Mike Tyson would knockout sparring partners quickly so he could get home and watch Tom and Jerry

Tyson’s former bodyguard and chauffeur Rudy Gonzales claims the boxer would high-tail it out of sparring sessions to watch cartoons.

Mike Tyson apparently used to make a habit out of battering his training partners as quickly as possible – not to test his skills, but instead to get home in time to watch Tom & Jerry.

Well, so says Tyson’s former bodyguard and chauffeur Rudy Gonzales, who claims that the legendary boxer often used to condense his gruelling five-hour sparring sessions into just 60 minutes so he could high-tail it out of there early to watch cartoons.

In his book, The Inner Ring – which is itself being developed into an animated feature film – Gonzales explained: “When we trained in Vegas his sparring sessions were from 12 to 5pm.

    PA

“He would be the nicest guy beforehand asking the sparring partners: ‘How you doing today, how’s the family?’

“Then he would just knock out five guys all out within an hour so there was nobody left.

“I saw him punch the heavy bag so hard it broke a few times from the chains and the other boxers would just leave saying: ‘We are not f*****g with you today. I do not care how much money you pay me’.

“Anyone who felt they were up for taking him on, he would hit them and they’d just snap. Soon after they would pack their bags.

“So one day I asked: ‘Boss I am confused, isn’t this about working on techniques?

“He replied: ‘If I keep it going we will miss Tom & Jerry cartoons.’”

    PA

The comments resurfaced recently leaving people equally bewildered.

    You couldn’t make it up.

Still, there is form for this – Tyson has never been shy about his love of cartoons, even going as far as to help create and star in his own animated series.

Mike Tyson Mysteries sees the former heavyweight champ hop in a van and travel the world, righting wrongs and solving mysteries. It was a surprise hit and ran for four seasons on Adult Swim before being unceremoniously cancelled in September 2020.

Gonzalez claimed in a recent interview with The Sun that during his peak, Tyson used to be so scared of killing his opponents in the ring that he often needed to have sex with groupies before fights to ‘diminish his power’ and take the edge off his rage.

“His biggest fear was that he would kill someone in that ring,’ Gonzalez said.

“He knew he could do it. So I had girls tucked away in bathrooms and changing rooms.

“Sometimes he’d go in with them for a minute, bang the s**t out of them, snap his neck and say: ”Okay this guy is going to live tonight.”’

The latest editions of The Inner Ring: The Set-Up of Mike Tyson and the Uncrowning of Don King Paperback are on sale now.

Boxing star Ryan Garcia is KICKED OUT of the New York Mets’ stadium as officials ‘pull the plug on plans to let him throw the first pitch’ – before he goes on expletive-laden Twitter rant and claims he will ‘expose’ the team

Boxing star Ryan Garcia ranted about the New York Mets after being kicked out of Citi Field on Tuesday.

Garcia and Devin Haney, who will headline at Barclays Center for the WBC super lightweight title on Saturday, were supposed to throw the first pitches ahead of the Mets-Pirates game in Queens.

However, the baseball team retracted the arrangement in the 11th hour, fearing that the two boxers would let their animosity cause trouble on the field. Following the incident, Garcia posted a video slamming the Mets on his social media.

‘Yo guys, the Mets just wasted three hours of our life,’ Garcia said in the video, with promoter Oscar De La Hoya walking with him. ‘To say at the end: ‘You can’t throw the pitch,’ for whatever reason. There was no reason, and they kicked us out.’

‘I’m personally gonna say f**k the Mets,’ he exclaimed. ‘Don’t ever go to a f***ing Mets game again. F**k the Mets.’

The Mets invited Garcia and Devin Haney to throw the first pitch but retracted on the 11th hour

Before being told to leave the premises, Garcia had entered the ballpark and practiced his form ahead of the pitch. The knockout artist also claimed that he would ‘throw a hundred mile-per-hour, two hundred mile-per-hour fastball.’

After posting the initial video, Garcia continued to express his frustration on X, saying: ‘Mets let Haney and 12 goons and I could only bring 1 security and 2 of my film crew.’

‘I will expose the Mets so bad and MLB,’ he said in another tweet.

