Jake Paul's 'next opponent' issues challenge after Mike Tyson fight

Jake Paul has been challenged to a bare-knuckle fight if he beats Mike Tyson in July.

YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul is set to take on former unified heavyweight champion Tyson on July 20 at the AT&T arena in Texas, in a fight that will be streamed on Netflix.

The bout has been the source of much controversy, with the 27-year-old Paul, who has just ten professional fights in his career, some 30 years younger than Tyson.

But despite the age gap, Tyson, who was the first heavyweight to simultaneously hold the WBA, WBC and IBF titles, is many people’s favourite for the bout.

Nevertheless, bare-knuckle boxing champion Mike Perry, who has previously fought the likes of Michael ‘Venom’ Page and ex-UFC champion Eddie Alvarez, has challenged Paul to a fight should he defy the odds and defeat Tyson.

Perry is allegedly eager to take on Paul and introduce him to the world of BKFC.

Speaking to TMZ, Perry said: “Jake Paul, man. If he hurts Mike Tyson, bro, let me get that.

“He’s not doing bareknuckle, but I wouldn’t put it past Jake Paul because he’s been doing stuff that people would say he’s afraid of and things like that.

“That’s partly what drew me to bare-knuckle was that so many were worried about it or afraid of it.”

He added: “I’m like, ‘It seems real to me.’ So Jake, man, definitely issuing you a challenge. If you get through Mike Tyson, test yourself for real and let’s have a street fight.

“F*** Jake, he’s got some [talent], but I’d like to say I’m beating him as fast as he’s beating these taxi drivers, especially bare-knuckle.

‘I’ll hurt him and he’ll cry and run away and cower in the corner in the foetal position.”

Perry trained with Paul before his fight against Ben Askren, while last year he looked all set to take on the YouTuber’s brother Logan.

The pair even had a face-off, only for Logan to opt to fight Dillon Danis instead.

Mike Tyson didn't hesitate when naming which boxing legend he wanted to face the most from any era

Mike Tyson didn’t hesitate when he was asked to name his dream opponent from any era as he named a boxing legend.

Tyson took on all comers during his legendary professional career, fighting some of the biggest names of his generation.

He faced Evander Holyfield in back-to-back fights and had memorable showdowns against the likes of Larry Holmes, Michael Spinks and Lennox Lewis.

The 57-year-old, who fought fellow boxing icon Roy Jones Jr in an exhibition back in November 2020, makes his return to the ring on July 20 when he takes on Jake Paul.

During an interview with Steve Farhood on ShoBox, ‘Iron’ Mike was asked to name his dream opponent from any era to which he immediately opted for Floyd Mayweather.

Farhood laughed and said he ‘loved’ the answer before the former world heavyweight champion dug deep into why a fight with Mayweather would’ve been interesting.

“Well, I would love to have fought him. I wish he was my weight,” he explained. “We can never fight, of course, because of the weight difference, but I wouldn’t fight him the way they fought him.”

Mayweather walked away from the sport undefeated, recording a stunning 50-0 professional record.

But Tyson believes he’d have known exactly how to deal with Mayweather. He added: “I would be mean, I would be dirty. Because you’d have to do everything to fight him because he’s just so good.

“You can’t… it’s almost impossible to fight him clean. It’s just so hard to beat him.

“I don’t care. It’s really hard to beat him. The style he deploys – it’s really difficult to beat him in that particular style.

“I don’t care. Love him or hate him, he’s a hard man to beat. I would fight a guy like Floyd differently if he was a heavyweight.”

Jake Paul slammed for 'disrespectful' dig at Mike Tyson as Tyson Fury told to 'look in the mirror'

Carl Froch has slammed both Jake Paul and Tyson Fury following comments made in the build-up to Paul’s controversial fight with Mike Tyson.

The fight is scheduled for the 20th of July at the AT&T stadium, with Netflix making its first foray into live combat sports by exclusively streaming the event.

Many have been quick to criticise the boat, with UFC boss Dana White quick to call out the 31-age difference between the two fighters.

Another who has made his feelings on the fight very clear is former professional boxer Carl Froch. With a highly commendable professional record of 33 wins and 2 losses, Foch retired from the sport in 2015 but still makes his voice heard in the boxing world.

In a recent interview with Instant Casinos, Froch called out Tyson Fury for his defense of Paul with Fury having stated influencer boxing is a good thing for the sport.

