Witness Mike Tyson’s Masterclass as He Guides Francis Ngannou to Deliver a Perfect Boxing KO

‘The Predator’ is finally set to make his boxing debut later this year against Tyson Fury. For Ngannou, he’s discussed a potential move to the ring for years. In January, he vacated the UFC heavyweight title and left the company to make it a reality.

While many doubted his ability to get a high-profile fight, he succeeded. Ngannou will face ‘The Gypsy King’ in October in Saudi Arabia. The contest won’t have the WBC title on the line, but it’s still the first time that the lineal heavyweight champions from MMA and boxing will meet.

Mike Tyson: I Thought [Fury-Ngannou] Was Ridiculous, Too, Until I Saw [ Ngannou] Spar - Boxing News

Following the fight announcement this week, the former UFC champion opened as a massive underdog.

Nonetheless, Francis Ngannou has already gotten some tips from the great Mike Tyson. In 2020, ‘The Predator’ and ‘Iron Mike’ did a podcast together. Following the discussion, the two decided to go and shadowbox, with Tyson giving a few pointers.

While the former champion is in his 50s, there’s no doubt that he still has speed and his combinations are on point. While many are counting Ngannou out of his boxing debut, he’s received help from the best around.
Can't Do It Alone…”- Amid “Hero” Mike Tyson Training Francis Ngannou, 58-Year-Old First UFC HW Champ Who Asked for Boxing Legend's Help Provides Update on Combat Sports Return - EssentiallySports

Mike Tyson believes Francis Ngannou has a shot against Tyson Fury.

‘The Gypsy King’ is considered one of the greatest heavyweights not just on the planet, but ever. Fury’s ability to switch styles, from being a defensive big man on his feet, to a brawler in the clinch, is second to none.

Furthermore, his chin is seemingly uncrackable. In his trilogy with Deontay Wilder, Fury was knocked down several times across the three fights. Every single time, the British champion somehow found his way back to his feet.

‘The Bronze Bomber’ is known as arguably the hardest-hitting boxer ever. Yet, he failed to put down Fury for good in their series leading many to doubt that Ngannou can.

For those reasons, Francis Ngannou has opened as a massive betting underdog for October. However, Mike Tyson believes the former UFC star has a shot against Tyson Fury. In a previous interview with TMZ Sports earlier this year, the heavyweight legend was asked about the potential fight.

In response, the former champion gave a three-word answer. When asked if Francis Ngannou can defeat Tyson Fury in the boxing ring, Tyson answered:

  • Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk and Deontay Wilder vs Anthony Joshua ‘could happen on SAME night in Saudi Arabia’

Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk and Deontay Wilder vs Anthony Joshua ‘could happen on SAME night in Saudi Arabia’

A mega-heavyweight tournament in the Middle East involving Fury, Usyk, Wilder and Joshua could carry an eye-watering £325m purse.

Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk and Deontay Wilder vs Anthony Joshua 'could happen on SAME night in Saudi Arabia'

Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk and Deontay Wilder vs Anthony Joshua could happen on the same night in Saudi Arabia as part of a four-man heavyweight boxing tournament.

That is according to Matchroom chief Eddie Hearn, who has revealed that “conversations” have taken place about the Middle East hosting the fights.

TalkSPORT pundit Simon Jordan previously hinted that a series of fights involving Joshua, Wilder, Usyk and Fury were potentially in the works in Saudi Arabia.

WBC champ Fury and unified champ Usyk were initially tipped to clash in a long-awaited unification bout later this month at Wembley before their fight collapsed.

Joshua, meanwhile, made his return to the hotly anticipated return to the ring earlier this month and secured a unanimous decision win over American Jermaine Franklin.

The 33-year-old British star later confirmed that his next fight would be in December, despite promoter Hearn wanting him to fight three times in 2023.

Wilder, who suffered back-to-back defeats to Fury, made his triumphant return to the ring with a stunning first-round KO win over Robert Helenius last October.

Speaking to iFL TV, Hearn insisted that his focus is getting a “big mega-fight in December over the line” for two-time former unified champ Joshua.