‘GO YANKEES,’ he wrote in a third post, referring to the heated cross-town rivalry between New York’s baseball teams.

During the buildup, fans have worried about Garcia’s well-being as his social media activity continuously becomes concerning. Garcia previously made a cryptic post claiming he had been murdered and claimed he was tied up by ‘the elites’ at Bohemian Grove.

Garcia’s bizarre rants continued when he claimed an earthquake would ‘destroy’ Hollywood and Las Vegas. He also labeled Elon Musk as the Antichrist.

Although the Mets pulled the plug on having Garcia and Haney on the mound perhaps a little too late, sources shared that the decision sprung from the boxers’ scuffle at the Empire State Building earlier in the day.

During a faceoff in front of the Manhattan skyline, Haney pushed Garcia by the face, sending the Victorville, California native back a few feet before they got separated.

After the altercation, Garcia said that he ‘identifies as a woman’ therefore making Haney’s act a hate crime.

‘Devin touched me without my consent I’m suing him for putting his hands on me,’ Garcia wrote. ‘And I Identify as a woman. So he touched me as a Grown man and hit a Grown woman. And I’m lgbtq+. So now it’s a hate crime. Nah this is SO F***ED UP.’

Arman Tsarukyan explains why he punched a fan during UFC 300 walkout as he says man ‘showed him that he wanted to hit him’

Arman Tsarukyan has explained why he attempted to punch a fan during his walkout at UFC 300 on Saturday night.

The landmark event was a night will go down in UFC history with Max Holloway pulling off one of the greatest knockouts in his BMF title bout with Justin Geathje and Alex Pereira finishing Jamahal Hill in the main event.

Tsarukyan also picked up a huge victory, beating former lightweight champion Charles Oliveira via split decision and most likely earning himself a title shot against Islam Makhachev.

However, the first punch he threw came before he had even entered the octagon.

Tsarukyan was making his way out into the arena as a spectator appeared to attempt to provoke him.

he immediately responded by launching an overhand right in the fan’s direction before continuing to make his way to the cage.

Speaking about the incident, Tsarukyan said: ‘he showed he wanted to punch me and I wanted to punch him back, that’s it.

‘If you show that it doesn’t matter who you are I am going to punch you in the face.

‘When you are close to me, it is automatic. I’m from Russia, don’t do that please. Or I’m going to go to prison in the US.’

On the incident, commentator Daniel Cormier said live on air: ‘Yeah it’s crazy to see him do that.

‘You want to be so locked in. That has to be something that matters to Arman, what happened to him on the way to the Octagon.’

UFC president Dana White had little sympathy for the fan Tsarukyan punched.

‘Yeah, you might not one to hang over the things and grab people when they’re walking out,’ he said.

‘These guys are all f*****g hyped up and whatever. We’re probably going to get sued but we will deal with that on Monday.’

Jamie Pittman: Aussie Olympics coach quits Paris Games after being accused of shocking sexual misconduct against female athletes

Australian boxing coach Jamie Pittman has pulled out of the Paris Olympics after being accused of a string of sexual misconduct offences against female fighters.

The former professional boxer allegedly committed 11 offences during three trips with Aussie boxing teams between July and October last year and has been served with a breach notice by the Combat Institute of Australia for abuse, bullying and sexual misconduct.

Australia’s National Sports Tribunal heard shocking evidence against the 42-year-old at a hearing three weeks ago, News Corp reported.

It’s alleged that Pittman took a photo of a female fighter from behind as she bent over, then showed it to another team member, claimed to be in love with a boxer who’s more than 20 years younger than him, and told a male fighter, ‘You need to f**k more women to become more of a man.’

He is also alleged to have said, ‘How f**king hot are some of the girls in here,’ at an October 2023 team camp in Italy and telling a fighter, ‘Yummy, yes please’ when a female boxer walked past him.

Pittman is also accused of saying, ‘I wish I was that age again … get pushed around in a pram all day and suck ti**ies’ when a woman walked past with a baby, and giving an athlete a ‘lap dance’ while she was using an exercise machine.

Australian fighters have branded his behaviour ‘shocking, gross and inappropriate’, according to evidence before the hearing.

