Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton have reasons to be unhappy about a rule that will be implemented at the upcoming Australian GP. The regulatory body has issued a list of things that won’t be allowed in Albert Park, the race’s venue. Among those items lie Hamilton and Alonso’s favorite mode of transport within the paddock.

On X, Austrian GP’s official account announced that eight items – alcohol, glass bottles, flares, camera lenses, drones, skateboards, weapons, and scooters – are prohibited items for this weekend’s race. While Alonso and Hamilton won’t care about seven items on the list, scooters not being allowed could be a bit of a challenge.

Both drivers are well known for using specialized scooters as their means of transportation. Hamilton, for example, has been using an electric scooter designed by Xiaomi back in 2019. He opted for this eco-friendly mode of travel to reduce the amount of carbon footprint he leaves behind, something he has been very vocal about over the last few years.
Hamilton fully embracing the scooter-life, has influenced not Alonso. Even younger drivers like George Russell and Charles Leclerc have gotten into the habit of using scooters as means of intra-paddock travel. Unfortunately, this is something that fans won’t be able to witness in Albert Park this weekend.
Fans react to Lewis Hamilton’s scooter ban
As always, fans on social media were quick to react to the scooter ban in Australia. Making hilarious jokes out the situation, here are some of the best reactions from fans on X (formerly Twitter).
Fans resorted to sarcasm to make light hearted jokes about Hamilton. Most of them were about Hamilton being dismayed about the ban.
However, F1 has banned scooters and bikes before. In 2023, Formula 1 Management sent a letter to the team owners, prohibiting anyone from using bikes and scooters. Drivers often took their scooters out to the tracks to take notes of the bumps and get a feel. This is something the authorities wanted to prevent.
After dominating the last two years in F1, many expect Red Bull to do the same this season as well. The team seem to have begun the campaign on the right track as they registered an emphatic 1-2 in the opening two races of the new season. Moreover, they also scored 87 points out of the 88 on offer so far. Despite such a fantastic display so far, Red Bull’s Chief Engineer Paul Monaghan has provided a pessimistic outlook for the team’s future. Monaghan suggested that 2024 could be the last year the Milton Keynes outfit dominates.
As quoted on X (formerly Twitter), Monaghan said, “If we choose to make more significant changes to the car, more options will open up for us. This is one of the reasons that pushed us to design the car with profound changes. It is probably the last big roll of the dice because, in 2025, we will have to look to 2026.”
The Briton went on to explain how easy it is to reach the “limits” of aerodynamic research, and from 2025 onwards the team could be on the verge of saturating how much faster they can make the current generation of cars. Monaghan also expressed his concerns over how the cost cap could influence the team’s gap to their rivals.
With a lot of money channeled into research and development, the RB20 could be the last car that the team would want to splash the cash on, given how significantly diminishing the returns would be on a “maxed-out” 2025 concept. However, since 2025 is still a season away, as things stand, Red Bull will most likely dominate the upcoming 22 races.
Which teams can dethrone Red Bull in 2025?
With the regulations now stable, the 2025 car would be an evolution of this year’s concepts across the grid. Hence, Red Bull would still hold an edge over their rivals, given how perfectly Adrian Newey seems to have nailed the design philosophy.
That being said, the fear of stagnation as explained by Paul Monaghan would give rivals like Ferrari and McLaren the impetus to close the gap. With Red Bull having seemingly exhausted their developmental route, the others could catch them realistically by the end of this season.
While Ferrari and McLaren seem like the most likely candidates to end Red Bull’s dominance, Mercedes have hit a dead-end with their design concept of the ground-effect cars. Hence, their only hope most likely would be that the 2026 engine-specific regulation reset helps them embark on a better streak of performance as they did back in 2014 when the turbo-hybrid era of the sport kicked off.
Melbourne commuters have noticed the very unusual way that Aussie McLaren star Oscar Piastri is promoting this week’s Australian F1 Grand Prix.
Melbourne local Piastri is returning for his second Aussie GP with McLaren and will be competing with his countryman Daniel Ricciardo for Australian bragging rights at Albert Park.
In the meantime, he seems to have lent his voice to Melbourne’s public transport system, with a video surfacing of the 22-year-old appearing to make a tram announcement.
The message gives commuters updates on the frequency of trams going to Southern Cross station, which is a public transport hub in Melbourne’s CBD.

