UFC icon Michael Bisping slams ‘laughing stock’ Jake Paul and reveals ‘big issue’ he has with ‘Problem Child’

Bisping has slammed Jake Paul for his decision to fight Mike Tyson.

UFC legend Michael Bisping has laid into Jake Paul after the announcement of his fight with Mike Tyson.

On Thursday the news broke that boxing icon Mike Tyson will make a sensational return to the ring to fight YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul.

The former world heavyweight champion will face Paul on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

At 57 years old, Tyson is 30 years older than his opponent, and hasn’t fought since he faced Roy Jones Jr in an exhibition in 2020.

The fight will likely earn each fighter hundreds of millions of dollars.

Since the announcement of the fight Paul has come under heavy criticism for facing an opponent so much older than himself.

One of the most vocal critics has been UFC icon Michael Bisping, who labelled Paul a “laughing stock” for his decision to fight Tyson.

“Money makes the world go round, but Jake Paul has already made lots of money,” Bisping said in a video uploaded to his YouTube channel.

“He’s made lots of money and he talks about being a real fighter – that’s where I have an issue.

“He talks about being one of the best ever, being the greatest, the champion of the world. He’s a laughing stock.

“Eddie Hearn called him out on that back in the day, said ‘I’ll give you one of my guys who’s up and coming’, but he didn’t want to do it, didn’t want to fight him, didn’t want to test himself. [He’s] looking for people he knows he can beat.”

Bisping’s initial reaction to the fight came on X, where he posted a series of tweets criticising Paul.

“Nah fair play to Tyson, hope he makes a s*** loads of dough. But what self respecting fighter seeks out a contest with a 57 year old legend when they are in their absolute prime? Make money fair play but stop with the ‘legit boxer’ talk,” he tweeted.

Paul recently improved his professional boxing record to 9-1 when he secured a first-round knockout against professional boxer and Golden Glove winner Ryan Bourland.

The fight will be streamed exclusively on Netflix, the platform’s first live combat sports broadcast.

  • Drake places massive bet on Anthony Joshua vs Francis Ngannou result as fans fear ‘curse’ will strike again

Drake places massive bet on Anthony Joshua vs Francis Ngannou result as fans fear ‘curse’ will strike again

Drake has placed a massive bet on Anthony Joshua and Francis Ngannou’s fight.

Drake has placed a massive bet on Anthony Joshua and Francis Ngannou’s bout.

On Friday, former two-time unified heavyweight champion Joshua will take on ex-UFC heavyweight champion Ngannou in an eagerly anticipated bout in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Joshua claimed three wins in as many fights in 2023, as he looks to chart his way back to boxing’s summit.

Meanwhile, Ngannou has only featured in one professional boxing bout, controversially falling to a decision loss against Tyson Fury in October, despite dropping the linear and WBC champion.

Despite his inexperience, Drake has tipped Ngannou to go one better against Joshua and defeat the Briton.

The God’s Plan artist has placed some $615,000 (£479,481) on Ngannou to beat Joshua.

Should Drake’s bet come to fruition he could receive a payout of $1,906,000 (£1,486,003).

Joshua vs Ngannou: What is “Drake’s curse”?

There is a popular belief on the internet that most of the athletes Drake puts his money on lose.

The most recent victim of the “Drake Curse” was middleweight champion Sean Strickland, after the Grammy-award winning musician posted an image on social media showing a massive bet in Strickland’s favour. Strickland went on to lose his middleweight title to Dricus du Plessis.

Elsewhere, Israel Adesanya was stunned by Sean Strickland when he was defeated by unanimous decision in UFC 293. The loss came after Drake put a $500,000 (£389,840) bet that Adesanya would beat Strickland by knock out.

Drake also placed a hefty $1.2million (£940,000) bet on YouTuber Jake Paul to win by knockout against his opponent Tommy Fury only for the latter to emerge as the winner by a split decision.

Despite the supposed curse against Drake, Ngannou admitted he is feeling confident ahead of his second boxing bout.

“I’ve learnt a little bit from the last fight, the last camp, and leading up to this one,” he told Ariel Helwani. “So, I get a little bit of experience, but the mindset is still the same.

“This is just the second boxing match, even though I’m taking on the two best guys in the world and it’s still my second fight.”

On Friday, former two-time unified champion Joshua takes on ex-UFC heavyweight champion Ngannou in an eagerly anticipated boxing bout in Saudi Arabia.

Joshua enters the contest having secured three wins from as many fights in 2023, with the Briton plotting a return to the summit of heavyweight boxing.

Meanwhile, Ngannou only made his boxing debut in October, losing a controversial points decision to Tyson Fury despite flooring the linear and WBC heavyweight champion.

Joshua and Ngannou’s fight will be streamed live on DAZN in the UK, US and across the world, with Sky Sports also airing the action in the UK.

New DAZN viewers can purchase the fight card and a month’s free subscription for £19.99, while existing subscribers can buy the event for £18.99. Moreover, Sky has priced the event at £19.95.