“There have definitely been conversations that have taken place where people would like to host [Tyson] Fury against [Oleksansdr] Usyk and AJ against [Deontay] Wilder on the same night,” he said.

“It will cost a lot of money, but it would be our pick, and we will have those conversations. Our focus is to get that big mega-fight in December over the line.

“There is no official decision in terms of whether AJ will fight in July. Some of that may come around the deal or the decision or the completion of that fight in December.

“I would quite like to see him fight. I think he would like to fight in July, but right now, he’s not in camp for a July fight.”

Malik Scott, who is Wilder’s trainer, echoed similar remarks to Hearn over the heavyweight tournament by claiming that the “rumours are true.”

“I can say that those rumours are true, negotiations are going on and big fights are gonna be happening,” he told iFL TV.

“Not just with us, with a lot of top heavyweights.”

It is believed that a heavyweight tournament in the Middle East could have an eye-watering £325m purse attached to it.

Eddie Hearn claims Tyson Fury will return on July 22.

Tyson Fury's 'absolutely monstrous' next fight revealed by Eddie Hearn

Tyson Fury’s ‘absolutely monstrous’ next fight has been revealed by promoter Eddie Hearn and it’s a big one.

The self-proclaimed ‘Gypsy King’ is looking for his next assignment following his TKO victory over Derek Chisora last December.

He had been slated to meet WBO, WBA (super) and IBF world champion Oleksandr Usyk in a blockbuster undisputed clash until both parties failed to agree terms.

Fury uploaded a video on social media, teasing ‘some massive news’ and revealed a fight date is imminent.

During a workout, he said: “I’ve got some massive news coming. An imminent fight date and absolutely monstrous fight.

“Keep tuned, because the WBC world heavyweight king is back in action coming very soon, peace out.”

Well, according to Hearn, Fury will face Andy Ruiz Jr in London on July 22.

Asked who he thinks the WBC title holder will take on next, the Matchroom chief replied: “Andy Ruiz, July 22nd.”

A potential Fury vs. Ruiz Jr showdown could take place at Wembley Stadium.

Ruiz Jr shot to fame following his huge upset over Anthony Joshua at Madison Square Garden back in 2019. He stopped the British star to become the unified world heavyweight champion.

But the Mexican-American fighter lost his titles in the rematch as ‘AJ’ regained the unified titles.

The 33-year-old has since picked up wins over Chris Arreola and Luis Ortiz as he appears to be set to fight for world honours once again.

As for Fury, he’s rattled off six wins in a row since his controversial draw against Deontay Wilder in their first meeting back in December 2018.

He boasts wins against Tom Schwarz, Otto Wallin, Wilder (x2), Dillian Whyte and Chisora.

Fury or Ruiz Jr – who takes it? Let us know.

  • Happy Birthday To WWE Legend Brock Lesnar: Mike Tyson & Brock Lesnar Looking Stacked & Terrifying As Teenagers

Happy Birthday To WWE Legend Brock Lesnar: Mike Tyson & Brock Lesnar Looking Stacked & Terrifying As Teenagers

What do Mike Tyson and Brock Lesnar have in common?

Well, for one thing, they are both legends of their respective sports and secondly, they have both seemingly always been jacked.

Recently a photo comparison appeared of the two online in which Tyson was 17 and Lesnar was 16 and clearly neither man was short of muscle even at that early stage.

In the photographs, not a lot can be seen of Iron Mike’s torso, but judging from the size of his shoulders, I think there can be little doubt that physically he was already in ridiculous shape.

It is little wonder that at just 20, Kid Dynamite became the youngest boxing champion in the history of the sport.

Equally, it is no surprise that the heavyweight champion could take so many punches judging by the photo as his neck was certainly far thicker than that of the average teenager.

Tyson won his first 19 professional fights via knockout and he was the first heavyweight boxer to hold the WBA, WBC and IBF titles at the same time. He is also the only heavyweight to unify them in succession.

Mike Tyson & Brock Lesnar looking stacked & terrifying as teenagers

Mike Tyson was also ranked first in ESPN’s list of the hardest hitting heavyweights of all time and it is little wonder judging from his build at 17.