Piastri is fast becoming a fan favourite in his home town of Melbourne after making his F1 debut for McLaren in 2023
Piastri and his girlfriend Lily Zneimer are pictured in Baku as he received the FIA Rookie of the Year trophy last December
Aussie F1 fans were left impressed after viewing the clip.
‘He should narrate Australian wildlife documentaries or something when he retires. He’d be like an Aussie Attenborough with those unintentional ASMR vibes,’ one posted, referring to the star’s voice triggering an autonomous sensory meridian response – a pleasant sensation associated with hearing a soothing voice.
‘Australian documentaries need more of a Russell Coight vibe, keep the [Americans] guessing as to whether any of it’s actually true,’ added another.
‘His general voice and calmness are perfect for these sorts of announcements actually,’ wrote a third.

After claiming his first F1 points in Melbourne last year, Piastri is hoping to go better this time around and push for a podium finish
Others have questioned why he would take up the extra gig in a busy lead-up to the Australian F1 Grand Prix.
‘I thought that he would be paid well enough not to need the side hustle,’ one fan posted.
‘It’s a side hustle but it’s also just doing something cool for his city,’ responded another.
‘Every athlete needs a fallback/retirement plan! I always knew Oscar had a good head on his shoulders, he’s just planning for the future,’ another fan wrote.
Piastri (pictured front battling Fernando Alonso during the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix) sits on 16 points after two races, with his best effort a fourth-placed finish in Jeddah
Piastri will be looking for a stronger showing than last year’s effort when he tackles the Albert Park circuit, starting with free practice this Friday.
Last year the McLaren drivers had one hand tied behind their backs due to their car’s lack of pace, and both Piastri and teammate Lando Norris were nowhere in the podium mix.
However, Piastri did earn his maiden F1 points in Melbourne last year and will be hoping to push for a possible podium finish this time around after collecting 16 points in the first two races of the season.
He finished eighth in Bahrain, but improved markedly to come fourth in Saudi Arabia, beating Norris, who was four places back.
JOHN FURY has not lacked ambition when calling out huge names in the boxing world to fight.
The boxing veteran is most well known for fathering and coaching superstar sons Tyson and Tommy.

John Fury has never been shy to call out big boxing namesCredit: PA
But he also had a 8-4-1 professional boxing record and claimed to have been a fierce bare-knuckle fighter on the hard road.
His passion for his boys has led John to row with famous faces from the boxing world and resulted in wild fight call outs.
As of yet, John is yet to actually follow up on any of these challenges but here SunSport runs down the best of the bunch.
Mike Tyson
John is admittedly an Iron Mike superfan and even named champion son Tyson after the heavyweight legend.
But it has not stopped John from wanting to fight his hero and recently laid out a challenge when Mike Tyson coached Francis Ngannou for his bout against the Gypsy King.
John said: “Here I am! Any man alive want to fight John Fury I’m here and ready to go, Mike Tyson what have you got to say to that my brother?”

Jake Paul
For two years YouTuber-turned boxer Paul terrorised John’s son Tommy about a fight and his reasons for twice pulling out.
So John lost it when the two came face to face in Dubai and roared: “Come in here! Forget my son! I’m the king of the bare knuckle man!”
Eventually, Tommy would go onto beat Paul via split-decision in February 2023 with the pair back in talks for a rematch.

Lennox Lewis/Evander Holyfield
John did not just draw the line with Tyson, he also opened the door to fighting his iconic rivals of the 1990s.
He said in 2020: “Now I’m fit, let’s talk about some proper fighting men that have had fighting experience.
“Lets go: Evander Holyfield, Lennox Lewis, Mike Tyson all of those men in their 50s, my age, let’s have a go.”

Eddie Hearn
Hearn has had a frosty relationship with the Fury family amid the long-standing rivalry with his star fighter Anthony Joshua.
John has lost his cool over the brash promoter several times and at one point called to face Hearn on Joshua’s undercard.
He told The Mirror in 2022: “I’ll fight Eddie Hearn on the undercard too for the AJ fight. I’ll do that for free! If they sign the contract, I’ll box Eddie Hearn on the undercard for free!”

