

And doubling the number of judges could help eradicate rogue scores wrecking decisions.

Sulaiman told Boxing Scene: “What we saw last week in Saudi Arabia was another example of how fragile officiating worldwide continues to be.

“We saw one judge have it one way big and another judge having the other guy winning.

“It has to be something we all agree on.”

Fury and Usyk are set to step into the ring at long last on May 18.

Their initial December 23 date was pushed back after Fury’s struggles against MMA legend Ngannou.

Then just two weeks before their rearranged February 17 meeting in Saudi, the Gypsy King suffered a nasty gash above his eye in sparring.

Now if either of the fighters pulls out of the new date, they will need to stump up nearly £8million to their rival.

The fight will be staged in Saudi Arabia and for the first time, Sky Sports, TNT Sports and DAZN all have the broadcast rights as they battle it out to top the pay-per-view figures.