Brock Lesnar, meanwhile, at 16 too looks like a man destined for the peak of physical sport as he flexed his extraordinary build by the waterside.

In 2002 at age 25, Lesnar broke the record for youngest winner of the WWE championship before going on to dominate the sport. He was even Universal Champion for 504 days.

Away from wrestling, Lesnar also briefly tried to make it in the NFL before later entering the world of mixed martial arts. In 2008, Lesnar signed with the UFC and by 2010 he had already become the unified heavyweight champion, although his MMA career was cut short by diverticulitis.

He then returned to wrestling once more before a short return to the UFC and now he is wrestling again.

As these photos suggest, Brock Lesnar and Mike Tyson have been maintaining their physique since a very young age. As teenagers, they were clearly dedicated to achieving their sporting goals and worked hard to be in the required shape to meet them.

When you see photos like this of the two men as teenagers, it is little surprise that even now, many years later, they are two of the toughest and scariest men on the planet.

  • Lewis Hamilton rues inconsistent Mercedes car after poor qualifying in Australia

Lewis Hamilton rues inconsistent Mercedes car after poor qualifying in Australia

Lewis Hamilton said the inconsistency of his Mercedes “messes with the mind” following his worst qualifying performance in Australia for 14 years.

Hamilton, who boasts a record eight pole positions at Melbourne’s Albert Park, will start Sunday’s 58-lap race from a disappointing 11th after he was eliminated in Q2.

Max Verstappen took pole – his third in as many races – as he bids to complete a record-equalling 10 victories, with Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz joining him on the front row.

Hamilton qualified eighth in Saudi Arabia a fortnight ago, and ninth the week before in Bahrain.

He trails team-mate George Russell, who will line up in seventh on Sunday, 3-0 over one lap this season, and after finishing only seventh and ninth at the opening two rounds, he has scored just eight points to Russell’s 18 so far.

“The inconsistency in the car really messes with the mind,” said Hamilton, who had finished fourth in final practice, less than a tenth off the pace.

“There is a long list of things to fix. Our car is on a knife edge. In the afternoon the wind picks up and the car becomes unstable. But the others can pick their pace up in qualifying and I am not sure why.

“It didn’t feel the same in qualifying from practice even though we had lighter fuel. It is not a great feeling for everyone in the team but we will keep working away.”

Hamilton has not won a race since the penultimate fixture of the 2021 campaign in Saudi Arabia, 57 rounds ago.

Mercedes have adopted a different design philosophy this season, but Hamilton is low on confidence in the last Silver Arrows he will drive before he heads to Ferrari in 2025.

“It is three years in a row where I have had a similar feeling,” continued the seven-time world champion.

“There are spikes like this morning in practice where I think it can be good, and then it disappears.

“If we can make the car more consistent maybe we can be more competitive but there is a lot of work to do and everyone is pushing as hard as they can.”

Hamilton’s Mercedes boss Toto Wolff pulled no punches with his assessment of his team’s performance.

“It’s especially underwhelming because we were within a tenth in final practice,” he said. “The conditions were a little bit different but there is no excuse.

“We have a car that is difficult, and as much as I am annoyed at myself for saying this for a long time, we just need to continue working on it and trying to get better.

“It is not because of a lack of trying that we are where we are, but it’s not good enough.”

At the sharp end of the grid, Verstappen’s third pole in as many races appeared under threat with Ferrari threatening to knock the all-conquering Dutchman off his perch.

But Verstappen upped the ante in front of a record Saturday crowd at a sun-cooked Albert Park of just shy of 131,000, to see off Sainz by 0.270 seconds.

After winning the last nine rounds, stretching back to his victory at September’s race in Japan, Verstappen heads into Sunday’s main event as the overwhelming favourite to take another triumph and match his own record.

“It was a bit unexpected today, but I am very happy with Q3,” said Verstappen. “Both of my laps felt nice and enjoyable. It has been a tricky weekend so far but we managed to be there at the end.”

Sainz, who had emergency surgery in Jeddah to remove his appendix just 15 days ago, added: “It has been a tough couple of weeks, a lot of days in bed, waiting to see if I would be here today, and to make it to this weekend and then to put it on the front row, I almost didn’t believe it.

