Since 2023, Sergio Perez has been subject to a plethora of rumors suggesting that Red Bull might be looking to replace him. Failing to keep up with Max Verstappen, there was even a doubt around the possibility of him finishing in P2 in the drivers’ standings. However, the Mexican driver has had a much better start to the 2024 season, securing three P2 finishes in four races. Taking note of the same, team principal Christian Horner details the impact of Perez’s performance on his plans for the team.

Things were positive for Perez after the first two races in Bahrain and Jeddah. However, once he was the only Red Bull driver on the track (in Australia), Perez failed to break into the top 3. Fresh rumors arose of Horner wanting to do away with Perez as he lacked a ‘take-charge’ attitude. Then, the Guadalajara-born driver turned things around once again in Japan, securing a P2 finish. An 8-second lead over Carlos Sainz (who finished p3) led to the rumors dying down.

The doubts around Perez are currently on the down low, as Horner claimed it was still too early in the season to rush a decision. He added that while Perez remains a priority, Red Bull will still wait for a few more races before reaching a decision. Total Motorsport quoted Horner,

“Checo needs to just keep doing what he’s doing. The whole driver market seems to be very early this year, everybody seems to be rushing around and we’re only four races into the year. So I think we’re not in any huge rush and obviously there’s a significant amount of interest in our cars as you’d expect but Checo has the priority and it’s going to be a few more races yet before we start to think about next year.”

Regardless, Perez has his work cut out for him. As evident by the scrutiny after his poor performance in Melbourne, Perez will be put under pressure every time he doesn’t live up to Red Bull’s standards. In case the Mexican gets sacked, Red Bull will have a list of replacements ready.

Red Bull have viable Sergio Perez alternatives

Right off the bat, Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz are ready replacements for Perez. Both drivers are out of contract in 2025 and have the necessary resume to be appropriate replacements for the Mexican driver. Alonso is a two-time former world champion and has a personality similar to Verstappen. It might allow the drivers to get along well and fetch strong race weekends for their team.

Meanwhile, Carlos Sainz is the only non-Red Bull driver to win a race in 2023 and 2024 (so far). Hence, Red Bull might want to bring him on board. Not only will it lead to Verstappen having to push himself more, but it will also allow the Austrian team to secure a long-term partnership with the Spanish driver.

Furthermore, the need to replace Perez might be high in 2025 should he fail to prove his dependability. There is a high likelihood of the field getting a lot more competitive in 2025, and Red Bull would want to sport the best lineup on the grid. Additionally, Perez will run out of a contract at the end of this season, and there is yet to be any development in his contract negotiations.

Sergio Perez has been under threat of being replaced at Red Bull for over two years now. The Mexican driver has had a hard time keeping up with Max Verstappen despite securing P2 in the drivers’ standings last year. Amid news of potential names popping up to replace him, F1 expert Robert Doornbos reveals Perez actually asked his team for a contract extension. However, the response from the team was far from positive.

As per F1 Maximaal, Doornbos said, “Pérez went to that team yesterday and said, I want a three-year deal. At the table there is a laughing reaction to the anecdote.”

Doornbos claimed the person to reject Perez‘s three-year ask was Helmut Marko. Detailing further, he explained that Red Bull should only consider giving Perez a one-year extension. Handing him a two-year deal would mean Perez would “sit back and give up again.” Thus, Doornbos, too, is in favor of letting Perez run every year on a one-year deal.

While Perez’s future is still uncertain, it seems unlikely that the question mark over the same will go away anytime soon. Despite a strong return to form, Christian Horner claimed it was still too early to make a decision on Perez’s future. Helmut Marko also chimed in as he explained his team doesn’t talk about driver decisions in April. Despite the acceleration in the headlines, Red Bull remains adamant about seeing how things evolve before making a decision.