A spokesperson for FACT UK said: “FACT constantly monitors the digital landscape to combat illegal streaming activities in the UK and Ireland. We utilise a range of methods to identify individuals engaged in unauthorised businesses that offer access to illegal streams.

“One of these methods is through our partnership with Crimestoppers to make it as easy as possible to report illegal streaming, and over the past year, we have seen a significant increase in the number of reports directly linked to Fire Sticks and illegal streaming.”

Lewis Hamilton says driving for Ferrari will be a ‘childhood dream’ come true

LONDON (AP) — Driving for Ferrari next year will be a dream come true for Lewis Hamilton but the seven-time Formula One champion remains “100% committed” to Mercedes until then, he wrote Saturday.

The upcoming F1 season will be Hamilton’s last with Mercedes before he joins Ferrari in 2025 in a move that shocked the auto racing world. He said he’s been filled with “a whole range of emotions” this week.

“I feel incredibly fortunate, after achieving things with Mercedes that I could only have dreamed of as a kid, that I now have the chance to fulfill another childhood dream. Driving in Ferrari red,” Hamilton wrote on Instagram.

Writing that “the time is right to make a change and take on a new challenge,” the 39-year-old Hamilton likened the move to joining Mercedes from McLaren 11 years ago. Until then, Mercedes had been struggling to keep up with F1’s top teams.

“I still remember the feeling of taking a leap of faith into the unknown when I first joined Mercedes in 2013,” he wrote. “I know some people didn’t understand it at the time but I was right to make the move then and it’s the feeling I have again now. I’m excited to see what I can bring to this new opportunity and what we can do together.”

Hamilton won six of his seven titles with Mercedes, most recently in 2020 before he was beaten in controversial circumstances by Max Verstappen of Red Bull at the season finale in Abu Dhabi in 2021. He has not added to his tally of 103 career F1 Grand Prix wins since then.

Hamilton paid tribute to Mercedes, team principal Toto Wolff and Niki Lauda, who as non-executive chairman of Mercedes was an influential figure before his death in 2019.

“I am more driven than ever, I am fitter and more focused than than ever and I want to help Mercedes win once again,” he added. “I am 100% committed to the job I need to do and determined to end my partnership with the team on a high.”

Tyson Fury admits to using illegal move in Francis Ngannou fight that caused scorecard ‘error’ controversy

Tyson Fury has finally admitted to using an illegal move in his win over Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia.

Tyson Fury has finally admitted to using an illegal move in his controversial fight with Francis Ngannou in October.

Fury beat Ngannou in the former UFC heavyweight champion’s professional debut but it was far from a convincing display from the Gypsy King.

The WBC world heavyweight champion was knocked down in the third round after a deadly left hook and suffered a cut to the head in the bout.

Many disagreed with the judges’ scorecards which gave the fight to Fury, particularly given he got away with an illegal blow.

It happened in the sixth round, with Fury catching Ngannou with an elbow strike akin to a maneuver displayed in the Octagon.

Ngannou is now embarking on a second bout inside the squared circle against Anthony Joshua.

Fury is in Riyadh for the encounter and on Wednesday, finally admitted that he did use the elbow.

“I hear a lot of this coward talk from the two-time heavyweight champion of the world,” Fury said.

“There was 10 knockdowns in them Wilder trilogies, I went to Germany to fight Klitschko and the US to fight Wilder.

“Where’s all this coward s*** come from? Who am I a coward from? I don’t get it.

“The one thing I can gauge is I hit him [Ngannou] with some flush punches in the face, quite a lot, and even an elbow right in the face.

“He never went over, so regardless of my performance and his performance, I know he’s a tough son of a gun.

“I couldn’t really tell if he was good or bad because I wasn’t having a good performance.”

Ngannou will again take part in a ten rounder, having requested to do so.

He was told to have the usual 12, three minute rounders but knocked it back due to still only being new to the spot.

UFC star Ian Garry’s wife, 40, debunks ‘the top three lies’ about her MMA fighter husband, 26, after rivals ripped into their relationship… as she takes aim at ‘bull**** title holder Sean Strickland’ in fiery video response

Ian Garry’s wife, Layla Anna-Lee, has hit back at ‘the top three lies’ that involve her husband, in the wake of Colby Covington‘s call-out to the Irish UFC star.

Earlier this week, Covington shared a video onto his social media accounts where he called out Garry and also targeted his wife, Layla.

He called Garry a ‘translucent cuck’ before going on to list a number of stipulations that must be met in order for the Irishman to earn a fight with Covington.

One of those stipulations included a message from Layla. He said: ‘Layla, you got 60 seconds to convince me and and the people why this fight needs to happen. So put your husband in the corner, get on your hands and knees, and beg’.

His verbal tirade comes after months of focus on Garry and his wife – after online users brought up ‘How to Be a WAG’ in the latter end of 2023.