“I was rusty yesterday but I got up to speed and found the pace and I feel good with the car. I am not going to lie, I am not in my most comfortable state when I am driving out there but I can get it done.”

  • Mike Tyson’s Jaw-Dropping Choice for Boxing’s Greatest Fighter in 100 Years

Mike Tyson’s Jaw-Dropping Choice for Boxing’s Greatest Fighter in 100 Years

For some, Mike Tyson might be regarded as one of the best to have entered the boxing ring in the last century. But the former fighter once known as ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ is picking legendary multi-weight champion Floyd Maywather as the greatest pugilist of the last 100 years.

On his own Hotboxin’ podcast, ‘Iron Mike’ was praising former UFC champion, Conor McGregor, for going 10 rounds with Mayweather, who he described as “the greatest fighter in the last 100 years of boxing”.

“Proper 12. Connor [McGregor]. He’s a spectacle, but listen, this is where it’s not a spectacle.

He never really had a boxing match in his life, right? He went 10 rounds with the greatest fighter in the last 100 years of boxing. He scored punches. Look what he did.”

Tyson is right in that Mayweather-McGregor had a huge commercial crossover appeal. The fight recorded the second-highest pay-per-view buy rate in history after another Mayweather fight against Manny Pacquiao in 2015.

Floyd Mayweather is Mike Tyson's 'Greatest fighter in 100 years'

And not many would argue with his choice as Mayweather as the greatest of a century. The self proclaimed ‘Best Ever’ retired with an undefeated record boasting 50 wins from 50 fights. He was an 11-time, five-division world champion with 26 consecutive wins in world title fights along the way.

Can mike Tyson really be considered an all time great? - Quora

Although he hasn’t competed in a professional contest since his victory over McGregor in 2017, Mayweather has been seen in the ring for several money spinning exhibition fights against influencers and, most recently, the grandson of one of American’s most notorious gangsters, John Gotti. The night finished in a mass brawl.

Mike Tyson to make major lifestyle change ahead of Jake Paul fight that nobody saw coming

Mike Tyson is set to make a major lifestyle change ahead of his big fight against Jake Paul.

Tyson is set to return to action on July 20 when he faces Paul in an exhibition that will be aired on Netflix.

It will be the boxing legend’s first appearance since his clash with Roy Jones Jr back in November 2020.

Fans and critics alike have slammed the contest between Tyson and Paul as current heavyweight star Anthony Joshua made his feelings clear.

The 57-year-old looks to be in supreme shape as he released a first-person POV training workout online.

And he’s amped up preparations ahead of his ring return as he is set to give up smoking cannabis in the build-up to his summer showdown.

Tyson, who’s an avid weed smoker, owns a cannabis farm but he will be giving the hash ahead of fighting Paul.

Asked about his habit, he said: “I don’t know, maybe it has something to do with my tripolar tendencies or something.

“But I don’t think I am going to smoke for this fight. I think I am going to be very irritable and nasty.”

Quizzed whether he would take his own cannabis-infused sweets before a fight, he replied: “Normally I do, but for this particular fight I think I’m going to go pretty raw and naked.

“I’m 58 and what? I’m getting billions of views from just talking to somebody about fighting.”

Tyson also hit out at ‘jealous’ people slamming his fight against Paul.

“Everybody, even most of the athletes, they’re jealous, that’s whack,” he exclaimed. “I say in your prime you couldn’t draw a million people, man. What are you talking, you couldn’t sell out arena.

“Who at 58 could sell out an 80,000-seat arena? Why you think he [Paul] wants to fight me and not anybody else?”

Tyson Fury reveals the 'secret weapon' he's got to help him beat Oleksandr Usyk

Tyson Fury has revealed the ‘secret weapon’ that he will use to help him beat Oleksandr Usyk for the heavyweight titles on May 18.

Fury vs Usyk goes down in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia next month.

The original fight due to take place in February, but Fury was forced to withdraw a week out from the fight after suffering a cut above his eye in sparring.

Anticipation has since been building for the event, with a lengthy undercard already being announced.