The Combat Institute called the former professional fighter ‘puerile’ and said he made boxers and support staff feel ‘confused, bewildered and uncomfortable’.

Confronted with the accusations, Pittman told the publication he will not attend the Paris Games in July in order ‘to focus on my role’ as Futures coach.

‘It’s all in there for you to read,’ Pittman said of the tribunal’s findings when he was asked if he disputes the allegations.

During that period he has overseen seven drivers’ world championships and six constructors’ titles.

Red Bull have dominated the sport in recent seasons and last year won 21 of the 22 races, with Max Verstappen setting a new record for 10 consecutive victories.

Verstappen, who heads into the new campaign as the favourite to win his fourth title in a row, said: “He (Horner) is very important otherwise he wouldn’t have been in that position for such a long time.

When Mike Tyson Crossed Paths with the Greatest Gracie Fighter Boasting an Unbelievable 450-0 Streak

Rickson Gracie was confident about beating Mike Tyson without exchanging punches

Rickson Gracie, being a well-established person from the world of combat with a reported 450-0 record in BJJ, was wholly aware of Mike Tyson’s fierce punching. He was confident about beating Tyson in a fight, but never wanted to trade hand shots with him. Very few combat sports fans would be unaware of the devastating punching power of ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson. He was known for his gruesome knockouts, which left opponents dazed for quite some time even after the bout.

Gracie oozed confidence as he stated, “I don’t have no doubt about I can beat Mike Tyson. It’s hard to describe the fight. I don’t know how it’s gonna be”. But he also intended to maintain precaution, saying, “But the only thing I don’t wanna do is exchange punches with him. Other than that, I’m fine.”

It could be understood that Gracie was definitely implying that he could beat Tyson in a grappling or MMA bout since he didn’t want to exchange punches with ‘Iron’. A boxing bout between Gracie and Tyson probably wouldn’t have ended with Gracie‘s predicted results.

Rickson Gracie boasts a thoroughly impressive record himself

Gracie has fought across a variety of martial arts disciplines, including BJJ, luta livre, and MMA. He also fought under the noted Japanese MMA promotion Pride FC. Gracie was featured in two events of Pride FC in the years 1997 and 1998.

His appearance at Pride 1 saw him gain a victory over the Japanese Nobuhiko Takada; via an armbar submission in round 1. He managed to repeat his feat once again on his second Pride FC event at Pride 4. Once again defeating Takada with a similar armbar.

Rickson Gracie’s MMA record stands at an impressive 11-0 where he fought against multiple promotions across the world. Also, with a reported BJJ record of 450-0. No wonder he is considered one of the greatest ever in the world of combat sports.

Mike Tyson experiences a deeply saddening emotional collapse while paying tribute to his adopted father and the pigeons that provided him comfort.

During a podcast recording in Saudi Arabia, John Fury, the father of boxing champion Tyson Fury, expressed his profound admiration for Mike Tyson. John, who named his son after the legendary boxer due to his immense love for him, shared how he had closely followed Mike’s professional journey since his early days in 1985. Despite facing financial difficulties with no electricity or running water, John would wake up at 3:10 a.m. to start his petrol generator just to witness Mike’s fights. He confessed to having spent his entire life both admiring and feeling sympathetic towards Mike, especially after the passing of their shared mentor, Cus. This heartfelt tribute brought Mike Tyson to tears.

When Mike Tyson’s mother passed away, Cus D’Amato took the 12-year-old under his wing, eventually becoming his legal guardian and introducing him to the world of boxing. Tragically, Cus passed away a year before Tyson achieved his historic feat of becoming the youngest heavyweight champion at the age of 20 in 1986.

Reflecting on Tyson’s relationship with Cus, John Fury remarked, “Cus was like a father figure to you, wasn’t he? I’ve seen the documentaries of you and Cus with your pigeons, and it always moved me deeply. I couldn’t help but feel emotional and choked up. I thought, if Cus were here and had the chance to meet us, we could be his brothers. I wish he could have been there for you, not for any ulterior motives but simply to care for you as the remarkable man you are.”