“No, it’s not good for boxing. For Tyson Fury to say that it’s good for boxing…he needs to look in the mirror, have a look at what he’s done, have a look at what professional fighters do and what they go through, and then think to himself, this is Jake Paul, a performing clown jumping in there with a 57-year-old man, who is a legend and an icon in professional boxing,” Froch explained.

The 46-year-old continued to pull no punches and admitted he would love to see Tyson knock the YouTuber out.

“He’s an absolute f**king idiot for fighting Mike Tyson. It’s wrong. It should be stopped. Listen, I hope Tyson goes in there for 30 seconds, unleashes hell on Jake Paul, flattens him, and does boxing proud. Jake Paul’s been dead disrespectful as well in his build-up,” Froch admitted.

Froch also personally called Paul out for a potential fight in the future.

“He’s been biting ears off and trying to mimic Mike Tyson and copy him. I just don’t find it funny. If he had any bollocks about him, he’d fight me, wouldn’t he? I’d love to punch his teeth down the back of his throat,” Froch firmly stated.

Tyson was involved in an awkward altercation.

Mike Tyson involved in awkward moment with security guard at Miami Open

Mike Tyson was spotted sharing an awkward moment with a security guard while attending the Miami Open.

Legendary boxer Mike Tyson was thrust back into the spotlight earlier this month with the announcement that he will return to the ring to face Jake Paul this summer.

Tyson retired from professional boxing in 2005 and hasn’t stepped foot in the ring since he drew an exhibition fight against Roy Jones Jr in 2020.

‘Iron Mike’ will be 58 years old when he takes on YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul in Arlington, Texas on July 20, some 31 years older than his opponent.

Plenty of high profile boxers and MMA stars have criticised the match-up, citing concerns over Tyson’s health and ability to fight an opponent so much younger than him.

Despite that, the former heavyweight world champion is busy preparing for the unlikely showdown.

That doesn’t mean he hasn’t been able to indulge in his other passions though, including watching tennis.

Well, that would be the case if he was allowed to take his seat…

On Tuesday, footage emerged of a security guard at the Miami Open appearing to prevent Tyson from taking his seat.

The boxer is a huge tennis fan, and has family connections to the sport as well.

His daughter, Milan, has played tennis since the age of three and has trained with the former coach of Serena Williams.

Tyson landed himself in hot water with his daughter when he failed to name Williams – Milan’s greatest inspiration – as the best player ever.

He instead chose Japanese star Naomi Osaka, who beat Williams in the 2018 US Open final.

Meanwhile, footage of Paul’s first day of training in preparation for his fight with Tyson has gone viral.

Paul is certainly confident, saying: “I want to see how hard he hits. Mike, I really want to see, bro. Let’s see all the legends, the myths, because you’re Iron Mike Tyson, but I have an iron chin, people know that. I take shots.”

A video of Jake Paul’s first day of training ahead of his fight against Mike Tyson has gone viral as footage has been compared to the boxing legend’s camp.

Paul, who scored a big win over Ryan Bourland earlier this month, will welcome Tyson back to the ring when they clash on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The showdown between Paul and Tyson has been widely condemned by fans and critics alike.

UFC boss Dana White held nothing back as he slammed the contest, but recently made a U-turn after receiving a phone call.

Tyson looks to be in supreme shape as he shared explosive footage of his first day of training ahead of his ring return.

Paul has now begun his camp ahead of facing the former world heavyweight champion.

And it’s fair to say, they are adopting a very, very different approach ahead of their summer bout.

‘The Problem Child’ posted a video of himself partying in St Barts with his girlfriend Jutta Leerdam, who has made her feelings clear on the fight.

Footage of his first day of training has been compared to the 57-year-old’s and it makes for telling viewing.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer, who boasts victories over Tyron Woodley, Anderson Silva and Nate Diaz, is in confident mood and even challenged ‘Iron’ Mike to test his ‘iron chin’.

“I want to see how hard he hits. Mike, I really want to see, bro. Let’s see all the legends, the myths, because you’re Iron Mike Tyson, but I have an iron chin, people know that. I take shots,” he said.

“I think people are underestimating me being able to deal with his power, and that’s something that’s going to make it interesting.”

The 27-year-old added: “I am biting off a lot. This is definitely the toughest, most savage, lethal opponent regardless of age, because the power is the last thing to go.