And today, Fury has held a press conference ahead of the fight, with father John and promoter Frank Warren also present.

This article contains affiliate links and LADbible Group might make a commission on anything purchased.

And although Usyk wasn’t involved in the press conference, ‘The Gypsy King’ still managed to get in some verbal shots towards his Ukrainian opponent.

He said: “I’m training hard, obviously. I’m in fantastic shape, obviously. And I’ve got a massive fight coming up, obviously.

“There’s no room for error, there’s no room for not training right or any problems. So we’ve just got to get through it.

“Forty days out, feeling fantastic. I’m having a fantastic training camp and I’ve got a good team around me. No complaints, working very hard.”

He added: “I’ve got my dad in camp this time, so I’ve got my secret weapon over there as well. I’ve got Ty Mitchell in, all the boys and all the girls are in camp. So we’ve got a full circus camp. Can’t do anymore really.”

The current WBC heavyweight champion, Fury is looking to capture the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, IBO and The Ring titles in his unification fight against Usyk.

His press conference took place in his home town of Morecambe, where he still lives with wife Paris.

Fury also has a sponsorship agreement with Morecambe Football Club, who currently play in League Two.

Speaking last year, ‘The Gypsy King’ revealed his desire to fight for the Central Area Heavyweight Title, which is contested usually between either up-and-coming or journeyman boxers from north, eastern and Midlands areas of England.

He told IFL TV: “After I finish my career, I’m going to get that belt. So Chris [Healey, the most recent champion at the time], if you’re watching this, get yourself trained up, mush.

“I could do it at Morecambe Football Club, yeah. About six or seven thousand it holds there.”

Carlos Sainz puts appendix surgery behind him to WIN the Australian Grand Prix in a race dominated by retirements for Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton suffered an engine blowout to end his Australian Grand Prix – in a race won by Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz after Max Verstappen‘s hopes of a 10th successive victory went up in smoke.

George Russell caused late drama when he lost it on the last lap, his car smashing the barrier and spinning round as his Mercedes flipped on to its side.

‘I am OK,’ said the Briton.

Nobody could have foretold Verstappen’s misfortune of the brake failure that struck at the start of the 58-lap event.

He started on pole, but was passed by Sainz, who used his DRS power to seize control of the afternoon 16 days after undergoing appendix surgery. What a star.

Ring the church bells! For Verstappen was reporting he had lost his car. Then smoke came out of the back rear of his usually impregnable machine.

He retired at the end of the fourth lap, flames now coming from his stricken machine as he pulled into his pit box.

He got out disgruntled, obviously. But he can afford to write off his problem as a likely blip, even if the cheers of the record 132,105 crowd can hardly have warmed him. They were just delighted to see a period of domination like no other in the history of the sport interrupted.

He was furious to be held in the car while his mechanics attempted a pit stop despite him sitting in the midst of a fire.

He remonstrated with performance director Tom Hart in the garage about this point, seemingly saying: ‘F***ing stupid.’

Verstappen visited the pit wall to give his view. All disappointingly cordial at a team that has mastered warring these last few months.

He changed into his civvies and said: ‘The brake stuck from when the lights went off. The temperatures kept on increasing until the point where it caught on fire.

‘Having one brake caliper on is like driving with the handbrake on. I didn’t know at the time but I could feel the balance in the car was off.’

Of the setback he said: ‘It excites me in a way. I would like to win and we have had many good races in a row and reliability and I knew the day would come where we would retire and unfortunately that day was today.’

Of the crowd cheering, he said: ‘I have a helmet on so I don’t hear that.’

Of the 10 wins in a row that he nearly achieved, the Dutchman added: ‘I’m not interested in records. I just want to win. If it is 11 in a row or it isn’t, it doesn’t matter. The championship is the most important thing.

Lewis Hamilton, however, is enduring the worst star of his 18-season career: seventh, ninth and DNF. Even in 2009, a poor year, he went: disqualified, seventh and sixth – slightly better.

His Mercedes is short of pace and now unreliable. Russell nearly finished seventh before his final-lap crash, hardly great and nothing like a race with the Ferraris to took a one-two with Charles Leclerc second and Lando Norris third for McLaren.