The start of the 2024 season has been mostly positive for Perez, with 3 2nd-place finishes in 4 races. Owing to the same, Perez has climbed up to P2 in the drivers’ standings with a 5-point lead over P3. Given the same, Red Bull management has been happy with his performances leading to his exit rumors dying down a little. Helmut Marko was particularly impressed with the improvements of Perez, given he has stopped experimenting with his car. The Mexican has shown a lot more confidence in the team’s engineers leading to positive results.

However, 2024 hasn’t only been smooth sailing for Perez. The Australian GP saw all of Red Bull’s hopes fall on his shoulders after Max Verstappen suffered a DNF. Driving under extra pressure, the 33-year-old could only muster up a P5 finish, leaving Ferrari as the only team to feature on the podium in each race this season. Hence, there are still chances of Perez crumbling under pressure, which would lead to the team replacing him.

Should this happen, Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz stand as the immediate candidates to fill the seat. Both drivers are currently out of a contract for 2025 and looking for employment. Hence, Perez needs to ensure he keeps Verstappen in his sight till the season’s end to stand a chance of getting a contract.

The birthday post comes just months after Nicola squashed rumors of an ongoing behind-the-scenes feud between the pair.

The actress, who wed Brooklyn Peltz Beckham in April 2022, opened up in an interview in September, and said there’s no drama with her in-laws, despite what some people may want to think.

Nicola also reiterated that there’s no drama over the dress she wore for her Florida wedding. After early reports claimed she was going to wear a design by her future mother-in-law, some were surprised to see her walk down the aisle in a custom Valentino gown instead.

“When I read things that say [things like] I was never planning on wearing a [Victoria Beckham] dress or things like that, it does hurt my feelings,” she said. “I try not to let it, but it’s just not the truth. It’s just a bit of a bummer when you’re like, ‘Oh, people think that,’ but it’s just not true.”

Nicola told Variety in August that she was aware of the rumored feud between her and Victoria — and she knew it was because of her dress choice.

“[Victoria] didn’t say you can’t wear it; I didn’t say I didn’t want to wear it. That’s where it started, and then they ran with that,” Nicola said of not wearing a VB gown.

David Beckham is a super dad! On Thursday, Victoria Beckham shared a video of her husband, 48, cutting up cucumbers into hearts for their daughter Harper Seven.

“Artistry really early in the morning,” Victoria, 48, said over the clip as David cut into the cucumber pieces. “What you doing, David?”

“Making Harper’s cucumber water,” David replied.

“Such a good daddy, @davidbeckham,” Victoria wrote over the video as she filmed the tiny love-hearted cucumbers.

The father of four also grinned as he wrapped his arm around Harper and held onto the water jar.

As well as Harper, David and Victoria — who tied the knot in 1999 — are parents to sons Brooklyn, 24,  Romeo, 21, and Cruz, 18. The couple are also parents-in-law to Brooklyn’s wife, actress Nicola Peltz Beckham, 28.

Meanwhile, taking after his tattooed dad, son Romeo recently shared a snap of his new ink in honor of his girlfriend Mia Regan.

On Sunday, the pair celebrated the model’s 21st birthday, with Romeo posting a pic of his new inner elbow tattoo of the word “Mooch,” referencing Mia’s nickname and Instagram handle, “Mimi Moocher.”

In footage posted to Paul’s social media, the former Disney child actor can be seen rolling into the arena on top of the tank while clenching his fists.

When the vehicle finally arrives at its destination, Paul simply hops off and walks towards the locker rooms like it was nothing.

Commenting on his Instagram post, UFC legend Jon Jones said: “Well, that’s a first.”

As it stands, bookies have appointed Paul as the favourite.

Many fans claim that when “Iron” Mike Tyson dropped Kevin Rooney as his trainer, he was never the same. Others say it was his drug use.

In his next fight, Tyson goes to Denmark and stops “Super” Brian Nielsen, 62-1, in six rounds. By the time of his next fight against Lennox “The Lion” Lewis, 39-2-1, it was obvious he was not the fighter he once was, getting knocked out in eight rounds. Tyson came back and knocked out Clifford Etienne, 24-1, in the first round.

