Providing chief support on the night are cruiserweight rivals Jai Opetaia and Mairis Briedis.

Opetaia beat Briedis for the IBF title in 2023 and a rematch was then called.

But Opetaia opted to instead fight on Anthony Joshua’s undercard in December and as a result lost his belt.

So the title he was harshly forced to vacate will once again be on the line when he shares the ring with Briedis again.

Also defending his IBF super-featherweight world title is undefeated Welshman Joe Cordina against Northern Irishman Anthony Cacare.

Heavyweights Agit Kabayel and Frank Sanchez collide in a WBC eliminator as they look to rise the ranks for a shot at the strap.

Moses Itauma – the 19-year-old dubbed Britain’s answer to Mike Tyson – returns against Ilja Mazencev.

And New Zealand cruiserweight David Nyika also faces Michael Seitz.

Francis Ngannou and Mike Tyson engage in ‘GOAT’ debate, discuss WWE legends, favorite KOs, MMA Icons, top actors, and more

Francis Ngannou and Mike Tyson’s collaboration keeps on delivering delightful content for combat sports fans.

The veteran knockout artist ruled the ring in his prime and arguably the current baddest man on the planet, Ngannou, left his opponents kissing the canvas during his octagon stint.

Recently, two of the scariest personalities in the history of combat sports – Mike Tyson and Francis Ngannou – came together to pick their GOATs in different realms ranging from boxing to MMA to professional wrestling, entertainment, and more.

‘The Predator’ and ‘Iron Mike’ picked GOATs in the following categories:

Both Ngannou and Tyson picked the uppercut as their favorite move to take consciousness away from their opponents. Both had Jon Jones as their GOAT MMA fighter.

Ngannou picked Hulk Hogan as the best wrestler while Tyson went with Ric Flair. The boxing legend did not pick any shoe as his favorite since none of them sponsored him. Ngannou, who comes from a very humble background, picked Air Jordan as his favorite shoes. ‘The Predator’ remembered the time when he had no shoes and looked at a Jay-Z pair in 2000 and wanted to get his hands on them.

Tyson picked his loss against Buster Douglas in 1990 as his best fight. He ranked his knockout of Larry Holmes as the best in his career.

‘The Predator’ ranked his vicious knockout of Alistair Overeem as his best whereas Tyson offered that Ngannou’s knockout of Jairzinho Rozenstruik was one of his best.

Ngannou has a chance to make a strong case for himself as one of the greatest combat sports athletes of all time when he faces heavyweight boxing world champion, Tyson Fury on October 28.

He has come under criticism amid the 30-year age gap between them and ex-cruiserweight champ Bellew is the latest to hit out.

Bellew, 41, told SpinBet: “I am worried about it personally, but listen, you don’t know what’s been agreed between the two.

“It’s frightening that Mike Tyson is going back into a boxing ring against somebody who is more than 30 years younger than him. It’s just a bit nuts.

“I’m hoping that the fight is a bit of a circus and a bit scripted because I wouldn’t want to see Mike get hurt in any way shape or form.

“Let’s see what happens. He is going to be getting paid an awful lot of money and nobody has the right to stop him from doing that.”

Paul is 9-1 as a boxer, suffering his only defeat last year to Tommy Fury, 24, before bouncing back with three straight wins.

Tyson meanwhile retired in 2005 officially but did return in 2020 to draw over eight exhibition rounds with fellow great Roy Jones Jr.

Despite the fact Iron Mike will be 58 by the time of the bout, Paul insisted it will be his toughest test to date.

Beckham then gifted Tilbury the Matte Bronzing Brick (retailing for $58) from Victoria Beckham Beauty, which she swears by for contouring her nose.

Key figure departs Max Verstappen Red Bull circle ahead of Japanese GP

Max Verstappen, Red Bull, 2024 Bahrain Grand Prix.

Max Verstappen will be without chief mechanic Lee Stevenson from now on…

Max Verstappen will be racing without his chief mechanic from now on, with Lee Stevenson moving on from Red Bull.

Max Verstappen’s chief mechanic Lee Stevenson has called time on his career with Red Bull, leaving the Milton Keynes-based squad after 18 years.