David Haye
Haye famously pulled out of fighting Fury twice due to injury and the bad blood between the two has carried on even after his retirement.
The British legend had a brief comeback in 2021 for an exhibition and called out Fury afterwards – but John wanted to take the bout instead.
He told BT Sport: “I will fight David Haye, and tell him from me – I will fight him seven days a week and three times on a Sunday. You tell him.”
Carl Froch
Froch has been outspoken since his 2014 retirement and recently questioned Fury’s boxing career.
It sparked a furious reaction from John, who said: “You and me, Wembley Stadium, 93,000 crowd. I’m up for that my friend.”
Froch hit back to instead suggest they settle the score in the name of charity.

Joe Egan
Egan is a former sparring partner of Mike Tyson’s and took acceptation to John’s challenge and suggested they fight instead.
John finally responded in a lengthy Instagram message and demanded a full fight offer be sent over in writing.
He warned in his rant: “Now it’s personal, Joe.”

Micky Theo
After John claimed to be the fittest man at his age alive, he was called out by former bodybuilder Theo.
And despite Theo’s best efforts to organise a fight, John refused to entertain it as an event but did claim he’d be up for a straightener.
He said: “I’ve seen people like you all my life. I’m in shape, I’m ready to fight, cut the s***e, let’s just fight.”

Froch is not a fan of ‘The Problem Child’s’ fight with Tyson.
HIGHLIGHTS
Froch has called out ‘The Problem Child’ for disrespecting 57-year-old Tyson.
‘The Cobra’ mocked Paul’s boxing ability and branded him a ‘performing clown’.
The 46-year-old Brit hinted at coming out of retirement to fight Paul.
Former four-time world champion Carl Froch has ripped into Jake Paul ahead of the controversial clash with Mike Tyson – branding the social media superstar as ‘a bully’ for taking the fight. ‘The Cobra’ has long been vocal about his dislike of Paul and couldn’t hide his disgust when talking about the 27-year-old on the most recent edition of his YouTube show, Froch on Fighting.
Tyson will be 58 years old when he steps into the ring on July 20th at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, meaning there will be an age gap of more than three decades between the two participants as the opening bell rings. Several notable names from the world of combat sports have expressed their concern about ‘Iron Mike’ lacing up the gloves again just two years shy of his 60th birthday. Froch echoed those sentiments, before verbally destroying Paul in an X-rated tirade.
Froch Destroys Jake Paul Over Tyson Fight
Brit ‘disgusted’ by upcoming bout
“I stumbled across the news that Jake Paul is fighting the legend, the icon, Mike Tyson. What is going on? This can’t be happening you can’t put a guy in his mid-twenties up against someone who’s nearly 60 years old – and Mike Tyson’s had some wear and tear in his career. Tyson’s an icon and Jake Paul’s not even a pro boxer. When I heard this fight was happening I was absolutely disgusted.”
The 46-year-old Brit took aim at the viral sensation for accepting the fight in the first place, arguing that it ‘wouldn’t prove anything’ if ‘The Problem Child added Tyson to his slate of six career knockouts, given that the former six-time world heavyweight champion is well past his prime.
“This is basically a young kid being a bully. What exactly does Jake Paul feel he’s getting out of fighting Mike Tyson? What’ does he think he’s achieving by fighting a guy who’s nearly 60 years old. He [Tyson] is well past his best. He peaked in the early 1990’s. If Jake Paul wins, he’s beaten an old man and people will say: ‘Well, what have you proved there?’ If he loses, he’s lost to an old man – and there’s still a chance. It’s ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson and he still has got a punch. Your punch power is the last thing to go.”
Despite his fears for Tyson, the outspoken Nottingham man was sure to remind his viewers how little he thinks of Paul’s general boxing ability. Froch criticised the ex-Disney channel star before his bout with Tommy Fury last February – and his dislike for the American only grew after Paul suffered his first professional defeat at the hands of the former Love Island contestant.
Paul ‘should be ashamed’ – Froch
‘Cobra’ wants to fight ‘Problem Child’
“Jake Paul, you are an absolute b****,” continued the pundit in his verbal assassination of the 10-fight novice. “I’ve seen you fight. I’ve watched you lose against Fury. What a crap fight that was. I have never seen anything so crap in my life.” Froch even insisted Paul should be ‘ashamed’ of himself for agreeing to the Tyson fight.
“Why are you still lacing up your boots and calling yourself a professional boxer? You’re a performing clown. You’re a f****** embarrassment and should be ashamed of yourself.”
Froch, who retired from the ring after his 2014 knockout victory over George Groves at Wembley Stadium, then confirmed he would be willing to end his retirement to fight Paul and drive him out of the sport.
“You won’t fight me, will you? You haven’t got the b*******. You’re just a f****** bully! It’s p***ing me off because Mike Tyson is such a legend in the boxing world and you are going to disrespect him. And you are disrespecting yourself as well actually. You are an embarrassment.”
Strong words from Froch and a fight between himself and Paul could well materialise in the future. At 46, the former super-middleweight king is still a year younger than UFC Hall of Famer Anderson Silva was when he fought the American in a boxing match in October 2022 – and a massive 12 years younger than Tyson will be when he steps into the ring in July. It remains to be seen how a fight between Froch and Paul would play out, but the war of words beforehand would no doubt be entertaining all on its own.
There are more than 30 Land Rovers and Range Rovers going under the gavel at Classic Car Auctions in the U.K. next weekend, but one is a real knockout of a ride.
The 1994 Range Rover Vogue LSE in question is a bonkers limousine conversion with ties to legendary boxer Mike Tyson. The stretched SUV, which was originally commissioned by the Sultan of Brunei, was reportedly used to chauffeur the former heavyweight champ around Glasgow in 2000. (Tyson famously defeated Lou Savarese in less than a minute at Scotland’s Hampden Park that year.)