In his last two fights, he was but a shell of himself, being stopped both times being knocked out by Danny Williams, 31-3, in four rounds and Kevin McBride, 32-4-1, after six rounds not coming out for the seventh round and then retiring from boxing. Cruz Beckham celebrated his 17th birthday in style by appearing on his first magazine cover, but the internet appears divided over the reaction of his parents.

Many people have also pointed out an age discrepancy since the photos must have been taken while he was still only 16-years-old.

The various images, which were taken by American photographer Steven Klein, show Cruz topless with dyed pink hair, jewelry and an array of extravagant clothing choices.

The images were inspired by pictures taken of David Beckham when he was a young soccer star.

Within i-D’s “Out of Body” issue, the accompanying interview features Cruz discussing “coming of age” and his music career.

David shared the pictures of his son on his Instagram account as he claimed he’s “such a proud dad” while Victoria wrote “Big first day as a 17-year-old!” Older brothers Brooklyn and Romeo also showed their support for Cruz by sharing the images on their Instagram stories.

While some comments show support for the family and the style of the images, other people have expressed their dissatisfaction with the magazine cover.

On Twitter, @Llexxbee wrote, “Why is it socially acceptable for Cruz Beckham to be taking photos In his underwear/grabbing his crotch/clearly showing he has tattoos under age when he was 16 when the photos were taken?!😬 and why is Victoria hyping them? He’s a child.”

Others echoed the sentiment, with @bjewl_ calling the shoot “disturbingly inappropriate,” while @_JessicaDavies questioned what the reaction would have been if they had been pictures of a 16-year-old girl posing in her underwear.

Ignoring the appropriateness for a second, @jaymesblond pointed out that Cruz’s family connections are helping his career, writing “the beckham’s are one of my favorite categories of nepotism.”

Ever since the calendar started reading 2024, life within the Red Bull camp hasn’t been easy. The team has been a part of several controversies over the last 4 months, leading to many employees feeling out of place in Milton Keynes. Stemming from the same, there have been rumors about Adrian Newey wanting to leave the team. Addressing the situation, F1 expert Robert Doornbos recently claimed he has heard Newey might not be renewing his contract with his current employers.

In an interview with F1 Maximaal, Doornbos said, “What I have heard is that Adrian Newey will no longer renew his contract.”

Ever since the rumors surfaced, all of the teams of the grid have been interested in poaching the aerodynamic genius. With top teams having a better chance to secure his services, Mercedes and Ferrari have emerged as strong contenders to bring him to their team. Not being able to have worked with Ferrari or Lewis Hamilton in his career is among the few regrets of Newey’s life. With the two entities joining forces in 2025, Maranello could become a more than ideal destination for the British Engineer.

Newey has been with Red Bull for nearly two decades. After leaving McLaren, he joined Red Bull in 2006 following a major increase in pay offered by the team. The involvement of Christian Horner also played a crucial role in the proceedings, given the two share a close friendship. Under Newey, Red Bull turned the tide in their favor, winning back-to-back championships from 2010 to 2013. The Milton Keynes-based team returned to championship-winning ways in 2022, defending the crown in 2023.

Rumors aside, a sensational development occurred when news erupted of Aston Martin reaching out to Adrian Newey. The English team wanted to poach Newey’s services by offering him a ‘big money‘ move. Lawrence Stroll has adopted an aggressive approach in trying to win a championship for his team, and securing Newey’s services is a part of the same approach. Helmut Marko addressed the rumors and claimed losing Newey would certainly put his team at a disadvantage. However, the Red Bull team is more than just one man, and the team shouldn’t have too much of a problem in healing from the loss.

Meanwhile, problems still surround Red Bull with Christian Horner at the helm. Allegations and investigations have rocked the setup, which has also led to Newey wanting to stay away from the chaos. The suspended female employee is now reportedly seeking legal action against Horner after not reaching a satisfactory conclusion via the internal investigation. Furthermore, news about an internal power struggle between Horner and Marko continues to surface. It caught further wind when Marko was missing from Red Bull’s team photo following their race win in Suzuka.