    Lee Stevenson departs Red Bull

Stevenson joined Red Bull in 2006, working as a number two mechanic until 2014 when he was promoted to a number one mechanic. He became Max Verstappen’s chief race mechanic at the start of 2023, having worked closely alongside the Dutch driver as part of his crew ever since Verstappen was promoted to Red Bull in 2016.

But Stevenson is moving on to pastures new, with a job with a team at “the other end of the pit lane” that will involve him moving to Japan. Stevenson’s departure from Red Bull was agreed during the 2023 season.

Taking to Instagram, Stevenson confirmed his departure with a farewell message from Red Bull’s MK-7 facility in Milton Keynes, in which he stood alongside all the cars he’s worked on over his years with the team.

“I just thought I’d hop on here, just to let you all know that you won’t be seeing any more posts from me from Red Bull because today’s my last day!” he said.

“It’s been an amazing 18 years and all the things that I’ve managed to achieve here with the team, it’s just been absolutely incredible.

“Working on the first car, the RB2, all the way through to the RB16B and obviously the RB19.

“It has been an incredible journey. I just want to say thanks to everyone here. It’s been an amazing time that I’ve had here.

“In 2006, when I started, I never thought we’d win races, get poles, or win championships, but we’ve managed to do all of that and it’s just been amazing.

“So yeah, on to the next chapter. That chapter starts on Monday when I fly to Japan, and start work with my new team at the other end of the pit lane.

“It’s gonna be a massive challenge, but it’s one that I’m ready for!”

Stevenson’s last day with Red Bull was on March 28th, meaning that, unfortunately for him, he couldn’t sign off on his tenure with them with a victory as Verstappen retired from last weekend’s Australian Grand Prix with a rear brake issue on his RB20.

Stevenson’s successor as Red Bull’s chief mechanic is Chris Genty, who has been acting in this role since the start of this season.

Charles Leclerc highlights ‘exciting opportunity’ as Ferrari warning sent to Lewis Hamilton

Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton look at each other eye to eye with a prominent Ferrari badge alongside them

Charles Leclerc vs Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari promises to be one of the most thrilling battles of 2025.

While Charles Leclerc expects to “learn” from future Ferrari team-mate Lewis Hamilton, he also warned that he is motivated to “show what I’m able to do” against Formula 1’s most successful driver.

As part of what turned out to be a hectic off-season, Hamilton announced that the dream move to Ferrari would at last become a reality in 2025, as he now navigates his way through a final season with Mercedes, the team with which he has won six of his seven World Championships.

Charles Leclerc up for ‘exciting’ Lewis Hamilton ‘challenge’

Ferrari were busy ahead of the F1 2024 campaign with contract renewals, Leclerc securing a new multi-year deal, though the team chose to sign Hamilton over retaining Sainz, Leclerc admitting this was a possibility he knew was there a few months ahead of confirmation.

Asked by Fox Sports whether the Hamilton bombshell came as a shock or if he was given the heads-up by Ferrari, Leclerc replied: “I knew it since quite a few months that it was a possibility that it was on the table.

“Obviously then, it was still a surprise to learn that there was opportunities of this happening.

“But still, I mean, I’ve had a really amazing relationship with Carlos. We have had amazing years together, more difficult years also together as a team because the performance was not exactly where we wanted, but we have been working extremely well together and we are looking forward to this last year together in order to end that in the best way possible.

“And then obviously Lewis will be joining the team, which is an amazing challenge for me, because he’s the most successful driver in F1 history. And it’s going to be great to have him as a team-mate.”

However, when put to him that this will be an opportunity to learn from the driver with the most wins, poles, podiums and joint-most titles in F1 history, Leclerc pointed out that there is also another side to this.

Rather than simply being a sponge and soaking up lessons from Hamilton, Leclerc knows exactly what it will do for his reputation if he is able to take the fight to Hamilton, which is what he intends on doing.

“Of course I will learn from Lewis,” said Leclerc, “it’s also an opportunity for me to show what I’m able to do, which I take it as an exciting challenge.

“And yeah, I think it’s going to be great.”

It has been a case of mixed fortunes for Leclerc and Hamilton at the start of F1 2024, Leclerc twice making the podium in the opening three rounds, while Hamilton is yet to finish higher than P7.

Lewis Hamilton looks tense ahead of the 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix with a prominent Mercedes badge alongside him

Lewis Hamilton has endured a tough start to his final season with Mercedes

Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff praised the mentality of Lewis Hamilton despite a rough start to F1 2024, even when “over the fence” he can see rival teams excelling.