The modification cost a staggering $171,600 (£135,000) to complete, according to the auction house. Townley Cross Country Vehicles worked on the vehicle for nine months, extending the chassis and body by 40 inches and raising the roof by eight. The team also installed a laminated sunroof, darkened the windows, added a one-piece opening tailgate, and finished the exterior in Rolls-Royce Mason Black paint.

The interior was given a makeover, too. The cabin features Oxblood Connolly leather, Wilton carpeting, and Burr Walnut trim. It is also equipped with three plush captain chairs, an electric center division with a glass panel, and an entertainment system comprising two TV monitors, a CD player, and a VHS player. Under the hood lies a 4.3-liter V-8 capable of producing 200 hp and 251 ft lbs of torque.
Classic Car Auctions expects the Vogue will hammer down for between $38,100 and $50,800 (£30,000 and £40,000) at the upcoming sale. The vehicle most recently sold for $40,000 (£31,500) at an Iconic Auctioneers sale in November.

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia – Like a lot of people in the fight game and peripheral to it, Dewey Cooper wound up with two key words when he heard Mike Tyson was going to box Jake Paul.
“Mixed emotions.”
On one hand, hearing “Iron” Mike is going to fight again brings up plenty of emotions, given he’s an all-time heavyweight boxing great. But on the other, this isn’t the Tyson from his championship days. It’s not even the Tyson from his cameo in “The Hangover,” which was 15 years ago – more than a full career ago for most combat sports athletes.
The Tyson of 2024 will be 58 when he fights Paul, who will be about 30 years his junior.
“Mixed emotions,” Cooper told MMA Junkie while in Saudi Arabia to work with Francis Ngannou this past week, and Tyson worked with Ngannou for his boxing debut. “I brought guys for Jake Paul to spar when he was getting ready for Nate Robertson and Ben Askren. I’ve seen him in the gym a lot. I used to be BJ Flores’ coach, his coach at those times. So I was in the gym with him a lot. By the way, real cool guy. Nothing like the people probably would think.
“I’ve been knowing Mike Tyson since the ’90s. Mike’s an awesome guy, an incredible guy. He’s helped our team. It’s a sensitive situation for me.”
Cooper said Tyson’s age has just about everything to do with his take, even if he understands the financial stakes for everyone are too good to pass up.
“At 58, the way Mike looks on the pads and everything, he can still do it,” Cooper said. “Just, will he be dedicated to training a real camp? And will he take Jake Paul seriously? Does Jake Paul have enough to motivate Mike Tyson, is the biggest question in my mind. If he does, it’s a serious fight for Jake Paul. If he doesn’t, then Jake Paul has an opportunity to beat an iconic legend.
“I would rather Jake Paul fight some young boxers – have a rematch with Tommy Fury, something like that, vs. Mike Tyson. But I understand that it’s going to be (big) box office and people are going to be excited about it. I just hope both fighters are okay. That’s a high number in age to be fighting young guys. But if the world wants this, wants to see it, and both men are willing, let’s do it. We’ll see what happens there.”
When it was announced earlier this month that Jake Paul would face off in an exhibition fight against Mike Tyson, the general reception was that the YouTuber-turned-pro boxer was essentially signing his death warrant. And after Tyson shared video of the start of his training this week, it seems unlikely that any minds will be changed.
Indeed, it seems like Iron Mike has still very much got it, as evidenced by the video of the 57-year-old sparring with his trainer, which he posted to social media on Wednesday. “It’s day 1, the fun just begun,” Tyson says at the end of the video, in which he demonstrated his lightning-fast moves.
In all fairness to Paul, the 27-year-old has earned himself an impressive 9–1 boxing record in the four years since making his professional boxing debut in early 2020, with six knockouts. And not to mention, the former heavyweight champion has also got nearly three decades on Paul, who will be 28 at the time of the fight.