Garry and his wife, Layla, have been the centre of debate in the MMA world in recent months

Many suggested that Anna-Lee’s ‘book’ was essentially a guide for gold diggers and also pointed out the fact that the 40-year-old is 14 years Garry’s senior.

The couple also came under scrutiny after fans discovered that Layla’s ex-husband, Richard Cullen, works as Garry’s nutritionist and rumours suggested he lived with them.

While Garry issued his own response to the American’s call-out and other rumours, Layla has now debunked a number of the ‘lies’ circulating the MMA community.

In a video on Instagram, she said: ‘Shall we do this? The top three lies you believed about Ian Machado Garry. There are obviously many, many more I’d argue over 99% of what you read is a lie, but we’re gonna stick with three today, and these are important.

‘This tsunami of aggression towards the undefeated welterweight all exploded when former middleweight title holder and current multiple world bull*** titleholder Sean Strickland read a clickbait headline, but didn’t bother to fact check or read the whole article.

‘So let’s begin with lie number one. Ian took his wife’s ex husband’s surname. I can’t believe anyone would accept this to be true, but the MMA community picked it up and ran a full marathon with it.

‘In fact, some people are still running with it now gripping on with sweaty trembling fingers in order to justify blatant trolling. It’s not true. It never was true. Machado is my maiden name.

‘We added our names together when we got married. It’s not that big a deal. Now that you know that it was a lie, you can kick yourself for believing it. Preferably in the face’.

She then continued to address the suggestions – which she labelled as ‘bull*** – that Cullen still lived with Garry and his wife.

‘Lie Number two, his wife’s ex lives with them. No, no, he does not. He never has done. Yeah, I wouldn’t want to know this lie was born out of the mouth of an MMA YouTuber desperate for clicks.

‘When researching all the bull**** online it was very clear to me why people are making so much of this content. You see the numbers spiked sharply anytime anyone’s talking about Ian and his family.

‘You see, if you have no morals, no creativity, and you need to hit the numbers online, then the numbers are often worth a lie’.

Garry’s wife then moved on to the third and final ‘lie’ that had been circulating social media and one that had been put forward by UFC star Sean Strickland.

Back in December, Strickland took to social media to label Garry as a ‘cuck’ and a ‘a dumbass f***ing kid’ – but Anna-Lee has now hit back.

She said: ‘Lie Number three, Ian is a cuck. Step up Sean Strickland, a man who is unlikely to be au fait with the Shakespearean English he unwittingly used when calling Ian a cuck.

‘First penned in the story of Othello the word cuckold refers to the fear of a man who has been betrayed by his wife, Sean Strickland has been talking an awful lot about Ian Garry’s wife.

‘I’ve been called a sexual predator, a pedophile an abuser all by the man who allegedly suffered that exact abuse as a child growing up.

‘In the Shakespearean classic Iago tells Othello about Desmonda’s adultery and he blindly believes the rumors. It’s serendipity and not merely coincidental that Iago was lying. There was no truth to the story at all.

‘Othello – like the crowd at UFC 298 – was cruelly misled by Iago’s jealousy and insecurities. Othello was never the cuckold.

  • Tyson Fury: Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson ‘a really good spectacle for boxing’

Tyson Fury: Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson ‘a really good spectacle for boxing’

Contrary to most, Tyson Fury likes the matchup between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul.

Boxing legend Tyson (50-6) will be 58 when he faces 27-year-old YouTuber-turned-pro boxer Paul (9-1) on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The event will stream live on Netflix.

WBC heavyweight champion Fury thinks a fight like this will only help bring more eyes to the sport.

“I think it’s fantastic for boxing,” Fury said on The Stomping Ground. “You’ve got a legend in Mike Tyson, you’ve got a YouTube boxer who’s come into the game and blew it up, and he’s got millions of followers and millions of views and millions of eyes – good, bad or indifferent. Some people love him, some people hate him.

“I think it’s a really good spectacle for boxing – brings a lot of people to the game. Listen, who am I to say, ‘Oh, Mike Tyson shouldn’t be boxing,’ or ‘Jake Paul shouldn’t be boxing’? Good luck to them. They’re both going to make what I call a sh*t-ton of money out of it.”

The age difference has caused outrage from many notable names in combat sports. Tyson hasn’t competed since battling Roy Jones Jr. to a draw in their exhibition boxing match in November 2020 – his first fight in 15 years. Despite Paul being the younger and far more active fighter, Fury says we can’t forget Tyson’s accolades.

“It’d be fantastic for the guys, both getting paid, both going to put on a show – I just don’t know what’s not to like,” Fury said. “Oh, OK, (Tyson’s) 57 years old, but he’s a former undisputed world heavyweight king. And (Paul) plays computers for a living, and he’s come to boxing about a year ago, so pretty even match. … People say, ‘Oh, it’s sh*t,’ this, that and the other. But I’ll bet they still watch it. Who’s not intrigued?”