“The reaction and reception of it is insane. I almost can’t even believe it, so very surreal and very, very grateful for all of that. We’re going to see. I’m excited. I literally can’t wait to look across the ring and see him and give him a f**king death stare.”

Saudi adviser reveals Tyson Fury 'secret' about sparring cut that he 'didn't want people to know'

Tyson Fury has had a ‘secret’ about his sparring cut revealed by Saudi Arabian royal adviser Turki Alalshikh.

WBC champion Fury was due to face WBA, IBF and WBO belt holder Oleksandr Usyk in an undisputed heavyweight title fight in Saudi Arabia on February 17 – in an event dubbed ‘Ring of Fire’.

However, the bout was called off on Friday after Fury sustained a cut above his right eye during a sparring session.

Fury, Usyk and Alalshikh appeared on The MMA Hour With Ariel Helwani on Saturday evening to announce the fight had been rearranged for May 18.

Alalshikh also revealed that Usyk and Fury will receive a £10m payment from their opponent if they pull out of the new fight date.

“I guarantee both of the fighters £10m if someone escapes from the fight. This is the first thing, and the second thing – I guarantee a big fight on the same night for another one,” said Alalshikh.

“Make the people around the world know if someone is scared and wants to escape from this fight. May 18th – we will have Tyson vs Usyk.”

Alalshikh went on to claim that Fury originally intended to face Usyk on February 17, even after sustaining the cut in training.

“I want to tell you something that is a secret. Tyson doesn’t want me to tell it,” added Alalshikh.

“He wanted to fight on the 17th even with the cut and I said ‘I am not crazy to put you in the ring with this cut. It will be a circus, not a fight.’”

Alalshikh’s comments come after some questioned the timing of Fury’s cut, just two weeks out from original fight date.

Conspiracy theories circulated on social media after the fight was postponed, which claimed that Fury was intentionally trying to avoid facing Fury .

However, Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn was quick to dismiss those conspiracy claims and stated that setbacks like this are common in boxing.

“It looks like a bad cut,” Hearn told iFL TV.

“I’ve seen in the footage that it’s an elbow or something like that. He spars with an open head guard, but he’s sparred thousands of rounds in his career.

“Even in my group chats with my mates saying, ‘That sounds fishy to me’, I’m like ‘Guys, what do you think? He’s not just going to go out and carve himself open with a knife!’.

“He’s trained a whole camp, it’s two weeks away from a monster pay day and a fight for the undisputed heavyweight championship.

“It’s not a hooky, it’s boxing, it happens, but it’s devastating that it happens to a fight of that magnitude.”

Meanwhile, Alalshikh said Fury would have no excuses if he refused to fight Usyk in May.

“Even if he isn’t ready by the 18th, he will fight. I will accept it because we have a deadline with the IBF,” added Alalshikh.

“I don’t want a headache with the IBF. We have a contract, a deadline – we will deliver this fight.”

Tyson Fury named the exact order of his next five fights.

WBC champion Fury is set to take Ukraine’s Oleksandr Usyk, who holds the WBA, WBO and IBF belts on May 18.

The fight was pushed back from February 17 after Fury suffered a cut to an eye during his Saudi Arabia training camp.

The eagerly anticipated bout in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, will crown the first undisputed heavyweight champion in the four-belt era.

But Fury’s withdrawal led to some fans doubting whether Fury and Usyk would ever fight each other, especially with the Briton nursing a concerning laceration on his right eyelid.

However, Fury is already looking ahead to future fights, including a long-awaited encounter with Anthony Joshua and a potential rematch with Francis Ngannou.

In a video posted on his Instagram, Fury said: “I keep hearing talk that I should retire, or I’m going to retire soon or whatever.

“I ain’t going to retire anyway. I’ve got two fights with Usyk for the undisputed. Twice. Then I’m going to fight AJ (Joshua), at least once, maybe twice if there’s a rematch, if he wants one after the first battering of him.

“And then I’m going to fight Ngannou again. And that’s just a start.

“So there are five fights for you to whet your appetite. I ain’t going nowhere. Nowhere.

“35-year-old in the prime of my life.”

Fury has indicated a fresh eagerness to test himself against Joshua, having last year dismissed the prospect of the fight ever taking place.

Moreover, his willingness to fight Ngannou again could also excite fans given how close their first bout was. Ngannou almost upset the odds when he sent the WBC champion to the canvas with a left hook in the third round and had several other moments of success

That impressive display earned him another huge fight against Joshua in Saudi Arabia on March 8.