In an emotional moment, Tyson requested the cameras to cease recording as he made an effort to regain his composure. Following this, John shared the heartfelt account of why he named his son after Tyson and expressed his belief that his son would follow in Tyson’s footsteps to become the future heavyweight champion. John vividly recounted the instance when he addressed the doctors and confidently declared, “Listen to these words. Not only will he survive, but he will also grow to be seven feet tall, weigh 20 stone, and become the next world heavyweight champion. And his name will be Tyson.”

How Mike Tyson’s devastating blow to Trevor Berbick became an iconic moment in boxing history.

Mike Tyson’s victory over Trevor Berbick in 1986, particularly the second-round demolition, is regarded as his finest performance, as stated by his former trainer Teddy Atlas. At the tender age of 20, Tyson claimed the WBC heavyweight world championship by defeating Berbick in Las Vegas. Despite his youth, it was Tyson’s 28th professional fight, and he showcased dominance from the very beginning. With 44 wins out of 58 fights ending in knockouts, Tyson’s career concluded with an impressive record, and Atlas commended his stoppage of Berbick.

Tyson delivered a powerful blow to his opponent’s body, followed by a left hook to the head, causing the older man to fall for the second time during the fight, prompting referee Mills Lane to stop the bout. Teddy Atlas, who assisted Cus D’Amato in training Tyson, expressed satisfaction with his fighter’s performance over three decades ago. When asked about Tyson’s best-ever knockout during an interview with SportsCenter, Atlas confidently responded, “Oh, that’s an easy one. It has to be Trevor Berbick. There was no other opening, so he lands a left hook on the temple, and what happens next is incredible. Berbick falls in one direction, then the other. He falls backward, gets up, falls again, and even goes through the ropes. It was a truly dramatic knockout, especially considering it was for the heavyweight title.”

Berbick acknowledged after the fight that he was unable to anticipate Tyson’s punches.

“He’s an extremely powerful and precise puncher,” Berbick admitted. “I didn’t even see the punch that knocked me down.

“I made a foolish error by trying to prove myself against him in the early rounds.”

Following the fight, Tyson went on to establish his dominance in the division, experiencing his first defeat only in 1990 against Buster Douglas in a surprising upset.

There have been discussions about Tyson potentially returning to the ring for his 59th professional bout in the upcoming months, as speculation surrounding the 53-year-old’s comeback continues to gain momentum.

Tyson Fury's 'lies' have been exposed in viral video

Tyson Fury has been called out for repeatedly lying in interviews in a series of viral videos.

The WBC world heavyweight champion has provided plenty of entertainment inside the ring and on the microphone.

However, the Gypsy King isn’t always one to tell the truth. He’s retired and unretired on so many occasions and you never know what to believe with him.

And the amount of lies told by Fury have been highlighted by @zeesthoughts, who has put together a seven-part series over on TikTok and garnered a whole lot of views in the process.

The very first lie is when Fury said he was in discussions with Conor McGregor over training him in MMA, though the Irishman completely debunked that when asked about it.

“I’ve never spoken to Tyson in my life” was the damning line from the Notorious.

He’s said he’s not motivated by money and even talked about not charging the public to watch him fight but then proceeds to demand crazy purse fees.

Fury claims he drives around in a 2007 Volkswagen Passat but then we see him in supercars.

Fury also once said he would never fight in the United Kingdom again and would only box in the United States after a slew of bouts across the pound, before later saying, “It was time to give the fans a well deserved fight at home”.

He knocked out Dillian Whyte at Wembley Stadium in April and his trilogy fight with Dereck Chisora is also on home soil.

Another gem was him saying he wouldn’t fight current pound-for-pound number one Oleksandr Usyk due to him being foreign and not speaking good English – yet he agreed to fight both Otto Wallin and Tom Schwarz, a Swede and a German.

Finally, in his controversial interview with True Geordie, Fury made it clear that he doesn’t “give one damn about legacy”.

But that’s not entirely true as he has spoke about it many a time, once stating, “I’d rather have a legacy than money” and describing himself as a “legend”.

You can’t take away what Fury has achieved in between the ropes and the way in which he came back from the lowest of lows.

But he has become boring and repetitive and the buzz surrounding him has lessened as a result.