The F1 2024 ambition for Mercedes was to take a clear step forward in the pecking order and set their sights on challenging Red Bull rather than keeping their head above water versus the chasing pack, though that goal has hit an early roadblock.

Lewis Hamilton ‘as good as you can be’ for Mercedes

It has been Red Bull and Ferrari setting the pace so far, Ferrari responding to Red Bull’s back-to-back 1-2 finishes with one of their own in Australia, while Mercedes are yet to finish higher than George Russell’s P5 at the opening round in Bahrain.

And Russell has taken firm control of the intra-team battle versus Hamilton, who is off to Ferrari for 2025, leading many to question where Hamilton’s head is at after this underwhelming start to the season. Wolff though, has no such concerns.

“I think the drivers are super in this whole setup, because Lewis is as good as you can be,” Wolff assured media personnel in Melbourne.

“He’s in a situation obviously where, on one side it’s super frustrating to see that we are not getting it, on the other side, look over the fence and it’s pretty good what’s happening there.

“But that is not his main priority today and George is just a fighter and is digging in and he knows that’s his place, so we’ve got to sort this out.”

And the need to escape this slump is a message very much backed by Hamilton, who after retiring from the Australian Grand Prix with an engine failure, called this his “worst start to a season” ever.

Nonetheless, in keeping with Wolff’s view on the matter, Hamilton was keen to retain a positive outlook on the situation he and Mercedes are in.

“I mean, this is the worst start to season I’ve ever had,” he acknowledged to the media in Melbourne.

“Surprisingly, I feel pretty good. I’m trying to keep things in perspective, you know, this like, could be so much worse.

“I’m really grateful. I’ve really enjoyed my time here in Australia, I’m still enjoying working with a team. Of course, I’d love to be fighting for wins and actually finishing races.

“It’s never a great feeling when you come all this way, and you don’t see even half of the race, but what I know is that we will bounce back, we will eventually get there, we just have to continue to chip away.”

Hamilton is sat on a tally of just eight points after the opening three rounds of F1 2024.

Lewis Hamilton told to ‘lead by example’ after calls for FIA ‘transparency’

Lewis Hamilton looks concerned with a prominent FIA logo alongside him

Lewis Hamilton has been vocal in his criticism of the FIA and president Mohammed Ben Sulayem

Former F1 driver David Coulthard has urged Lewis Hamilton to “lead by example” when it comes to calling for greater transparency from the FIA, claiming the Mercedes driver only pipes up in moments of controversy.

F1 has been rocked by a number of off-track controversies over recent months, including the ongoing Red Bull saga and a probe into accusations of alleged race interference by Mohammed Ben Sulayem, which resulted in the FIA president being cleared by the governing body’s ethics committee.

Lewis Hamilton targeted after FIA transparency comments

Those affairs came after Susie Wolff, the managing director of the F1 Academy feeder series and wife of Mercedes team boss Toto, was at the centre of claims of an alleged conflict of interest in December 2023.

Mrs Wolff announced ahead of this month’s Australian Grand Prix that she has filed a criminal complaint against the FIA, with her action publicly supported by current Mercedes driver Hamilton in Melbourne.

Hamilton said: “I’m incredibly proud of Susie.

“I think she’s so brave and she stands for such great values. She’s such a leader and in a world where often people are silenced, for her to be standing up sends such a great message.

“I love that she’s taken it out of this world, fighting it from the outside, because there is a real lack of accountability here within this sport, within the FIA, things that are happening behind closed doors, there is no transparency.

“There is really no accountability and we need that; I think the fans need that. How can you trust the sport and what is happening here if you don’t have that?

“Hopefully, this stand that she’s taken now will create change, will have a positive impact, and especially for women.

“It is still a male-dominated sport, and we’re living in a time where the message is, ‘If you file a complaint, you will be fired’, and that is a terrible narrative to be projecting to the world.

“So, especially when we’re talking about inclusivity here in the sport, we need to make sure that we are staying true to the core values here.”

Lewis Hamilton car collection: Take a closer look at his incredible private garage

Hamilton went on to reveal that he “never has” supported Ben Sulayem, who was elected FIA president shortly after the Mercedes driver was denied a record eighth World Championship in highly controversial circumstances at the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Hamilton’s stance has been questioned by former McLaren and Red Bull driver Coulthard, who has called for the 39-year-old to lead the way when it comes to openness and transparency.