Yet Tyson is still widely regarded as one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time, having reigned as the undisputed world heavyweight champion from 1987 to 1990. As such, the reaction to Tyson’s video hasn’t been much different from when the fight was initially announced, with many users resorting to simply posting reaction GIFs and memes to indicate how doomed Paul is going to be.
The Ballislife Bets X account even used a GIF of Paul against him, to demonstrate what the influencer must be thinking having watched the video.
For better or worse, the highly-anticipated fight between Tyson and Paul will take place on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX, and stream exclusively on Netflix.
Footage of Mike Tyson looking ferocious in training has done the rounds recently, but UFC legend Chael Sonnen has his doubts.
HIGHLIGHTS
Mike Tyson will fight Jake Paul, 31 years his junior, later this year, sparking debates on the safety and legitimacy of the event.
Chael Sonnen, meanwhile, has accused Tyson of faking recent training videos, while discussing his disapproval of the fight.
Jake Paul has already had to refute suggestions that the fight would involve headguards.
The highly-anticipated fight between former heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson and former YouTuber Jake Paul is just over three months away, with those within the boxing world already having their say ahead of the bout.
Tyson will be 58 by the time the fight comes around, meaning that he will be taking on someone 31 years younger than him, an age gap that many believe is enough for the event to not go ahead. American promoter and former UFC fighter Chael Sonnen is one of those in this camp and has even accused Tyson of faking his training videos as he prepares for the clash.
Sonnen Accuses Mike Tyson of Faking Videos
Sonnen hinted that Tyson had only been hitting the pads for a few seconds in the recent footage, where he did actually look very powerful and ferocious, and took a jibe at him, telling ‘Iron Mike’ to splash himself with water next time to make it look like sweat.
You still wanna f*** with me?#PaulTyson pic.twitter.com/CqdKF4zFBJ — Mike Tyson (@MikeTyson) March 16, 2024
He said: “In the future, if you’re ever going to spend five seconds hitting mitts, as a way of making the audience believe you’re doing a training session, make sure you splash water on your face and T-shirt first.”
Criticism of Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson
The dramatic age difference has been heavily criticised online, with Paul’s choice of opponent yet again being questioned, while medical professionals are even warning Tyson that it is incredibly dangerous for his health.
GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic : Mike Tyson is 11/8 to beat Jake Paul.
Tyson’s arch-rival Evander Holyfield accepted a similar offer back in 2021, with first-time boxer Vitor Belfort winning via a first-round knockout in an exhibition match.
Speaking on Patrick Bet David’s podcast, Sonnen referenced that fight, saying: “Vitor Belfort, who has never boxed, put him away so fast. Vitor, who has never done it [boxing], put him away so fast that it ended Vitor’s boxing career. They would not book him again. They labelled him like an elderly abuser. Paul will get teased for taking this Tyson fight.”
Although there has not been any official confirmation yet regarding the rules, The Problem Child reacted angrily on social media when it was mentioned that the two would wear headguards for the fight, something that he wanted to quickly rubbish in order to save face and save credibility surrounding the fight.
Taking to social media to respond, Paul angrily said: “Just a quick message to the people who are complaining about the rules of me vs Mike Tyson. Some TikTok user made a video making up all these fake rules like me and Logan tag teaming him, us wearing headgear, all of this is b*******.