Oleksandr Usyk's promoter drops major Tyson Fury replacement update with new title fight one step away

Oleksandr Usyk could yet defend one of his world heavyweight titles in the coming months even though his fight with Tyson Fury has been postponed.

WBC champion Fury was expected to face WBA, IBF and WBO belt holder Usyk in Saudi Arabia on February 17 – in an event dubbed ‘Ring of Fire’.

However, the bout was called off on Friday after Fury sustained a cut above his right eye during a sparring session.

In a statement, Fury said he was “devastated” by the injury.

“I feel bad for everyone involved in this huge event and I will work diligently towards the rescheduled date once the eye has healed,” said Fury.

“I can only apologise to everyone affected including my own team, Team Usyk, the undercard fighters, partners, and fans, as well as our hosts and my friends in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”

Fury is now set to be sidelined for a number of months, leaving Usyk to assess his options.

One possibility for the Ukrainian is facing his mandatory challenger for the IBF title, Filip Hrgovic, next.

Usyk’s promoter Alex Krassyuk told Boxing News that talks are ongoing between the two camps and is confident that the fight can be made.

“No, we are just talking,” Krassyuk said, when asked whether a fight between Usyk and Hrgovic was close to being finalised.

“His people reached out saying that Filip Hrgovic is in camp, he was getting prepared for March 8.

“He’s under contract with the Saudi people and he gave an interview to ESPN saying that he’s ready to take the challenge and fight Usyk on February 17 which is good.

“The only thing to satisfy is Hrgovic’s financial demands and the fight is on.”

Hrgovic’s next fight had looked set to be on the undercard of Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou on March 8.

He was originally expected to face Joseph Parker but those plans have since changed, with the New Zealander now set to fight Zhilei Zhang instead.

Meanwhile, conspiracy theories have swirled on social media after Fury’s fight with Usyk was postponed.

They have been stoked by members of Usyk’s team, who have accused Fury of attempting the avoid facing the Ukrainian.

However, Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn was quick to dismiss those conspiracy claims.

Tyson Fury explodes on Oleksandr Usyk's manager in row over wife Paris Fury

Tyson Fury has threatened to knock Oleksandr Usyk’s manager’s teeth out in a row over his wife Paris Fury.

Fury clashed with Egis Klimas during a heated episode of The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani on Saturday night, following the postponement of his undisputed heavyweight world title fight with Usyk.

WBC champion Fury was due to face WBA, IBF and WBO belt holder Usyk in Saudi Arabia on February 17 – in an event dubbed ‘Ring of Fire’.

However, the bout was called off on Friday after Fury sustained a cut above his right eye during a sparring session.

Speaking after the fight was officially called off, Klimas said: “Tyson Fury is a f*****g coward who will do anything not to face Usyk, and he asked his b***h to hit him with a frying pan in his brow.

“You can quote me word for word for that. When the news was brought to Oleksandr, he just smiled. That is all he did. He is too mentally strong to break. I was waiting for this moment.”

Fury took exception to those comments and threatened Klimas during a video call on Helwani’s show.

“Never call me a coward again. I’ve had 35 professional fights and been boxing 18 years of my life,” said Fury.

“I’ve climbed off the canvas 10 times against some of the biggest punchers in history to win. Never a coward. Never backed down from any man in my life.

“And if any man calls my wife a bitch, I’ll take his f***ing teeth out.”

    Klimas responded by saying: “I didn’t call your wife a b***h. I don’t do that s***.”

To which Fury responded: “Well I’ll apologise for that because I thought you said that about my wife. But I’m no f***ing coward.

“How can you call me a coward? You’ve never boxed in your life. I’ve had 35 professional fights, I’m a two-time undefeated heavyweight champion, I’m the second longest lineal champion in history.

    “How am I a coward?”

Earlier in the show, Saudi Arabian royal adviser Turki Alalshikh confirmed that the fight between Usyk and Fury would now take place on May 18 – with a £10m penalty fee put in place for either fighter, should they drop out.

“We can deliver the fight and I choose the date – it is May 18. We have delayed it until May 18,” he said.

“I guarantee both of the fighters £10m if someone escapes from the fight. This is the first thing, and the second thing – I guarantee a big fight on the same night for another one,” he added.

“Make the people around the world know if someone is scared and wants to escape from this fight.