Appearing on the Formula For Success podcast, Coulthard said: “There’s one school of thought that says: ‘There’s no such thing as bad publicity.’

“Whenever there’s been big traumas and Formula 1 – loss of life and horrible situations like that – the audience has grown because it takes it off the back pages and puts it on the front pages.

“We’ve had Lewis Hamilton ask for more accountability and transparency across the board.

“I’m always a bit curious on that, actually, because it’s like people ask for things whilst they’re not having to do it. Lead by example in being transparent and open, rather than just doing so whenever there’s a controversy.”

Coulthard’s co-host, the former F1 team owner Eddie Jordan, has become the latest high-profile figure to back Wolff – and expressed his frustration that the various controversies surrounding the sport are taking attention away from the on-track action.

He said: “Susie is such a competent girl. I remember seeing and being super impressed with Susie Wolff driving a Formula 1 car at Williams.

“She is a proper girl. She’s feisty – she’s Scottish, which probably helps being feisty – but a wonderful girl.

“So if she feels and has felt slighted reputationally and various other ways, business wise, she has every right [to take action].

“I would promise the FIA they will need to have a very comprehensive prosecutor, lawyer, whatever, because Susie Wolff would not be going into that kind of situation unprepared.

“It’s similar to Mohammed Ben Sulayem, Mr President of the FIA.

“He’s been cleared [but was] under some serious hassle. The ethics committee of the FIA have cleared him. Some people are calling into to question: who are the ethics committee? Who are they and what did they hear and was there any opposite side to it?

“We will never know and I don’t think we should take sides. I just wish all of this just evaporated and we got on with what we want to talk about, which is hardcore motor racing.

“What do we think can happen? What’s going to happen in the next race? Who’s going to win the Championship? What happens to Carlos Sainz’s future? Where does [Alex] Albon go? Does he go to Mercedes? Does he sit where he is?

“There’s a lot of intrigue out there. They are the things that I think [the fans] want to talk about.”

Aston Martin have reportedly joined the race to sign Christian Horner‘s right-hand man Adrian Newey.

Chief technical officer Newey was linked with a stunning move to Ferrari earlier this month amid the fall-out from an internal investigation into former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell‘s husband.

Now Aston Martin chief Lawrence Stroll has made a big-money contract offer to lure the 65-year-old, according to motorsport.com

Ambitious Stroll wants to build a team that can rival Red Bull, Mercedes and Ferrari.

Newey has played a vital role in designing Red Bull cars that have brought so much success over the years, including winning the last three world championships with Max Verstappen.

He has been dubbed the ‘aero king’, helping the team become the dominant constructor on the track, with the current driver and constructors championship leaders set to storm to yet another two world titles this year.

There has, however, been unrest in the team since the furore over the Horner saga, in which he was investigated and subsequently cleared after accusations of ‘coercive behaviour’ towards a female colleague , and it remains unclear what their future looks like.

Horner – who earns £8million a year as team principal – was the subject of an internal investigation last month after accusations, which he has denied throughout the process, were made against him, before he was cleared.

However, several messages that were alleged to be between Horner and his accuser were then leaked via anonymous email, adding further furore to the situation.

The bombshell email – which was sent to leading F1 figures – contained 79 documents, including hundreds of messages, many of them of a sexual nature.

The Red Bull chief, husband of former Spice Girl Halliwell, has insisted he will stay in his role, but the saga has overshadowed the start of the F1 season.

Jos Verstappen, father of Red Bull’s star driver Max, is among those who have called for Horner to resign, and it has also been reported that Horner has in fact been trying to push Newey out of the team.

Newey, meanwhile, has in the past expressed his desire to work with Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari before he calls time on his career.

The opportunity seems to have now presented itself, with Hamilton set to join Ferrari in 2025 from Mercedes and Prancing Horse chief Fred Vasseur now re-building the side.

Hamilton, meanwhile, spoke on Newey prior to the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix last weekend.

‘I think my move has shown that anything’s possible and it’s going to be a really interesting next six months or so,’ he said. ‘In terms of Adrian, having worked within the team [Red Bull], I know obviously Adrian gets all the praise for everybody’s work.’
